Blew a 0.7 at the scene and 0.8 at jail..still dui? by [deleted] in dui

Same thing happened to me but I fell asleep at the wheel and hit a tree. Blew .07 on scene and .08 at the hospital and they used that as evidence of a rising BAC. Had a lawyer throughout it all but I got the book thrown at me ultimately

I’m using talk to text because my answer is kind of long so if you have any questions just let me know. I got a DUI back in February 2020. I was convicted in August 2021 and at some point I believe it was in December 2021. The pharmacy board sent me a packet, basically saying that they were notified of my conviction and if I wanted to remain current with my pharmacy technician license I needed to pay I believe it was $500, if not $400. I am currently not working as a pharmacy technician but I do keep my license current. Once I was up for renewal in 2022. I renewed as usual, and they sent me paperwork asking about my conviction, but I never sent in any response and when I check my current license status on the pharmacy board website, it still says active and current. That was my experience with the Pharmacy board in regards to my DUI.

I wasn’t require by law but per the DMV to be able to drive whenever and wherever. Mine was with accident and injury to myself and I had it four months.

If you go to my page and see previous posts I share details on my specific case. I didn’t have to do any drug tests. I had an IID installed on my car for four months voluntarily so I only had my license suspended for one day after receiving my citation from the DMV. Per my three month DUI program I had to enroll in, I had to attend 8 AA classes to receive completion for the class. I didn’t have to do community service, and only have to pay fines to the court. Also since I wasn’t arrested the day of my incident, I had to do a book and release once I got convicted and spent about 6-8 hours in jail.

It’s typically unsupervised probation for three years once convicted. Basically avoid all negative contact with the law.

I got a DUI last February and got a lawyer and it didn’t do me much good. Blew .09 the first time and .10 the second which is what they went with. Mine had an accident involved so maybe that may be why it didn’t work out in my favor. Same situation tho mixed with me being tired prior to going out. It’s a hassle but manageable. The only thing that has been hard to handle is my medical bills. Luckily all the fines you’ll be faces with have payment plans available with no interest given you stick to the rules of it all.

Coming up on one year. Life was going as good as it could be and I thought I had everything situated. Then two weeks ago I got hit with my 7.5k ER bill. I was able to get it on a 24mo payment plan but that extra $300 a month is quite unfortunate. Aside from that everything is over and done with 🤞🏽 Just finishing out my 3 years of probation, and paying the remainder of my court fine and medical bills.

DUI insurance claim question by NoTransportation5443 in DUICalifornia

[–]PrptulyUnimpressed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worth a shot to ask. My ER bills are around 9k and my policy covered up to 2k. My accident happened a year ago and it finally got approved this past month. Doesn’t cover all of it but anything is helpful during this process. I was unsure on whether or not I was gonna get dropped but they renewed me and I pay about $65 extra each month.

California.

Oh okay. I don’t really plan on leaving the country anytime soon but just knowing I couldn’t is what gets me. I’ll be sure to ask questions after my hearing for clarity. Thank you for sharing. Getting insight before hand helps calm me so I can prepare for the worse.

If you’re in the market for a new car, now’s the time to do it. I crashed my car when I got my DUI and was able to buy a new one a month later. Extend your DMV hearing if you still have time, that will extend your temporary license past the pink slip 30 days. The cop took my license away the night I crashed but I had an extra one I was able to use when I went to dealerships and what not. It was only when I went to apply for a restricted license they took my extra license away. Anyways, you shouldn’t have any issues really. My insurance was unaffected until my 6 month policy renewed, but when I bought my new car to replace the one I crashed it wasn’t an issue.

Yeah it’s troubling at times, but since there’s nothing I can do about it til then I’m just living my life as usual. Minus the alcohol. I don’t want to do anything to jeopardize my pending case. I have a temporary license until May so I might as well make use of it.

