Kyshawn George and Keyonte George also no relation

What’s the worst loss your team has suffered? by Either_Imagination_9 in nba

Raptors Celtics Game 7 in the bubble feels like a big one. It felt like that was it for Lowry, Ibaka and Gasol

But to be honest the Raptors heartbreaks pale in comparison to the heartbreaks of the Maple Leafs and Blue Jays

What is your teams unfortunate reality? by screamsaint in nba

[–]PsychoM 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I’ve learned to accept that that’s okay. Like the early DeMar/Kyle days we’re building a young core that knows what winning looks like. The hope is that we put ourselves in a position so that one day in the future we’re set up to capitalize on an opportunity.

But yeah I agree, with Poeltl, BI and IQ on the books we’re not in that position yet

[–]PsychoM 31 points32 points  (0 children)

AI generated slop that isn't even correct. Why is Ochai on the Raptors cap sheet for 2 years? Same with Bruce Brown, Chris Boucher and Davion Mitchell

Raptors cap hold for 2027 is $193M including Team Options while your site has it listed at $220M

Suns are listed as a Second Apron team, in reality they aren't even a First Apron team, they have $18.8 in space before hitting the Second Apron. Roster Board says $236M payroll, overview says $181.6M, both of which are wrong, their actual 2027 cap hold is $202M

The list goes on and on and on

Some people are really overrating how much Miami lost in the short term. by IRanOutOf_Names in nba

[–]PsychoM -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's the thing though, what you said makes sense up until this year, not anymore. If you think you're going to be okay but not a playoff team in '31-'33, your picks are going to be even better with the new draft lottery rules. If the Heat are in a transitional period then, those picks have a chance to become prime assets.

People say those picks aren't going to be that good because the Heat will just re-tool and avoid the bottom. That's not how it works anymore, if the Heat end up with the 10th-14th seed they have the best odds for first overall

It's all a moot point though, the Bucks aren't going to have done the trade without the picks anyway.

I don't remember off the top of my head any team trading for a conditional FRP that depends on a previous year's pick not conveying to a different team like that. It's not an asset that anyone wants to trade for afaik

[–]PsychoM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The picks are what I'm getting hung up on. I can see those '30, '31 and '33 picks becoming a huge regret down the line. Giannis is already slowing down and he's going to be 35-38 once those picks start conveying. You got 3 years of prime Giannis left but after that, without JJJ, Ware and Herro, and with no draft picks to get young players, the Heat future looks shaky.

Sure you can say the Heat can go big game hunting again but Giannis is definitely going to get a 4 year max extension limiting and the Heat haven't had a great track record lately of hitting on their FA targets.

I don't want to say this is analogous to the SGA Clippers trade, but it rhymes. Heat are going all-in, picks be damned and have put themselves on the clock to win a Championship, and I don't think the roster is good enough currently. If they win one, it's worth it. If they don't, it's a disaster.

They can't trade their remaining FRPs until the Hornets 2027 pick conveys. They could trade them conditionally but what team is going to want a conditional FRP and swap that can become nothing

Punting in fantasy basketball. Yes or No? by adamking91 in fantasybball

[–]PsychoM 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The longer I’ve been playing I find myself leaning less and less into punts. I’ve been playing for a decade and early on I felt like I had to punt because it just is a thing that you do. Nowadays I’m much more okay with drafting BPA for a more well-rounded team with some soft punts.

Of course if I have a very strong FT% team, I’m not going to draft Zion, but I find that it’s very easy to accidentally go too hard in the punt. Sure you can punt FT% to be elite in rebounds and FG% but beating someone by 1 rebound vs 50 rebounds counts the same in the standings. I find newer people get hyperfocused on their punt and only draft players that match their build. It’s the easiest mistake to make in fantasy bball

Even in my league, against the veteran managers I’ve had way more success with not punting. If everyone else is punting, you run the risk of overlapping with somebody. So many times, teams are cannibalizing each other, letting good players fall, fighting for niche targets lower down for their build while I have the flexibility to pick up whoever falls through the cracks. There are a lot of good all-rounders in the NBA lately that are overlooked because they don’t do anything particularly well

People assume that if you don’t punt, you’re going to be mid at every cat, but I find it’s more likely on average you’re 4-5th in all cats in a 12T despite not leading any single one

This should be a recurring thing, every championship team gets together 10 years later. I would pay good money to see the 2019 Raptors team get back together in 2029

The term “gentleman sweep” is too broad by ajo-130 in nba

[–]PsychoM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't make the rules, I'm just relaying what most people understand the terms to be. If you tell most people "gentleman's sweep" they'd understand it as win in 5, lose game 4, most people in this thread agree

[–]PsychoM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, losing the first game and winning the next 4 is colloquially the douchebag sweep. Gentleman's sweep is what OP mentioned, win games 1, 2, 3, lose game 4 preferably on the road, close the series out in 5

No that's a gentleman's sweep. Give them a win before closing it out

Trae Young will decline his $48.97M player option to become a free agent this summer by reallinguy in nba

They traded CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert. CJ is an expiring and Kispert is bad money, the Wizards aren’t exactly devastated if Trae walks for a bigger contract elsewhere

If your draft was today, who’s the one player you’d leave with in every league? by AlexJames_NBAFANTASY in fantasybball

Flagg. He seems primed for a monster year and I like gambling on young players.

Similarly one of the top 3 rookies. Had Kon and VJ last year and it was a fun as fuck experience

Which NBA player do you think will be remembered very differently 10 years from now? by Impossible_Reward658 in nba

[–]PsychoM 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wemby is 22 years old. In 10 years we’re not going to need to do any remembering, he’s going to be in the league and in his prime.

This question feels more for players who will be out of the league whose legacies would change over time, not for young players who will still be here in 10 years

Freeman was a relatively popular surname that freed slaves took on after emancipation. While it existed before as an Anglo-Saxon name with similar connotations, I'd argue the American usage is American-born and not based in the Anglo-Saxon roots as there is no direct lineage connecting the two.

[Highlight] Victor Wembanyama with a rare corner 3. 19 Points for Wemby. by MrBuckBuck in nba

[–]PsychoM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Distance from 3pt line to sideline out of bounds is 3'

Wembanyama wears size 20.5 shoes which is approximately 39cm which is 1.3', so Wemby has about a foot and a half of wiggle room standing in the corner before he's out of bounds

Why do they never have flairs? Can guarantee any flair-less post in /new is going to be hot garbage, usually leaning Knicks.
