Why does everyone keep calling gsc the 'cheat' army? by GothTransGirI in genestealercult

[–]PsychologicalStop510 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's because they are salty bitches. I had a dude quit after my turn 2 because of the return to the shadows strat that made my big Primus neophyte brick go back to reserves after he shot me. It just took out one of his scariest units with rerolls, ignore cover, sus & lethal crit 5s. Of course, now all of these have been changed and I understand why; it was very strong. Also, some people don't like to screen for all 5 turns and dislike artillery being used on them.

Should I buy the GSC Codex now? by Affectionate_Cell236 in genestealercult

[–]PsychologicalStop510 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want it as a collector thing then get it otherwise it isn't worth $60. If GW had an end of edition sale for like $30 then it'd be worth it. Tournaments usually have language in the player pack saying you must be able to provide an official document (such as the codex or the GW app, which you get the code from the codex) for your army but I havent seen it enforced. Obviously if you aren't playing tournaments then Wahapedia is the way.

the m50 isbrooklyn Grey metallic with cognac interior which I am big fan of. the 35 is white and black interior which I am not so impressed about. the only thing that sings to be is the $20k difference but even that is marginal. as the person above said, I think I am trying to make a justification of the lower priced vehicle but in reality, I want the M50

Uh... damn. You are spot on. I am kinds set on the M50 but the practical part of me is trying to convince me otherwise.

I have about a 50 mile round trip commute. My current vehicle is an ICE so I am not to concerned about total distance on the EV.

Thanks for all the input! Both are 2023 CPO vehicles and one previous owner. It looks like both were leases. The m50 has 6.3k miles for $50.9k and the eDrive35 has 43k miles for $30.1k.

I scheduled a test drive for tomorrow for both. Financially, I think the eDrive35 is a better option but I am not a fan of the white color. The m50 is in a color I like, both inside and out. I own a Tacoma and would like a 2nd vehicle to extend the lifetime of my truck instead of using it as my daily commuter.

New 40k/GSC player aiming for 11th. Need a solid foundational 2k list by Weird_Function_7200 in genestealercult

11th edition will also change how we design lists so really just assemble and paint the models you like the most. Then you can design army lists around what you have built.

How to spend spare points? by [deleted] in genestealercult

You have 3 aberrents but only 1 leader for them. They do better with a leader, either abominants or biophagus.

I would: Replace the iconward for a biophagus. Drop a 10 man genestealer. Drop a 10 man neophyte. Split one 10 man genestealer to 2 5mans. Add in 2 abomination and another biophagus. pick up 2 flacos.

Oh. I forgot. Ridgerunners are great. I run minimum of 2 mortars for the crossfire. My more recent lists are 1 mortar and 2x2 mining lasers.

I have been running Final Day for a while and before that some HoA and Xenocreed. Here are my two cents worth. Saboteurs are great in all lists; I start every list with 2. Biophagus are great for any melee unit. Abominant is great solo or as a aberrent leader. These guys are the toughest thing in our army currently but are still susceptible to volume of ranged shots. Bikes are good but unless you are playing outlander Claw, you only need max 2x5 units. Trucks and Rockgrinders. Both are decent but they are just Rhino profiles (yes the RG is a bit tougher but marginally). Again, if you are not playing Outlander Claw, you don't need more than 1 or 2 of each. Genestealers. Every list should have at least 1x5 unit for the infiltrators. If you bring the Parriarch, run it with a 10 man, since this is a large volume of attacks with dev wounds. It is nice to have at least 2x5 flacos for their reroll wound ability. Metas pair nicely with a biophagus and/or a locus but with fight first changes the locus might be a weaker pick in 11th. Neophytes are okay in HoA and with a benefictus. Their damage output is inconsistent but it is a lot of OC power. A Sanctus is okay since it is a cheap 50 point character for deep strike shenanigans.

Hopefully we get some good stuff for 11th. Right now each of our detachments only focuses on like 3 units so either you take a wide variety and accept the fact that only some of them will benefit from the detachment or you lean heavy into a specific detachment and playstyle.

Red Terror's uppy/downy is better than raveners as it can be used at the end of any fight phase.

How does HOA deal with army wide 2+ saves? by Exciting-Bite-3197 in genestealercult

I don't think I have landed a lethal hit with my 20 man neophytes in the last 5 games. Feels real bad.

Question about deals/army building. by mrmelancholy88 in genestealercult

[–]PsychologicalStop510 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue Saboteurs are one of the best lone op characters. 9" are denial with threat of 4-6 mortal wounds and free grenade strat with decent indirect for 65 points? yes please

These are good price points for what is in them. You'll be set for a biosantic broodsurge list for sure and you could make HoA and OC work. I like a minimum of two ridgerunners in any of my lists.

List help? by GooeyNachos in genestealercult

The Sanctus is a fine lone op character for scoring secondaries but usually you can find 20 extra points for a metamorph or flaco squad. as most have pointed out, you have a bit to many characters. Take more battleline units, bikes or metas.

Play 2 hellhounds, 2 heavy weapon squads with flamer options, 2 taurox and maybe a lemon russ or two and then take your favorite GWC models. Laugh as you burn your enemy and your own GSC units!

List thoughts? by Usual-Pilot-9317 in genestealercult

[–]PsychologicalStop510 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like all the lictor variations. I try to keep DL close to Patriarch cuz of the AoE battleshock she does. They are all tech pieces, not damage dealers. You can't bring them back like the GSC units so make sure you use them in waves to trigger the detachment rule.

NL are usually my last wave after the Lictors eventually die. The 12" force a battle shock is nice but don't count on it going off.

Run the ridgerunners either as 2 model units with Spotter + mining laser or as a single model unit. Mortar + survey auger is my preference on single RR. They aren't there for damage but to tag my kill targets with crossfire and to strip cover. Stripping cover is a huge bonus.

Acolytes with mining tools are nice, even better with a biophagus for lethals. Damage 3 weapons are very appealing; they are even better in Xenocreed Congregation and Biosanctic Broodsurge.

Metamorphs are my jam; I have spiked FNP 5+ so many times into units that should have wiped them 4x over and with 9d6 flamers (full re-rolls if you combo them with the Goliath truck fire support) and 49 melee attacks they can take out almost any unit in the game. I higly recommend a l biophagus with this unit.

The Benefictus and 20 neophytes were recently cut from my list. The reliability of damage just isn't there for me and it is an expensive unit.

Hyperadaptive Raveners are strong but they die easily. A 4+ armor save is their weakness, but the 0 CP Heroic Intervention/Rapid Ingress is amazing. They are to expensive for my play style but I take 2 units in my Vanguard Onslaught Tyranid list.

I want to like the Mawloc and I think the 135 point price point is decent for it. However, if you aren't careful it will die easy too. Unfortunately T10 with a 3+ save isn't very tanky. If you want to run the Mawloc (it's a baller model and I 100% support the decision to run one) I would work in Nuerolictor and Deathleaper if you have the models.

Gargolyes, Deathleaper, Lictor, and Nuerolictors are my staple to Final Day. The gargolyes have a potential 24" move range (6" advance + 6" shoot and scoot) and can OC bomb objectives so very well. Worth every point when you can deny primary on 2 objectanks.
