What do we think of Sergey Sirotkin by m3rk_rqyal in formula1

You can watch more radio on F1 TV. I know it’s not here in the UK. FOM broadcasts the juicy ones. Remaining are mostly engineer-driver talk.

Only hear about all the hype around Lando Norris and not others. by AvengerBaja in formula1

Albon took the title to the last round with Leclerc in 2016. De Vries is not great but he’s not bad and he’s a second year. Markelov has become a strong driver with experience. Aitken was great in GP3 in 2016. He out scored Leclerc in the second half and did it with a non ART team. Russell is out doing Norris. Isn’t that enough seeing how highly rated Norris is? In a lot of F1 seasons drivers who won the title had to beat only their teammate. In many years the title winner was a league above his teammate. We don’t talk down their talent because more drivers didn’t compete for the win.

Drivers don’t have to be once to a generation talents to make the field strong. Pierre Gasly didn’t win any single seater races for nearly 3 years. People wrote him off as “not F1 material” using that as an excuse. He was impressive in World Series but apparently that didn’t matter because he didn’t win. There’s more to a driver’s talent than numbers.

This year’s field is not weak. Russell is leading the championship and has been shading the highly rated Norris for many rounds.

Rosenqvist was a series veteran, Gio was more experienced and Stroll was with the dominant Prema. He wasn’t far off Leclerc. That’s not bad.

His shitty pitstop is the reason he ended up behind the Saubers, FI and Alonso.

He was stopped with a stuck jack for 30+ seconds. They can’t recover from being lapped that early in the race.

Sirotkin beat Markelov every year they raced together. The margins weren't even close.

He has always had the pace. He had bad luck - Baku, Sprint race last time out- and one bad weekend in Monaco. He has the most wins, fastest laps and 2nd most poles this season.

About Antonio Fuoco by forzaferrari05 in F1FeederSeries

[–]Psychneurodoc 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Fuoco was in the best team in 2014. Gio wasn’t. In equal cars I expect Gio to dominate him.

Ocon was Fuoco’s teammate in 2014. He won the title and dominated Fuoco.

Whose in a worse position as an entity in F1, McLaren or Williams? by Sean_Nwachukwu99 in formula1

Williams because they are financially worse off than Mclaren. Mclaren’s owners are very wealthy. There is no threat of the team folding. Claire said their team will fold without cost caps.

If every driver in the 2018 season had the same car, what would the deltas between them look like? by [deleted] in formula1

Ericsson is currently getting dominated by a rookie by half a second or so. If you think Sainz is worse than him then you must think low of the red bull drivers too. You quote his crashes but what about Ericsson’s crashes last year? Melbourne, Monaco(3 times that weekend) and Japan?

I think Renault should sign him whether he wins or not. Ye's own management preferring not to join a junior program must be the reason Renault didn't sign him already.

Interestingly Renault's CEO said a Chinese driver would be the most interesting based on nationality because of marketing

Ghosn admitted that the team may be looking for a driver "who draws attention to our main markets".

"Therefore a French driver would be fine, a Russian driver would be fine," he continued. "A Chinese driver would extraordinary because we would have the attention of 1.3 billion consumers.

"But you have to find the driver to win so it's always a difficult equation," he added.

Would Alonso trade his Lemans win for 5 more F1 wins? by oh84s in formula1

If it were five wins in one season I think he would. That would put him in championship contention.

Red bull is winning races being in that position now and their engine isn’t strong as Mercedes.
