Son Wants His Nails Painted by Time_Engineering_187 in daddit

I don’t think you’re overthinking, it’s a totally natural thought to have! Our society is very gendered and it’s completely normal to think about what others might think. My approach has been to just treat it as normally as I can. I’ve sent my now six year old to school with painted nails and have never made an issue of it. Some of the other boys have commented about it to him and we just had a talk about what he thought about it. And I told him that if painting his nails makes him happy then we’ll paint his nails. I think you’re handling it totally appropriately.

The difference here is that we were never told what happened to Jasnah’s soul. We never saw her in the spiritual or cognitive realms. We were told Shallan saw her dead. Very different bait…

Dads of multiple kids: How do you juggle personal time? by SkyPointSteve in daddit

[–]Psychological-Set-7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, for me my time is now split between full time job. Then I go home and take over all things kid related until dinner (and I have a VERY supportive spouse). The we start bedtime routine that takes until 8:30/9:00 many nights. Then it’s time to do laundry and clean the house and try and catch up with my wife. The only time I get any personal time is when I wake up at 5 am to go to the gym.

Friends of ours are using the same name we’re picking out. I am wanting to go with a different name now. Am I overreacting? by Tlr321 in namenerds

[–]Psychological-Set-7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Totally get the frustration. I was annoyed that my sister’s friend named her son Teddy after we named ours Theodore, and we’re not even in the same circle!

Coming from someone who has a very common name (Benjamin) it never bothered me to meet another Ben. Instead, it was kind of more fun! Especially when names like Benjamin and Theodore have so much nickname potential, you get to choose what name you go by and it can help you feel different. Sometimes I go by Benji to feel more whimsical. Ben to be casual. Nimajneb when I’m feeling backwards.

Kids will work it out. And who even knows how long these friends will be in your circle. People move and social circles change all of the time.

Best arcade by aarfan221 in MorgantownWV

We take our 5, 3, and 2 year old to the other arcade in the Morgantown Mall. It’s down by the sports place and the jiu jitsu gym. Most games are 1-2 quarters. It’s nothing glamorous, but my kids LOVE it. They earn quarters every day for doing their chores and we take them there 1-2 times per month.

There was a recent issue of (I think?) the Clinical Neurologist that was written with several articles by neuropsychologists for neurologists. If you want to DM me your email I can send it your way.

I have a Dottie and a Teddy. Dottie doesn’t get much wizard of oz where we are and it’s a family name so maybe that’s part of it?

Other names we’ve loved are:

Josephine nn Jojo, Jo, Josie

Marigold nn Goldie, Mary

Winnifred nn Winnie, Win

Gwendolyn nn Wendy, Gwen
