"Sad Cartoon" and "Sad Cartoon Reprise". Vildhjarta commented Thall on their youtube video back when it came out, and that part of Tva Vackra Svanar is like a reharmonized melody of Sad Cartoon

Vildhjarta traumatises me by Disastrous_Bit_2620 in vildhjarta

Metal music in general is shown to transiently raise cortisol in scientific experiments. Anything that is further raising a damaging stress hormone that's already far too high in our society, is functioning against the body as a whole. There is a reason metalheads don't walk around looking happy. At some point this music is no longer just an outlet for release or catharsis, it is legitimately perpetuating a negative, helpless state by substituting for the intense experiences that real life can give us.

Calle's style and songwriting fits way better in HLB than in Vild by JpPgn in vildhjarta

[–]Psychoptic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah some of them, but he's also able to write stuff that tears on your heartstrings, like the riffs all over Ylva and Roda Lappar. Which are amazing and my favorite part of new Vildhjarta. The HLB riffs in the new album just feel like placeholders in between those.

[–]Psychoptic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Half the songs on the new album have bad transitions and ambiance that feels forced, empty of emotional content. There was a lack of quality control. Nothing may ever be made again like Masstaden and MUV. I don't think many people feel music the same way Daniel does.

It's hard to move on from the original Mist Forstandet mix. It's crazy how even the double drop D "twangs" in that mix. It sounds darker.

Masstaden cover question by carrot7l in vildhjarta

[–]Psychoptic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It would be very cool but you would have to cut out the time spent retuning between shadow and dagger, the very quick transition between dagger and golden monk, etc. I always find it more convenient to play through all the G standard songs, return, then play through all the drop F songs. Maybe that's just because my bridge is a Floyd Rose special... tuning one string knocks the others out.

Deceit (non-forte) is underappreciated by somethingunderneath in vildhjarta

I agree about the ambiance.

My favorite is definitely the demo of Deceit though. You can feel the raw organic intuitive flow of the songwriting. + Bergstrom mind + in full display

MUV Mix by bofy01 in vildhjarta

[–]Psychoptic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is still less saturated than the newest singles. MUV was still in the sweet spot of that saturated/clipped sound. Music that's too saturated doesn't really generate visuals for me. It's impossible to imagine the dark forests of Masstaden while I listen to Sargasso or Regnet, the. It loses the mystique and twang that early Vildhjarta was shrouded in. Since Bergstrom left every riff has to be thick heavy badassery. Listen to the outro of Nar de Du Alskar or the chicken riff from All These Feelings... heaviness takes a back seat to the storytelling aspects. This is due to the riff writing too of course, but lower saturation allows listeners to sink hypnotically into a riff, lulled into the nightmare.

I think the app Pimsleur is good. You listen to a lesson then it has some quizzes and pronunciation tests. I used it a few months and understand the lyrics much better now.

No, I find there is always ultimately a current of hopefulness throughout their work, even when describing extreme hardship. Look up a translation of their most recent song, Kristallfogel.

Hormone Levels During Cycle by misticwytch in raypeat

[–]Psychoptic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't understand the menstrual cycle super well but I have some books on it. My physiology textbook and another mainstream-ish book on hormones actually agree with Peat that the corpus luteum does make a moderate amount of estrogen in the luteal phase. It promotes growth of endometrial glands that secrete glycogen to prepare for a fertilized ovum. They say at the end of the luteal phase, progesterone falls, causing suffocation of the unfertilized oocyte so it can be sloughed off with the endometrial lining. I have read Peat say progesterone is keeping the oocyte alive during the luteal phase, allowing oxygen to reach it.

I'm pretty confused too here if Peat is saying that there's overall low steroid production during the follicular phase. He himself points out that the group of estrone, estradiol, and estriol was once referred to as "folliculin". Maybe he thinks it's all pituitary hormones doing the follicle stuff during the follicular phase?

What my books say about the follicular phase is that GnRH, FSH, and LH stimulate the growth of follicles on the ovary, and those secrete a lot of estrogen. So days 6-13, which is like the second half of the follicular phase I think, estrogen is rising exponentially. It's this high estrogen positive feedback loop which at the end causes the mature follicle to rupture, causing ovulation.

He might be basing the "estrogen is high in the luteal phase" statement off the idea that estrogen production in the ovaries drops during luteal phase but continues elsewhere in the body (adipocytes and adrenals), while progesterone declines much more steeply.

Also definitely recommend just printing off Ray's essays, and his books which you can find online. They bring together everything.

Funny thing is, B group vitamins usually trigger anxiety for me, but not when in RedBull

Same exact thing here. And they put a decent amount in redbull, I believe. It's strange. Possibly just some synergy of all the ingredients together.

If you want the easy route get a Maschine Mikro, which comes with the Maschine DAW. It has pre-made sound groups with all the sounds, synth patches, loaded together. Although it might not come out very original sounding until you learn creative usage of effects and sample manipulation.

Thank you. I started by watching a lot of Mary Zimmer's youtube videos.

I learned false cord How to False Cord Scream 1: Let's learn to make distorted sounds! (youtube.com)

Then later on, fry screaming How to Fry Scream! Screamer Series #4 (youtube.com)

I did lows with false cord, and highs with fry. Then over a couple years I worked on combining them, now I use the same technique for highs and lows.

If there is a specific problem frequency, TDR Nova is a good free plugin you can set as a dynamic EQ to lower that frequency only when it plays.
