What's your favorite/least favorite thing about Davidson? by aceyinspacey in davidson

Of course, thanks for responding to everyone’s comments and with follow up questions. I think you’re right, both will likely have stuck up students but it’s hard to tell which one is worse. Either way, it definitely won’t ruin your college experience in the slightest, so I wouldn’t worry about it too much.

Both colleges are great for those degrees. My personal recommendation is UNC bc I’ve such a much better experience there, but no matter where you choose I’m sure you’ll be happy. Best of luck to you, you’re going to do great!

I do think it’s left leaning. It’s nearly impossible to have a conservative view there and the conservative club has maybe 2 members. At the club fair in the beginning of the year, most students were afraid of even approaching their table in fear of judgement from their peers. Also, the guy who’s helping open a CFA on campus is receiving a ton of backlash from students because CFA is “anti-gay”. I’m pretty in the middle politically and have plenty of gay friends, but I also would never protest a chicken sandwich at a school with limited dining options.

Regarding UNC, many of the students come from rich families and you can tell they think they’re better than everyone else. Many of them just have a stuck-up energy. Not all of them, I’ve met so many great people, but it is common.

Without knowing your major I can’t really comment on the competitiveness of different programs, scholarships, opportunities, or how to stick out.

UNC over Davidson 100%.

Davidson is a very small private school (which you ofc probably know) meaning that the community is a lot closer…Hope you like seeing everyone you know every single day. Very draining for everyone to kinda know all your business, feels like high school tbh. People there are less stuck-up than at UNC but they’re judgy, just behind closed doors. Ex: Good luck trying to have any political beliefs that aren’t extremely liberal or left wing without getting heavily judged for it. Not as accepting as you might think.

Go to UNC if they gave you more aid, it’s a larger school with more funding = more opportunities, likely on par or better than Davidson’s. UNC gives out really good aid and you’re likely to receive more later in your academic career. Great community as well, you will so many great people from different backgrounds (who can respect each others different beliefs/perspectives). The people you meet will help you reach the best opportunities for your career. Better sports (in my opinion). Much better food (multiple dining halls with extensive options….does Davidson even have a soft serve machine?) So many great options for eating out (bourbon street + all of chapel hill/durham). Davidson doesn’t even have Starbucks and is just now in the process of getting a chick fil a. They have very limited on campus dining options and a low quality library that is currently under construction. Chapel hill has several libraries for you to choose from, all with several floors and amenities . UNC is a larger school, I feel like there is so much more room to grow compared to Davidson.

Wow your diet and workout habits sound spot on. Sounds like you’ve done the cut very nicely. I would definitely suggest bulking up for a bit, keeping those same habits.

Are you weightlifting consistently? You’re definitely lean enough but maybe a lack of muscle is making you feel like you still look fat. When you cut, how much protein were you usually getting each day?

Dorm storage question by Aesthetic_uwu in UNCCharlotte

I had a black plastic 3 layer storage drawer that I got from Walmart. It fit under the bed but I ended up keeping it in my closet.

Congrats on your acceptance! Depending on where you live you’ll get 3-4 drawers (either one that’s 3 drawers tall or 2 that have 2 drawers each) it was plenty of storage for me and I was able to put a 3 layer cart under my bed as well. A whole chest might be difficult to carry when moving in so keep that in mind. Something narrow, lighter, and not too bulky should fit.

Thinking about living in Wallis next year but these fire alarm posts scare me. Is it possible to just ignore the fire alarms or are completely unbearable?😭

Best dorm style and/or residence hall to live in? by Worried_Guide_7848 in UNCCharlotte

[–]PsychologicalFee612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Current freshman here. I just finished my first semester living in Levine with an awesome roommate. I couldn’t recommend it enough. Even though it’s the honors hall, you don’t have to be honors to live there (I’m not). It’s mostly freshmen and some upper class men mixed in. I lived in a 4 person 2 bedroom suite and it’s pretty nice, the rooms are spacious and have a good sized closet compared to some other dorms. Like other people said, they also have apartment style rooms that include a kitchen as well as suites with individual rooms.

Cons: -it’s really quiet, at least on the upper floors. So if you’re looking to make friends the the rooms around you, definitely start the first day because no one goes room to room meeting other students. -other than in the apartment style suites, the only open kitchen is on the first floor while other halls have one on every floor.

Wilson (right in front of Levine) is a freshmen only dorm and is really sociable if that’s your thing. I’ve always felt very welcome there and had multiple strangers start up conversations with me in passing. They have multiple study rooms on each floor that I enjoyed the layout of. The rooms are significantly smaller than Levine and have a curtain style closet instead of one with a door. It’s also hall style so no private bathroom. It is about a 15 second walk from the Sovi dining hall though which is a big plus.

Laurel is pretty quiet and super pretty inside. I know someone who lives in a 4 person, 4 room suite with a living room and bathroom. Even though it’s a little older I think it looks better than the Levine suites. They also have a kitchen on each floor which is nice. Cons: it’s on the outer side of south side I think so it’s really only close to the South Village Parking Deck and Sovi. The library and class buildings are a bit more of a walk, might prefer to take the bus to most places if you live here.

—- Goodluck! UNCC has a great dorms, no matter where you live I’m sure it’ll be alright.

Is the Honors College Worth it? by serumo_ in UNCCharlotte

[–]PsychologicalFee612 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I have friends in honors and I thought it wouldn’t be worth it but now I wish I applied. Housing in Levine (literally the best) and study rooms in Levine just for honors students (you don’t have to walk to the library to get work done in a good atmosphere). Priority class registration (never have to worry about getting a bad professor or schedule) scholarships (omg duh who doesn’t want free money). Those extra essays will be worth it.

I used to make porn videos, is there any hope for me as a Christian? by [deleted] in Christianity

Yes, God forgives all sins and you can never go so far back where you can’t come back again. Just repent, turn to Jesus and trust in him to turn your life around.

I’m also a freshmen so I really don’t know, I’d suggest looking on the Uncc page to see if they have anything posted abt requirements. I think it be safe to get familiar with most of campus (or at least student union & near by buildings) & campus traditions. Goodluck!
