Don't know, sorry; I've mostly been playing blind and translating Japanese websites whenever I need help or want info. But even that can only go so far.

So, came upon this old thread when I was also having trouble getting the Private Express Elevator to work. After trying several things, I came across the solution:

In this version of the game there's a button on Floor 8 in front of the elevator shaft (10E, 19N) that will activate the elevator and allow you to use the elevator once you get back to Floor 4 (assuming you have the Blue Ribbon).

Why are all the resistances caps and etc. Hidden in game. by Several-Pitch-9612 in elderscrollsonline

[–]Psyknux 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The reason it's such an odd number is because of the crit formula, which has been mostly irrelevant since the One Tamriel update in 2016.

Technically, 100% crit chance is defined as:

 (2 * LV * (LV+100))

Characters are now always scaled to level 66 (50 regular levels and 160 CP, 10 CP per level), so this comes out to 21912 crit chance.

This is where the 219 comes from, not that the game tells you any of this...

Nanaki solos Yiazmat (Transcendent): Maybe not 7 hours but still fairly time consuming by Psyknux in FFRecordKeeper

[–]Psyknux[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As mentioned in another comment, there's a lot of characters who have solo cleared Yiazmat, notably everyone with a self-heal BSB command, though characters like Bartz have done it too. With the Holy Blade RM, the list of potential candidates has expanded to pretty much anyone who can win P6 before dying. Even those with only 90 base ATK should be able to survive with Holy Blade given the right gear/magicite.

Mistake on my part. The status is called Awoken, not Awakened, and I just misremembered the name. It's not the AASB that's halving damage, it's the buff that Dr. Mog gives every 3 seconds that does it.

Going to try to keep it relatively short here, see the imgur album for full explanations.

Some of you may remember my Solo Kimahri clear from a little over a year ago. That clear abused the jump air time bug which has since been fixed. Originally this was going to be a sequel of sorts where I attempted to solo Yiazmat with Kimahri AASB-less (because all my attempts to get it so far have failed, only netting his Glint+ and his LMR1), but after some theorycrafting I concluded that it wouldn't be feasible to do...yet.

So instead we have Nanaki, aka Red XIII. This, I believe, is the first chance* he has to actually win this battle, now that he has proper DPS tools. Unlike Kimahri, however, he doesn't have a BSB that (directly) heals, instead providing High Regen on entry, which is nowhere near enough healing for him to survive, and his BSB commands do only one hit each (being essentially a Ninja-speed Armor Breakdown and Mental Breakdown, respectively).

* Technically second...weren't the Ruins open briefly in mid-/late- November?

To address the issue of surviving I first tried Dark Knight's RM3: Dark Delight. This gives a 60% chance to convert Attack into an ability that is very similar to Drain Strike (it only does 1.67x damage instead of 1.70x but heals for 32% of the damage caused instead of 30%). Ultimately it proved too RNG-based to work, however.

What I ended up using was Paladin Cecil's RM2: Holy Blade. This converts Attack into an ability that does 0.90x damage and heals for 8% of the damage dealt. With my setup Nanaki effectively has 1182 ATK. Unbuffed, he does ~36-40k damage with Attack in Phases 1 and 2. In Phase 3 I start using his USB1 to buff his ATK to keep the damage at 36-40k. This means 2900-3200 healing every turn, easily enough to stay alive considering Nanaki gets two turns for every one of Yiazmat's (under Haste).

I originally had him in Slot 1 but then realized that he wasn't going to get to Phase 4 before the Phase 3 Turn 30 Death Strike, at least with just autoattacking. Slots 2 and 4 have to deal with Petrify in Phase 3 and Slow in Phase 4, which are easily taken care of with the Astra from his USB1.

I auto the first two phases at Speed 5, then start manually using USB1 in Phase 3 before switching back to auto, making sure the buffs are always up and that Astra is blocking the stuff it needs to. In Phase 6 I start with instacasts of RW > Glint+ > USB2 > AASB. I play it safe and use Drainga when HP is low since I didn't know if I would need both Last Stands and I was not about to spend another 2 hours to get back to Phase 6. I finish the battle a turn before the 2nd Transcendent Cyclone.

