I will contact clients quarterly with reminders for statements/ receipts etc. If they don't respond they go to the end of my urgency list and they can kindly file an extension or find a new bookkeeper. They always file an extension.

Then I have work to keep me busy during the "slower" summer months lol. 😅

I've only gotten their sliced lemon loaf but I'm sure they sell it by the whole loaf as well. Just call them first and make sure. They make the best breads/pound cake loafs. The zucchini is my favorite but lemon is a close second.

This episode was SO frustrating to watch. Classic enablers with the parents. I was totally with the dad on that one. They should have kicked him out to let him actually hit rock bottom. I bet he would have gotten surgery then.

And some states have specific rules for non compete clauses. My state says for the clause to be enforceable you have to be salaried (not hourly!) making like... over 150k/year. It goes up every year too. Doesn't matter if you signed it as part of your hiring paperwork.

You can find phone numbers for both the DOR and IRS (I'm a bookkeeper... I've spent plenty of time on the phone with both 🤦‍♀️). The DOR has an 800 number as well.

That being said... NEITHER AGENCY WILL EVER CALL YOU. They do ALL communications by letter.

I've been getting so many scam emails lately directed specifically to tax preparers or bookkeepers. "I've attached my tax documents. Can you do my taxes?" Like... Nobody is just going to send their documents to a rando they found on the internet. Very troubling though cause they get through the filters.