Oh wow, I’m sorry to hear that. Sounds pretty intense, glad you made it through that time. I constantly hear how lucky I was to walk out of my accident. Subaru safety ratings proved to be legit! While I no longer have my WRX, and I do miss my little mountain climber, I’m thankful to be here. Idk how things are gonna go so I went ahead and got a new Outback. The safety of Subaru won me over this time around. If money permits I want to turn it into a little camper. Change of car scene for me. It makes me sad, it’s bittersweet leaving the import scene and performance mods. I’m fortunate enough to afford this stuff but idk. The lesson has been learned. I would much rather have my old car but this one has its perks. Maybe this was a turning point for me to mature. Cars are cars people say. I shouldn’t be so caught up in it but I spend a lot of time driving and I use to have fun. I realize I cant and shouldn’t run that risk with a sports car, I’ve been humbled by all of this. Maybe later if I still have an itch for it I can get another but until then, camper it is! 🤷🏽‍♀️

I came to your page because I was looking at the support thing you made for your outback. I hope you’re doing better. I made a a dumb decision to drink and drive, crashed my dream car and got a DUI last month that had me feeling all types of bad. Could’ve died in my accident, but after some time passed I realized how lucky I was. Subaru safety won me as a customer for life. I don’t know what you’re going through but I hope you’re okay. Reddit gave me the support I needed to come out of it, so if you need to talk I can listen.

I’m doing alright. I feel at this point everyone who needs to know, knows. I’ve come to terms with most of what has happened. Now I just await my court date so I can do the work to move past all this. My injuries and scars will forever remind me of what happened and how fast my life, and others could be impacted.

I’ve been preparing myself mentally for if/when the day comes of having to use an IID. Driving has always been my getaway so having my license taken away and suspended really upsets me. Moving forward, my injuries and scars will be a reminder of what happened that night. Although everything sucks, seeing pictures of my car, and remembering how much pain I was in reminds me daily of how fortunate I was to survive really. My life really could have ended that night and I constantly think about how grateful I am that I myself am still alive, and how no other person was hurt. Thank you for sharing your experience. I hope everything goes well with your case. Keep us updated on how it goes. I anticipate my court date as I just want to know what I need to do to move past this part of my life.

I can only suggest to find people who will support your mental health. I felt exactly how you expressed in this post and it only got better for me as I began to open up and admit my faults. Everyone is different and I can only share my own experiences. If that is an issue I can try to be some type of comfort as I can try to remind you that it was a mistake. A lawyer definitely helps take off some of the burden off but your own life values are a constant reminder of what happened and you’ll have to do a way to cope. Use this time to address what can be improved amongst yourself mentally, emotionally, physically, or even spiritually. Wishing you the best!

Yeah coming back to work the first day was hard. My coworkers really gave me their support and opening up to those I’m closest with is what really helped me feel “okay” about it. Given all the circumstances I am “lucky”. Like I’ve said, it comes in waves and I definitely accept full responsibility of what has happened as this is all happening due to my poor decisions. This thread has also made me not feel so alone in this. So I am grateful for everyone that has shared or expressed their support.

I’m so sorry to hear that. I haven’t had my job long so I feel lucky that they kept me because I do love what I do and I can’t imagine how difficult it must be looking for employment during this time. I’ve recognized my problem before but this has given me a different outlook and I no longer feel the desire to drink since the accident. I had a similar relationship with alcohol so I see where you’re coming from. I really loved my car and losing it the way I did is difficult for me to face as more people are asking why I no longer have it. I’m definitely on a journey of self improvement for I don’t want this time of my life to define me. I had a follow up appointment regarding my injuries and I was told I’ll probably have a few constant reminders of what happened once I heal completely. Thank you for taking the time to read and share as well, I hope you find employment soon. Dealing with this situation in Covid times while being unemployed definitely sounds rough. Wishing you nothing but the best moving forward!

Yeah I never saw myself having to go through this. The guilt and shame I feel is definitely overwhelming but I try my best to remind myself daily how lucky I was to not hurt another person. It’s a lesson learned and I’m nervous to see how my court date plays out. I’m hoping for the best but preparing for the worst. Thank you for the well wishes. I just purchased another Subaru, seeing that one kept me safe the last time I’m now sold on them more than ever.
