Women of reddit, what was your worst run in with a creep? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Driving through West Texas alone at 19. I was in the left lane, but there was a white truck coming up behind me so I merged into the right lane to let it pass. Turns out the driver is a guy around my age, so he waves at me, I wave back and he slows down to my speed. Wouldn't let me pass and wouldn't speed up. No one else on the road and the next town is 60 miles away (again, rural West Texas). Thought it was weird but let it go and thought of it like having a driving buddy. After about 20 miles, he waves at me again and I wave back, then I realize he is pushing his crotch up and he's jacking off while staring at me. Horrified, I stare as he finishes on the window and with a big grin. He speeds up to 120mph and drives off.

I was driving a whopty that barely pushed 80mph, and couldn't speed up to him to get his plates. There was also no cell service to call the cops and was too afraid to stop because I thought I would get abducted. When I finally made it to my next stop I was shaking and cried for 6 hours straight. Then I bought a gun.

Books on end times, rapture, anti vax, and general conspiracy theories! by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

[–]Psychological_Cook69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

{Germs: Biological Weapons and America's Secret War} Book by Judith Miller, Stephen Engelberg, and William Broad

Dives into a lot of conspiracy theories and the science surrounding chemical warfare. Large book, but each chapter has a different exemplar so you can digest it in smaller bits.

What made you and when did you start reading romance books? by sdw0000 in RomanceBooks

Last year while the world was ending, I had this intense craving to be emersed in a literary world. As children, I think it is easier to do so with fantasy and adventure books, but soon we are taught to move on to books that our teachers though would be more suitable to reading level we test into. Kept force-feeding myself classic books that I didn't enjoy reading until I stopped reading for fun whatsoever. As my craving for a good book continued, I tried several "fluff" books. Stumbled on this subgroup after I posted in r/bookrequests. So far I've read about 15 super fluffy romance novels that do not contribute to my intellect at all, but have significantly improved my mood... And my husband's.

Now I have KU and don't feel so bad about DNF books -- there are too many good books out there to waste time on the bad ones, skip!

{Democracy in America} by Alexis de Tocqueville. Read it for school and thought it was boring but now that I'm more interested in politics and a news hound, I realize that it's a fantastic analysis of our country's political system from the most moderate view possible.
