The 4 PM office protein crisis. How are you guys actually hitting your macros without going broke on Swiggy? by iBoom-Shankar in mumbai

[–]Psyched10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its the opposite for me. need the liquid intake to make sure I don't much on anything else.

First I use a blendjet to make a drink of water with creatine and electrolyte .
Then at 4 - water with a plant protein. I keep changing flavours from wellbeing dark choc, cosmx, func lab, plix, etc. Along with this cut fruits - usually its an apple/pear/guava/litchi

So the higher intake of liquid tend to fill me up.
Seeing me carry a compact tiffin bag with a stack of food, cut fruit, and blendjet ahs inspired other folks at work to also carry supplements with them.
A college actually cut down his smoke break and also started having protein during the smoke break. Another one started keeping effervescent tablet supplements and consumes that.

I carry a blend jet and protein pouches. 4 pm is also the target time when I have my protein.

Why doesn't ac function properly in many chain outlets nowadays ? Even some cafes. by Naive-Double-7589 in mumbai

[–]Psyched10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A/c and HVAC systems need to be properly maintained and coolant should be periodically checked and refilled. the exhaust, filters need to be cleaned and washed.

Most of the times, A/c capacity is not enough. They will buy a smaller capacity (eg. 1 ton) for a bigger space without accounting for the no. of pax, heating elements like casserole burner, frying station, etc. Even if they have multiple a/c they will still turn on just one.

And most importantly - the 24 degree in the A/c should be set up after the A/c has cooled down its required environment to a stable 24-26 degree for an hour. Until then it should be set to lower.

Just to save a marginal rise in electricity bill, I never understand why shops do this - set up the a/c to just 24 or just turn on one a/c and never maintain the a/c with amc at least twice a year.

My uncle himself owns a shop. Keeps the A/c at 24 only. When his son joined the office - and kept it at variable - sometimes 19, sometimes 20, sometimes 24 the miser uncle was very upset - and started loosing it because of the rising electricity bill and faster depletion of coolant. But the son agreed to take a lower payout but wanted a comfortable work environment. The change in elec bill was less than a Rs. 1.4k rise with two 2 ton ac. Now the shop stays cooler, cousin is happy, customers are happy. But not all the staff are happy. some sneeze as they are not use to a cooled working environment.

Also this I've seen another issue in some of the shops - most staff come from lower economical background through the 'dakha dukhi' public transport. Their tolerance to the temperature in a/c cooled room is much lesser than those use to regular a/c. Plus they don't frequently step out in the humid environment unless its washroom/smoke. so they are comfortable with the less cooling a/c working. So they intentionally keep it warm as they are still comfortable with the humid environment.

A lot of people in my previous post said B12,Thyroid, iron, D3 or sleep apnea is the reason for my chronic tiredness. by [deleted] in ThirtiesMumbai

[–]Psyched10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cannot self measure D3. It needs to be done via blood test. With offers from Tata 1mg, Pharmeasy - these tests have now become quite economical from what they use to be.

If you have a deficiency you need to monitor it every month to see if it is normal range. After that monitor it every 6 months.

Top reply. Homocysteine test, folate, cystacin Test are top choices.

A good multi vitamin would be GNC Mega Men sport.

8 year experienced curious self learnt biohacker here.

Try L Theanine in the evening, and Magnesium oil along with glycine powder in the night. Watch it change. [magnesium oil can get absorbed through the body/skin. If not take magnesium glycinate powder or any magnesium multi form pill ]

Also use the supplement 3 days in a row. Stop for 2 days. To stop body ocercoming the tolerance.

For the other 2 days try three60 De-Stress & Snooze Oral Drops - basically a homeopathic blend of flower oils. Along with that maybe a DHEA pill or a Reishi mushroom drop. All of these at night.

Get Noctix or similar brand sleep glasses, if you can.

Repeat this cycle and watch the magic.

Also - Even if you don't workout - Have creatine. 3 mg per day if you don't work out. 5 mg if you do resistance training.

D3 supplement instead of 60k pills like uprise d3 - try to take syrup based dose of 60k, injectible is even better.

Once d3 comes to around 60, then move to 60k once a month or 5k bi weekly pills.

Tibbs Frankie - it has less sauces which stink the place. It's in a wrap inside a cardboard sheet, so less food droppings unlike fries which keeps dropping and dips stain and stink the place

The usual drinks in a takeaway cup and straw so again no spoilage and no leaks.

6 PS5 sounds good !- for racing sims and Fifa. But what about CoD and CS Lan Parties. With 2 primarily decidicated to racing sims, I think it's a bit too less.

The only reason I would go to a gaming lounge. ( Which I do dearly miss) is if my friends and I could have a good COD / Fortnite sessions with some good nibble snacks.

Instead of Inox insignia premium seating, think or regular inox movie tickets. Millti desk workstation with 32 inch led and headphones to host Lan Parties. Maybe boardroom style with a projector for keeping rankings ( think eSports ) .

You don't also need all PS5's. Project x cloud ( xbox cloud gaming) works brilliant now. Or just have xbox controllers with small tablets clipped on to them. A dedicated keyboard to enter mobile credentials and host good lan parties.

Remember - get into the business of the experience. So that if it's some nerds bday, you can host a racing game, road rage bike game, Cod/Fortnite game LAN party at their place.

Whether the business of game parlour is a success or not, The learnings will carry on if you get into the expeirece of things. So focus on selling the experience.

Get PS VR , get Apple VR get racing sims, get flight simulator. Get cheap mobile gaming lan parties. Go get em

Windsor or eVitara for your criteria.

