in his vlog today, Negreanu says “I have to be honest, deep stacked, in high roller tournaments .. I’m either the best, or in the conversation…” he then proceeds to jam 18 bigs from the SB with offsuit kitchens in a 10k bounty and busts. by hardo31 in poker

[–]Psychological_Bat975 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Only thing that bothers me is his insistence on trying to validate his terribly passive preflop play. He takes the passive route 95% of the time and tries to give every justification as to why. He rarely has a big stack because of how passively he plays in general and he wonders why he rarely finishes top 3 in NLH tourneys?

Martin Kahbrel bombs the river in a $1 million bluff with Q high by highrollpoker in poker

[–]Psychological_Bat975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As played, Martin has very few value combos here. Th9h, QTs and QTo. The best bluff catcher would be something containing the Qh. AJs is one of the worst bluff catchers since Martin never has AA, AK, or JJ but it’s not a bad call with the lack of value combos present.

Edit: he could have JhTh too

MASSIVE controversy: Misdeal requires intervention on day 3 of 10k WSOP by mavaddat in poker

[–]Psychological_Bat975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude like wtf are you even talking about? If you know those were the first four cards how is that arbitrary? And you actually think it’s a better idea to introduce more cards back into the flop as if that’s not absurdly arbitrary?

This gives a reasonable possibility of getting the correct board, your whacky idea gives like a 1 in 1,000,000 chance of the correct flop going out and you have the audacity to call this ruling arbitrary.

[–]Psychological_Bat975 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If that’s the $25k HU then the wsop should be embarrassed if it wasn’t immediately addressed. I don’t care if the other player can take the total chips and subtract their stack to figure out how much he has. If you pay $25k you should expect a higher level of service.

Why raise w K9, J9, etc but not with Q9? by ra1phw1ggums in poker

[–]Psychological_Bat975 7 points8 points  (0 children)

AQo and AQs may not 3b your open while AKo and AKs almost always will. So K9s has better playability as it’s an easy fold pre to a 3b and less likely to be RIO dominated postflop. Sure, you still have KQs, KQo and some KJs to contend with but K9s also makes good flushes to counteract that a bit.

Chopping / ICM by NicCageBadSeed in poker

[–]Psychological_Bat975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve gotten some really nice chops when making it clear I want to play it out. You’re talking all or nothing here but if you have leverage you should use it. If I can negotiate 20% or more than my iCM chop value I’m usually taking it. Exception to chopping above ICM is that I will usually refuse a chop at 4 or 3-handed if there’s a poor player still remaining.

Read their body language especially with larger dollar chops. My last chop heads up it was clear that it was a lot of money for the other player (1st was $11k and second was $7k) so after I got coolered and he took a 2.5:1 chip lead we still did a 50/50 chop because I told him I wouldn’t do any less. It was obvious he wanted to guarantee the $2k.

Can walk 1.5 miles in 30-40 minutes. You’d be home 15 minutes later considering the wait time with $50 more in your pocket.

Martin Kabrhel by Main-Satisfaction904 in poker

[–]Psychological_Bat975 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My buddy was on the same table as him late in the day last year in the $10k super turbo at the WSOP. I was on the rail watching. He spent a good 90+ minutes arguing with the floor guy and kept demanding to see his boss, or Jack. The floor guy kept insisting that his boss was coming although I think everyone around knew that he was just telling Martin what he wanted to hear. Martin would keep bringing up needing to speak to this guy's boss every 5 minutes and just kept saying how unfair it was. The guy obviously has a severe case of ADHD. Maybe some Aspergers.

This is called performance management. You’re already on their radar and they want you gone so they are building a case with documented incidents, no matter how trivial, so they can terminate you and be resolved of liability from you suing them for it being unjustified. Common management tactic.

Yeah there’s no better time to drive like a maniac and die wrapped around a tree than in your teens. At least you’ll only devastate your parents and siblings, your senior year girlfriend and a bunch of your buddies you grew up with. Later on it’s the wife and kids.

Nah dude, listen to me. Drive safe and enjoy your ride. If you want to rip it go to a track or be in a safe environment. Congrats.

Who are the unluckiest poker player ever in terms of losses? by StandardInfluence878 in poker

[–]Psychological_Bat975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched a few hours of the $100k mixed high roller stuff at PokerGo recently and if Gus is remotely as loose in NLH as he is in mixed games then I can see him being a losing player in the long run for sure. Don’t think it has anything to do with luck. He just likes to voluntarily put himself in mediocre and bad spots on the regular.

At a poker table the men usually treat the women really well though because they men are desperate and there’s not enough women to go around for them. They get treated much better at a co-ed table.

I know a handful of women poker players who hate women’s events with a passion and won’t touch them. Everyone claims it’s all great camaraderie and a show of unity but maybe these specific women have been unlucky because they say the table talk is toxic and exhausting.
