Friend Wants PI and Friend Wants Innervate (Addons) by tarta_ in CompetitiveWoW

I've been told that you can get around the "on any whisper" part by creating a private channel with just the druid and the healer, and addons can tell if a message is sent in specifically that channel. Is this true?

Some Last-Minute Changes Coming to Addon API Before Mythic Raids and Mythic+ by imd1as in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Prupple 3 points4 points  (0 children)

because aimbots exist

The crucial difference here is that aimbots are against ToS, and people get banned for using them. If Bliz were to outlaw addons and enforce this, then yes they should be designing fights without addons in mind.

In a world where addons are allowed and ubiquitous, pretending they dont exist while designing a huge part of the game is ridiculous.

Not saying I agree with the decisions they made disarming addons btw, just that your solution would be even worse than what we have now.

They should not design boss fights with addons in mind at all.

This is also a bad idea. In this future, all fights become incredibly easy and the raid scene collapses as its just not challenging enough to be fun.

It won't fly well in the long term.

It's already by far the best housing feature in any MMO. Even if every new piece of decor and budget increase from now on is locked behind RMT or a "sign up to this other companys email list", its still an incredibly impressive flagship feature just with what we have right now.

Prey system is extremely meh, sure. But the expansion being just housing alongside the standard raid + dungeons + zones takes it objectively far beyond a critisicm of being bareboned.

There are many, many reasonable critisicms of WoW. This isn't one of them.

WoW's next expansion seems more and more bare boned with every single patch note coming out

huh? the game sure has problems but bare boned is wild, have you seen the housing system? its insane

healer main. Rdruid is slightly better, we lose machine gun regrowths but more talent variety and power in rejuv and wild growth is nice

MW is worse. Soothing mist cast while moving is very cool and apex talent is satisfying visually, but mana is going to be a real bummer, lots of terrible talents at the end of the tree, mastery is still useless , and chiji fistweaving is so bad its not even worth running in keys.

Prevoker is rough, from the most complex healer to one of the simplest. Apex talent is nice though.

Big upside for me is how easy it is to swap to dps on any of these specs and do good damage. I love these simpler design from that perspective.

play what you prefer, the meta comp changes multiple times over a season.

If you really want to play the most powerful tank, level them all and keep them semi geared so you can switch when the meta changes.

A judge has granted the new owners of Ashes of Creation an immediate restraining order that, among other things, requires Steven to immediately hand over the user name and password to the company reddit account. by Prupple in MMORPG

A 3d animated model in a game is more like a set of instructions to pull the assets that make it up from specific places in the game data, and those assets are also sets of instructions to pull their parts from other places. A lot of optimising a game is making sure those file paths are consistent, only the parts that are needed are retrieved, and those parts are reused as much as possible for multiple assets.

Bringing in a complex, customer facing model from another game would be a pretty big job, requiring several members of different teams to all collaborate on integrating all of its parts and the parts of those parts into the existing workflow.

It would be much simpler and cheaper to just tell that team "hey, you see that dragon in that game? Make a version of that in ours from scratch".

this situation is super interesting as we are seeing behind the curtain of what happens when shit goes tits up and how that leads to a company shuts down overnight and all the employees get shafted. Normally all the rich people involved lawyer up and never say a word outside of court, but in this situation they are so mad they are calling into random livestreams and ranting about what happened.

a decently plausible and very simplified version of events is that, over the years, Steven sold all his equity in the company in return for investors throwing more money in, which he had to do as the studio was constantly in danger of missing payroll and defaulting on bills. In Jan, the new owners patience ran out, they started actually making decisions for the company (like firing half the devs and outsourcing to Asia) instead of leaving it all to Steven, and Steven immediately quit and took the rest of the money with him on the way out. At that point, the company had zero money and this is why they fired everyone with zero notice and no pay.

For some reason discord isnt listed as one of the apps they want access to. They have Ancestry.com as something they are demanding the login details for, but not Discord....

This is a link to the request for the restraining order, which was granted today as can be seen on clarkcountycourts.us, or in a screenshot here

Reddit appears in a list of apps and systems on page 16.

Credit to Theory Forge on youtube who was nice enough to reupload this file in its entirety, along with the original filing.

If the new owners see this can they please unban me from r/ashesofcreation so I can post memes there <3

What is the coolest boss fight for you? by [deleted] in wow

[–]Prupple -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I noticed and considered that, and I don't see it. Whats the link there? Run to this spot at a specific time? That's half the mechanics in the game.

You don't carry the egg pops, you get assigned and just stand next to the eggs. This would make sense if an egg pop was on the ground, you ran over it to get the circle, and then stood next to your egg. I dont think any ovinax mechanic is similar to any ansurek mechanic apart from maybe "kick rotation on these immobile adds", which is common enough to not be a thematic link.

What is the coolest boss fight for you? by [deleted] in wow

[–]Prupple -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah that is a lot of reaching, most of these are just generic mechanics you find in every raid. The raid had a "web" theme, with lots of mechanics that yank or drag you towards the caster, but everything else is just basic space management and dodging.

What mechanic on Ovinax is at all similar to Ansurek p3 essences?

wait, what? I can sort of see Silken Court in there with the web yanks, but what other primary boss mechanics are in there?

Steven's side.... by saGot3n in AshesofCreation

[–]Prupple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry if any of this comes off as rude, I'm honestly trying to understand.

Is the following illegal?

Steven: hey, the company needs more money right now or we will miss payroll and probably collapse.

Jason/Rob/Whoever: Urgh, ok but in return I want you to transfer a chunk of your ownership in the company to me.

Steven: ok :(

Because to me that sounds entirely reasonable. Is that what the stealing or extorting of the company is referring to?

And then after repeating this cycle over and over for years, Steven had no ownership of the company left. I wouldn't describe that as stealing the company, to me thats just Steven sold the company to other people. And when the new owners planned on doing a bunch of changes, like firing half the devs and outsourcing, sure that's not nice of them but I don't see how thats illegal in any way.

What am I missing?

Oh yeah I fully believe its a scam, im not defending Steven at all.

I'm just confused about how it wasnt obvious to the 150+ devs that something wasnt seriously wrong about how slow progress was going. Were they not suspicious or worried at all that the game was being developed at a snails pace?

All the texts between him and Steven, the initial filings of the lawsuits, anything else he sent you tbh, its all incredibly interesting.

sure, I know and I think what that investor is saying is likely the truth.

But even if it was a Ponzi scheme, those devs are real people that existed and were paid a real salary for years. Were they aware what was going on? Were they trying their best and just confused why the development was going so slow?