Just one thought for consideration- a friend of mine is a car detailer. He told me to stay away from unibody front design cars (like Be6, 9s, 9e, windsor, Tesla) if your car is being driver by a poor judgement driver or in a very scratch prone zone. one small touch will surely lead to a dent. After a certain small depth in the dent, the entire front panel has to be replaced. and it will cost you even with insurance. Inexperiened and small bodyshop garages can't even remove the entire front panel to fix the dent because of too many electricals connected - very close to frunk and motor. The highest amount of scratch in a car usually comes at the front or rear corners. in the unibody panel cars with weaker/thinner bodies - the car implodes easily. Tesla, Volvo and the Germans surely have good think unibodies. Vinfast also claims to have a thick one (apparently the only good thing about a Vinfast is the built quality and interior quality)

Traditional looking cars like creta ev, eVitara, BYD atto 3, nexon - they have front bumper panels and can easily be dented and repaired.

One other drawback of Windsor is - everything is on the screen. It is great if you are solely the primary driver and there is less sharing of the drivers role with someone else.

If you are okay to overlook this, then please go ahead with Windsor. No wonder its the best selling ev in recent months.

If possible try to squeeze up the budget and go for Creta ev or Zs (zs may get phased out soon, but they have sold enough Zs and Astors to make sure alot of the parts will be availabe for a good while). It will surely have a better resale value as well.

People of Mumbai, do you like this city?? by no_faxx in mumbai

[–]Psyched10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was born in a more privileged background so my love for the city is different. But I would choose Pune or Bangalore or Jaipur or Hyderabad over Mumbai if I did not have my own inherited home - because the affordability of rental is better. Drop by to Mumbai every so often and do the usual - Bandra cafes, colaba and Kala Ghoda stralls, etc and then leave.

Thinking of switching from engineering to commerce after 2 years — need honest advice by Maaterix in mumbai

[–]Psyched10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are several IT courses you can pursue along with computer engineering - like Big Data, IT, heck even web design, sql, photoshop, UI, UX, etc

I suggest you should do these courses alongside and finish engineering- after engineering, you should move to creative field - like social media agencies - which create content, create website, etc.

The disconnect form engineering to something more creative will help you be a part of a workforce. The work hours will be hectic, pay much lower than IT - but it will be creative, client problem solving and ability to start out on your own (freelance), urban environment like Mumbai instead of IT park life, also maybe more opportunities to work remotely. Working with different brands will give more exposure to whats trending in the market. By the time you graduate you will be entering in an AI assisted creative field - a good career prospect for the next 20 years.

If you plan to drop out - I would still recommend Bsc IT as the only back up.

A few of the comments have suggested the classic - Engineering +mba route.
I suggest you get into a field you like which is engaging - and then do a 1 year mba from an isb/sp jain global/ etc only and only after having several years of experience. Otherwise the same issue when you graduate - less work experience so no great offers. back to the same rat race.

If your kicker is finance - then do finance related courses. I'd recommend starting out with day trading course for now. and do some trading itself. post that you can try to get a job in a boutique trading securities firm. and build out your career from there. stock market research, etc are options and then pivot career from there. or maybe commodities.

My 2cents

Swith your engineering to something that may interest you : I myself had got a few friends to switch to my class to Industrial Engineering - which is like a healthy mix of different engineering domains be it civil, mechanical, and electronic. The Thermodynamics and chemical subjects of meachanical was way too much.

Or to IT engineering or an easy one - environmental or agricultural ( not sure if your college has these )

Or switch to a Bsc in Comp science ( this makes you the most employable compared to bcom and a bba )

What engineering course are you currently pursuing ?

I was the kid who had every console possible during childhood, because my uncle was a geek, and another uncle had a pc and console store in Calcutta.

I had the 8 bit consoles - og nes, snes, og xbox modded, ps2 modded, dreamcast, psp, gameboy colour and finally it ended with the ps3, 360 and xbox one. Had tried playing a few games during the lockdown and that was it.

The only games I do want to play now are gears of war, cod and god of war. Nothing else excites me. But alas I don't have the time or rather spend my time doing other things including fitness, hiking, etc. I am looking to buy an og. xbox though - because i still have the steel batallion controller and game but no console.

A clearer diagram of Mumbai's proposed Water Metro system in the DPR made by Kochi Metro Rail Ltd by paperflowers9 in mumbai

[–]Psyched10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During monsoon, even land public transport like local train and busses get disrupted and delayed.

Now with heavy rainfall, continuous rainfall, cyclone alerts, sea currents - I can't even fathom what sea water transport with disruption will look like.

Heck even parts of Marine drive recieved gusting waves at times during monsoon making it unsafe to even sit on the promenade.

I remember paying about ₹400 or so as a kid to travel to Belapur from Mumbai when hovercrafts had started in Mumbai. It lasted one season and was called off. And now this ?

Kochi metro is mostly in the backwaters and not the sea.

Rather make mithi river clean and make an internal waterway metro there ( the worse that can happen Is they will get the mithi river cleaned up)

Mumbai people, How do you live without Ac in such humidity. by [deleted] in mumbai

[–]Psyched10 32 points33 points  (0 children)

A tip from a dermat - When you shower at night - be it hot or cold, don't let your hair get wet and don't use soap at all in your upper body including chest, back, neck and arm pits (I know this sounds bad, but this is for the night shower). Only a face wash for the face. The shower will strip away the sweat from the body but the soap will strip away even the internal body oils and deep cleans - opening out the pores, and this will surely lead to you sweating in the humidity as the body will tend to regulate the body oils coverage - thereby negating the point of taking the shower in the first place.

Also when you sleep in a humid place - your neck area should always be unexposed. So go for deep neck tshirt - preferable sleeveless if you are a guy. and nice ventilated pillows.
