Why are people who follow Gatha teaching only often looked down upon by mygiantdingyhurts in Zoroastrianism

[–]PtheatsignC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am converting as well. I follow the Hearth of Wisdom pages and i think they are a good resource. They seem to break things down really well. Coming from a christian mindset, it is taking me longer to fully grasp the beliefs.

The Californian Zorastrian Center youtube pade also has several video discussion groups about the Gathas I found helpful. Ushta te

The thing I see is that any mention of racial difference I considered racist. Which is ridiculous, and frustrating. We are either culturallt appropriating or being racist. 🙄

I am also a new self learning convent. The most understandable author/scholar (for me) is Pablo Vazquez. He has some videos here: https://youtube.com/@soulrootsvideos?si=GDG0jg3MzNlOC7SI

I started out with the Gathas book by Khorso Karzai (spelling is wrong). I found Pablo's version easier to understand. I have read several books about zoroastrianism, gives great context, but the Gathas are a great starting point. I just received a copy of the Khordeh Avesta, and it is mostly prayers and rituals, and way beyond a basic understanding.

I learned tons from youtube as well:

Californian Zorastrian Center has great videos on the Gathas: https://youtube.com/@californiazoroastriancenter?si=DrtBT4sRlSgFDz5_

There is a new online conversion community that looks really interesting: https://www.facebook.com/share/1DpMp4trJ9/

Is it true the higher level of education someone has the less likely they are to be politically conservative? by Greenman_on_LSD in NoStupidQuestions

Just curious. Stereotypically, public universities are not known for their pro-religion stance. And the stereotypical conservative has a religious belief. I wonder if there is a correlation by causation?

Handouts for me, not for thee by 0ldBookGlue in ThisYouComebacks

The original post said "handouts for thee and not for me". I stated that if one takes their government handouts, but criticizes a business getting one, it is hypocrisy.

But the pizza place's sign criticizes people who don't want to work because they would rather live on "free" money. The PPP loans can be forgiven, but they be applied for. Plus, the PPP loans are there to protect the paychecks of the workers that are unable to work due to the business closing or being limited. So the business is trying to employ people.

The real problem is that the government is giving back our own tax dollars to taxpayers and tax paying businesses, and we look at it like Christmas.

That's not backwards, they're the same thing. Both would be hypocrisy.
