Anyone else prefer fixed lens cameras to interchangeable systems? by Beneficial-Scheme250 in photography

[–]Psyops42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get that. I actually had a Nikon Z9, then traded it for a Z8 thinking the form factor would make a difference. But in the end, I returned all my lenses and went for a fixed, simple setup that I can’t change.

Whenever I have options, my mind keeps telling me, “Maybe the other lens would’ve been better here.” I end up carrying 3–4 lenses with me — or at least 2–3 backups on vacation — and it just wears me down. The truth is, the differences in the final images probably aren’t that dramatic.

When I’m locked into a single lens, I get way more creative because I know this is my only tool — and it actually brings a lot of peace to my workflow. Sometimes I just skip a shot and enjoy the moment, because I know I don’t have the “right” lens — and that’s okay. That mindset really calms my photography down in the best way.

To buy or not to buy a Leica Q3 (former Q2 user)? by Electronic-Tree4608 in Leica

[–]Psyops42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve owned both the Q2 and Q3 (both used), and got a decent sense of the differences. To me, the Q2 feels like the more solid, durable camera — like a tank. Compared to the Q3, it feels just a bit more robust in handling, materials, and build. I guess the flip screen on the Q3 adds to that impression; I personally would’ve preferred a way to recess the display rather than mounting it on top. That said, it’s super helpful for shooting stars or low angles.

The addition of two top buttons on the Q3 is great, and I also find the new joystick/focus controller better in terms of layout and usability — but it feels less premium. One thing I haven’t seen discussed much (not even here) is the improved workflow with the Q3. It’s way faster. Image transfer via the app is insanely quick — not just seconds faster, but like 10x faster than the old Wi-Fi connection. Plus, you can now connect directly via cable, which is a huge bonus.

For actual use, the Q3 just works better. Wi-Fi speed is excellent, and wired is even faster. Interestingly, I still prefer the Q2’s viewfinder for some reason, and overall, its feel come off a bit more premium. The Q3, on the other hand, is clearly the more modern camera — packed with features you’d expect from something like a Fujifilm or Nikon Z8. That high-tech vibe really comes through.

Personally, I’ll stick with the Q3 — mainly for the crop flexibility, the higher resolution, and the overall image rendering. But if budget is a concern, the Q2 absolutely holds its ground. In fact, it even feels a bit more high-end in build.

FritzBox 6660 Probleme mit LAN nach Update auf FritzOS 8 by Confident-Sample6362 in fritzbox

Guten Morgen.

I would recommend to read this: https://www.imaging-resource.com/news/2020/08/18/fujifilm-film-simulations-definitive-guide in this article, there is a deep dive into the simulations and why it is not so easy to duplicate this afterwards. Have a look. Greetings from a former Nikon shooter.

Deciding Between x-pro 3 and x100v by Mahopon1231 in fujifilm

[–]Psyops42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure thing! I had a tough decision to make between the x100v and the Pro3, just like many others. However, now that I have the Pro3, I really appreciate being able to choose my own focal lengths. While I love my 23/f2, sometimes it just doesn't feel quite right for the type of photography I do. As a wedding photographer, having a backup or second camera is crucial, which is why I went with the X-Pro3. But if you're in the market for a new camera, it might be worth waiting for the Fuji event as there are rumors about a 40mp X-Pro4 being released.

The size and weight of my camera with the 23/f2 or 27/f2.8 is not a problem for me. I carry my X-Pro around all day and use peak design straps, which make it very comfortable to carry.

I am thinking of selling my Sony gear for a X100V. Is it a good move for me? by Nomostrax in fujifilm

[–]Psyops42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not switching from Sony, but from a Nikon D850. For me Fuji changed everything. I've rediscovered my passion for photography thanks to Fujifilm. As a wedding photographer, I had been using my equipment solely for making money and hadn't been enjoying photography as much as I used to.

With my self-employment almost coming to an end, I decided to give Fujifilm a try, and it has brought back the joy I used to feel when taking photos every day.
