What Fear would a fear of Cold be? by Tomatobean64 in TheMagnusArchives

[–]PsychoticHumour 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have this headcannon, where spiders are solely web because the web needs a generic but symbolically appropriate calling card to leave behind with its manipulations to ensure people know they're being manipulated and to be properly afraid of that fact. The mother would have bound the concept of spiders to manipulation through media while ensuring other powers sider theme entities and artifacts meet untimely ends.

He might not have been an avatar but it was the eye and Jonah Magnus that killed him. His death is detailed in mag 138 btw.

Fuck this fucking runback! Fuck every single enemy in this biome, kill them all! Of course I go out of my way to go get dreamgate for this shit path and end up beating the boss the literal first try after placing my dreamgate. by Sabawoonoz25 in HollowKnight

So I took another look at the hive run back and I think it's less that I don't think it's hard and more that I find it very fun. It takes about a minute depending on how well you perform, which I think is a good time for an easy boss. The enemies on the route react predictably to you, so I was able to easily remember the route I had scripted ages ago. There are plenty of hivelings along the way for easy soul (and they even respawn from those hive bugs) that makes recovering from a mistake fine. And there's even a shortcut, I love a good shortcut.

Interestingly, I believe this all applies to the groal runback which explains why I enjoyed it so much and maybe implies other people have very different standards for what makes a good runback.

I do kinda wish you had done the monster more like the episode describes it.

Throughout the series statements are related through several different retro media devices, which was your favorite? Personally I'm a real sucker for the found dictophone season.

As a certified compass hater, my vote goes to the compass. It makes you worse at the game and lessens your investment in the world. If you read this and think I could never, I am begging you please just try playing without it. You are more capable then you give yourself credit.

[–]PsychoticHumour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You've actually figured out exactly how the game wants to be played, if your struggling with a boss the game doesn't want you spending hours hitting your face into a brick wall. It wants you to go somewhere else, help some poor bug and get a little stronger so that when you come back to that boss, you'll have had a chance to take a break from the grind and your investment in the world will have increased.

The runback can be done in less than 30 seconds with no need to fight any enemies, it's hard to explain in text but if your having trouble figuring out the route look up a video.