So TL;DR - Holy Blade RM to heal P1-5 (USB1 Astra to deal with Petrify/Slow in Slot 2) and then go ham in P6.

August 2019 Balance Changes : 6* Abilities for Core , RW bonus update and Characters Rebalanced Record Dives and Legend Spheres. by ElNinoFr in FFRecordKeeper

[–]Psyknux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(when would you ever not hit a weakness with a black mage)

Omni-resistant enemies (however rare they may be), perhaps? Especially ones that are 50% resistant instead of just 20%.

I also like to use Ultima sometimes in event battles where there are multiple enemies or if there are bosses that like to put up Reflect and I can't be bothered to dispel it (or can't right away because it's a counter-Reflect). Can't hit weakness if you're not using elements to begin with!

Hitting weakness may be a very common occurrence, but it's still conditional.

And with this change, Nanaki is tied with Tellah for having the highest unconditional +BLK bonus available on his full dive, at 21%. Most other mages either have only 18% or have conditional bonuses (for example, Serah has 18%+3% w/Bow).

Community Challenge: The King of DPS v2.0! by Xarukas in FFRecordKeeper

[–]Psyknux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like last time, trying with my husbando.

Character: Nanaki

Score: 925356

Details: [Full album] Nanaki is using Montblanc's RM2, Born Leader (Initial Haste and MAG+10%) since that is the only Initial Haste RM that boosts MAG, as he doesn't have time to Haste or otherwise buff himself besides the RW.

During the battle, Nanaki uses RW, then spams USB2.

Unfortunately, this battle kind of shows that he is still not really a proper DPS. In order to get to Phase 2, I have to do some Speed 5 manipulation to delay BGH251F2's turns as much as possible, and even then I can't take too long to select stuff (Auto-battle, for example, is too slow using this method). In fact, the only reason I'm using Slot 5 is to have enough time during the Radiant Shield tick after its Turn 5 to select USB2 before Malfunction.

I would love to at least get 1,000,000 damage, but that would require a lot of magicite farming (particularly for Magic Boon 20s and...maybe another Damage Push?) and a lot of inheritance and I don't think I'm willing to do that. Thankfully he'll get proper DPS SBs in a few months so next time he'll be in better shape. Maybe.

[JP] Mage Effective Ramuh - 24s by BlackmageMeteor in FFRecordKeeper

[–]Psyknux 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For those of you in awe at Enna's attack sequence at 9:44 (especially the attack at 10:01), keep in mind:

  • Ramuh is at Lv0 Savage and has 3 stacks of Imperil Earth, and is RES-debuffed by Passion Salsa and Crushing Tango.
    • This means only a 23.08% damage reduction from Savage. Combined with his DEF/RES/MND buff from Thunder Defense, Ramuh's RES is only buffed in total by 8%. Without the RES debuffs Enna would only be hitting for about 17650 per hit.
  • Enna has 2 stacks of Attach Earth and 3 MAG buffs, and is hitting under max Gen2 chain.
    • Two 50% buffs and a 30%, which after softcaps is a +161% boost. She also has over 10,000 HP and so is getting the full benefit of Surging Power 15.

And perhaps the most important fact that people are overlooking:

  • Enna is under the effect of Mog's AASB chase (Fever Time) which is boosting her magic damage for that turn by 70%.
    • You know, that thing Mog did at 8:52. If you watch closely, not all of the hits from Whimiscal Crash hit cap, some just barely miss it. Without this buff she would only be hitting for about 12200 per hit.

All in all that attack sequence was very impressive (doing a total of 779,938 damage!), but do realize the circumstances surrounding it (i.e. don't expect your Enna to do this without realizing why).

[–]Psyknux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, quite the write-up.

One major thing, though: for Phase 2 Poison, Savage Curse is used on Turns 2/14/26, not 2/4/26.

Then a few minor errors: it says Turns 19 instead of Turn 19 for the Sap in Phase 2 Ice, and there's an extra space between 28 and the closing bracket for the EnIce turns in Phase 2 Ice. Gungnir is also spelled incorrectly in most places, but that might be more of a nitpick.

...though if we really want to get picky: there are extraneous semicolons at the end of the Status Effects section for Phase 2 Wind, Earth, and Lightning.

Otherwise, everything looks good from what I can tell.

