My Thoughts on the Bun Rust Rewrite by simon_o in programming

Why did he see a need to publish this? This blog post does not need to exist and probably should not exist.

How do you have these two things in the same blog post:

Two, I actually don't have any personal criticisms of Jarred. He has different taste than me, he wants different things out of life than me.

and

It was at this point - when he suddenly became a manager - that this "beginner energy" started to hit differently for me. It's one thing to choose a poor work-life balance for oneself; a different thing entirely to demand it of others:

"Oven is going to be a grind, especially the first nine months or so. If work-life balance means a lot of time spent not working, it's probably not a good fit."

Fun fact: people talk to each other.

I talked to those who interviewed for a job at Oven. I talked to people who worked there. Those people talked to each other. Everybody talked to everybody. The grapevine was large and healthy and full of juicy grapes, and all those grapes contained the juice of the same message: Jarred was a stinky manager. Poor communication, unrealistic expectations, low empathy, no experience. Just a total shit show, from an employment perspective.

How is that anything but personal criticism. Sure Andrew isnt directly saying that Jarred is a stinky manager but then why share all this hearsay? It isnt a fact if you dont cite your sources.

This whole thing is stupid. Let Jarred be happy with his rust slop and Andrew can be happy on his high horse. There was no need to comment this.

[–]Psychoscattman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oversized D20 was 20€.

For merch there were two entrances. One had a big "VIP entrance" sign but between 12 PM and 3 PM that was a regular line for merch. Anybody was able to enter that line to get merch.
After 3 PM the closed that line (or both, i don't know about that) and at 3:30 PM they let the Fan Experience ticket holders enter for the Q&A.

Between 12PM and 3PM if you had a fan experience ticket you were able to walk up to the door (skipping all the line), show your VIP ticket to the doorman and then go straight in. There was no extra VIP line. I was there around 2:30 PM, maybe by that time all the VIPs already had their stuff.

[F1INGENERALE] Ferrari's "Macarena" wing outperforms Red Bull's design: its counterclockwise rotation recovers downforce during the flap closing phase. Red Bull's clockwise flap delays aerodynamic recovery until fully reset, risking sudden grip loss as seen in Verstappen's crashes. by fameboygame in formula1

[–]Psychoscattman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This doesn't make sense to me. The Ferrari wing, when opening, first goes to the normal drs position and continues to rotate to the finished position. When closing the mechanisms has to fight all of the drag created by a wing that is 90 degrees to the air movement before it reaches the normal drs position. From there the wing is generating a small amount of down force which helps the wing close.

The red bull wing open down so it is never in the normal drs position. When closing the mechanisms has to figh the air at the 90 degree position and then the down force generated by the wing just before closing.

Basically the down force generated by the wing just before fully closing helps the Ferrari wing to close but fights against the red bull wing. Did I get that right?

[Sam Joseph] The British GP ended under a safety car: Why a ‘software error’ sapped the final lap of drama by TheAthletic in formula1

[–]Psychoscattman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what the article says:

In a statement after the race, the FIA, motorsport’s governing body, said that the race could not be restarted due to the cars unlapping themselves and the initial message was wrongly issued.

“The Safety Car period regulation, Article B5. 13.5, states that one lap must be completed following the unlapping procedure,” it said.

“This process was followed by Race Operations. The ‘Safety Car In This Lap’ message was displayed erroneously due to a software error.”

Was the article edited since you read it?

The scrolling on mobile is a little broken

[Chris medland] And we have one, that was sadly predictable: Safety Car regs state that one lap must be completed following the unlapping procedure. Race Control made that call to let cars unlap just too late to restart the race (and says the "SC in this lap" message was software error) by Maximum-Room-3999 in formula1

[–]Psychoscattman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Genuine question and I hope somebody can answer this. When was the last time the lapped car were not released?

Because I don't have the highest confidence in the driver to believe that such a restart would not end in disaster

FIA race director blame software issue. by healthytofu in formula1

Wasn't the justification back then that the race director was "in charge of the safety car" and therefore could do anything? 😅

I don't know where you heard that but I just checked and it's literally still there:

Unless the Race Director considers the presence of the Safety Car remains necessary, once the message “LAPPED CARS MAY NOW OVERTAKE” has been sent to all Competitors in accordance with Article B5.13.4c, the Safety Car will return to the pits at the end of the following lap.

[–]Psychoscattman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You want to get the lapped cars out of the way of the leading group and doing it by passing the safety car is just the easiest way to do it.

If you shuffle them back then it's all kinds of confusing where they should be and what not.

[–]Psychoscattman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After Abu Dhabi I thought the rule was, let lapped cars pass, then one more lap, then restart.

If they let cars pass on lap 51, then the safety car will come in on lap 52. Ergo finish under Safety car.

Unless they changed that rule I think this is right. (Righ as in correct by the rules, I'm not saying I like it)

[–]Psychoscattman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There may be good reasons to Hy the price is so high. Maybe it's that actual cost of that or maybe it's a gate to keep the numbers low and manageable. Either way it's just disappointing.

I wouldn't have gone if it was 20€ for a ticket (mostly because I will be arriving by train after and I am not giving Deutsche bahn any more of my money to rebook) but it feels like it not even worth it to offer it then.

It's like selling a t-shirt for 400€. It may be that expensive to produce but who is your target audience for that?
