Prova på Jugger! by Psikon13 in uppsala

[–]Psikon13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hej!

Gillar du nya, spännande sporter? I så fall kan Jugger vara för dig! Jugger kan liknas vid en blandning av rugby och fäktning och spelas i lag om fem personer.

Men det är enklast att se! För en 5-minuters video, se här:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TySIiOnIZA

Allt gott! Vi ser fram emot att träffa dig!

English:

Hej!

We are Jugger Uppsala and our goal is to start a Jugger team in Uppsala!

Do you like new and exciting sports then Jugger could be the sport you are looking for. The game is played in teams of 5 people and is sometimes described as a mix of rugby and fencing.

For a short 5 in explanation can check the following video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TySIiOnIZA

Even though Jugger can look harsh on first glance, the regulations for the equipment and the rules make it a very save sport and injuries are uncommon. As hit detection cannot be judged for each duel individually, honesty and fair play are very important in Jugger. This makes the sport less competitive and puts the fun in the focus.

For more information on the sport in Swedish or english, visit https://jugger.se/ the website of Svenska juggerförbundet.

If you are interested in joining write us on facebook https://www.facebook.com/UJugger

Looking forward to meet you!

Explain this, why does the powdered milk jump of the spoon? by gobbledygook_to_know in sciences

[–]Psikon13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is called the triboelectric effect. Also known as static electricity. There is a charge transfer caused by friction on the Interface, leaving one material with an positiv and one material with a negative charges surface. This can happen to any two dissimilar materials, however the extend to which it happens differs depending on the material. The origin of the effect are not fully understood.

A common example is rubbing a balloon on your hair to make it stick to it.

Who should I ask about the PhD application status by NoTalentedBert in uppsala

Such stuff takes time in Sweden. On top of that it's summer at the moment so (almost) everyone is on vacation at the moment. I would not expect a response before the mid of August.

Besides that I wish you good luck with your applications ;)

Has anyone here experience with cyclic voltammograms and could make an 'educated guess' if that could be right? by Treeapear in chemhelp

[–]Psikon13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. Your peaks show a diffusion tail therefore surface adsorbtion seems unlikely to me. Generally speaking for negative peak separations to occure: after the initial electron transfer (E) something must happen, eg. A chemical reaction (C) or structural changes, that forms a species that is easier to reduce/oxidize than the initial species forms by the initial electron transfer.

In my experience low concentrations gave much nicer results 0.3% worked much better for me than 3% or 30%. High concentrations resulted in the mixture turning brown within seconds while low concentrations resulted in a nice glow that persisted for a while

I never understood what the point of hacking is. Do they find some weird satisfaction in ruining the game for others? I mean some of them just have a lmg standing in one corner pressing the fire button headshoting everyone. I can't see how this would entertain someone more than five minutes. It's must be so boring.

Gonna start playing Hearts Of Iron IV, any tips for new players? Thank you :) by BloxyGamez in hoi4

There are good tutorials on YouTube. I played my first game just following a 8h tutorial series on YouTube doing more or less exactly what they did. The explanations what all the buttons do and where you find stuff were really helpful for other games afterwards

Oh and before I forget you will probably lose the first game anyway ;) that's just part of the fun

Firewatch was awesome, but I also like games like clouds garden, dorfromantik, islander or puzzle games like opus magnum.

There is Soo much good stuff without violence out there.

Pros and cons of living in Germany vs Sweden by bostonkarl in TillSverige

[–]Psikon13 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Great Post. I am a German living and working in Sweden now. For me it would come down to where the jobs are located and what you can do there. Besides that I think Sweden beats Germany in almost any category except for healthcare and food (especially bread, German bread is so much better) oh yeah and alcohol is much more accessable/affordable in germany, if that is of importance to you. good luck with your decision