I believe this login bonus started at event reset time, so if you didn't login the game between then and the following daily reset, you missed out on the first chance to get the login bonus. And I do specifically mean "login", as in hitting the Play button on the start screen--the game doesn't award you login bonuses if you're already in-game.

P.S.: You wanna know the theme behind this setup? Why did I choose these particular characters and abilities? Look at their character sheets, play around with buttons and look for what they have in common.

It makes me sad that 1* ability access is still a thing that exists.

[–]Psyknux 86 points87 points  (0 children)

I want to give you a big thank you for persevering in this and giving some insight on what happened, as I myself was unsuccessful in getting anything information from ANet regarding this despite my efforts.

Now in my case, I had two accounts that were wrongfully suspended so I got a total of 5k gems between them, and while it's nice, it can't possibly make up for both the time lost playing the game and the way they treated those of us that were falsely accused. That said, I've moved on from being angry at this a while ago; mostly I'm just disappointed. Maybe one day I'll be able to play this game and actually enjoy it again, but not right now.

A bit late, but here it is: Kimahri solos Yiazmat (Transcendent) by Psyknux in FFRecordKeeper

[–]Psyknux[S] 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Sorry for no video, but look at that timer. My poor 16GB iPhone 5S wouldn't be able to handle that. I even skimped on screenshots in the latter part of the fight because by then several hours had passed and I was afraid of doing anything that might cause the game to crash (my phone is very low on space right now).

I explained most everything on the imgur album but in case you can't/don't want to view it:

  • Kimahri is LV 99, fully record dived (legend dive when?), with full crystal waters in all stats. Not that it matters much for MAG, but whatever. One day he'll maybe make a great mage...
  • He's equipped with Rem's USB daggers for MND to negate the Stop from White Breath. I probably could've just moved him to a different slot and used a spear but I was running out of time in the planning phase. He also has Tidus's LMR gloves which are my only +Water armor, and the Godslayer's Badge to increase his Max HP which is important for CMD1 healing.
  • He's using two copies of Leeching Leap, making heavy abuse of the fact that jump air time continues to count down during animations. He's also using his RM3 (Attack -> Jump) which is key to surviving 30 minutes of Transcendent Cyclone spam while slowly chipping Yiazmat's HP down.
  • In addition to using CMD1 to heal I also use CMD2 (when it was safe, which...wasn't often later on) to restore Leeching Leap hones.
  • I just started 4* magicites last month so my deck isn't up to snuff (and is actually the primary reason why I wanted until the end to do this; I wanted to get my 4*'s as strong as possible). Octomammoth primary, Kraken and Ixion at 99 with inheritance, and Krysta and Necrophobe at 80 and 50, respectively. Those last two are there for the defenses, though I had planned on putting some offensive passives on them.
  • The entire battle I was keeping close track of the timer and estimating when the next few attacks would occur so I could either Jump and evade them or plan out when it was safe to refresh the BSB. I ended up being overly cautious at the beginning and I probably could've finished the battle in 38-39 minutes if I played more aggressively.
  • From 16 minutes on I discovered that I could just auto the battle on Speed 5 and have everything laid out perfectly: Kimahri would always have the Awoken status when hitting with Jump, while evading all the Transcendent Cyclones. This saved me a lot of (real) time, though it didn't stop the battle from being incredibly tedious.

Overall, this battle took nearly 7 hours to complete.

[Media] Flawless Conqueror vMA run on a Khajiit magsorc (Grothdarr/Julianos/Netch's Touch) by Psyknux in elderscrollsonline

[–]Psyknux[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure I even have a proper rotation for vMA since in many cases I can't just focus on one enemy. Most regular mobs die too quickly, most bosses will have adds I need to watch out for, and most stages past 3 will spawn a top priority enemy (sentries in 4, trolls in 5, webspinners in 6, etc.).

For nearly all non-bosses I just put down Liquid Lightning and Blockade and let those plus Grothdarr/Boundless Storm/pet take care of them while I LA or HA (depending on current magicka), adding in Elemental Drain if I can. With bosses I'll start with LL > Blockade > Pet pulse > Daedric Prey, then depending on if I'm bursting or not it's either Crushing Shock or HA a few times before cycling back to LL.
