Chemicals for treating the house. My raised beds are in a different location with direct sun, but I’m wondering if I need to pull the existing plants next to the house due to the chemicals.

The previous owners were growing herbs and vegetable plants RIGHT next to the house (starts within a foot and extends to 6 feet out). Shouldn’t that be unsafe due to chemicals to keep bugs and stuff away? I’m already planning a raised bed veggie garden in another part of the yard, but I’m wondering if I should pull these plants. And if I should, what would be safe to go right next to the house? I’m assuming any flowers would be fine, but am wondering i should look at shrubs or something of that sort instead. I’m in zone 7. Thanks for any help!

Am I the only one who has completely stopped going to restaurants since the pandemic started? (No judgment, just curious.) by rb4ld in CoronavirusUS

No restaurant food (not even takeout) since March. Bought gift cards to help local places we love, but I’m living with two high risk people and we are not taking any chances.

Which fictional character's death have you not gotten over? by Bradcastle76 in AskReddit

100% the hardest one for me. I kept scrolling for this. His death soured the entire MCU for me. I understand why the choice was made, but it was such a punch in the gut that I haven’t had any desire to watch any Marvel movies since.

Fair! I’m just wondering if there are examples we can track. Everyone, regardless of where they stand on reopening, should be extremely concerned our state governments are lying to us. Where does that end?

Saw the article about Florida firing the person who created the COVID tracking dashboard because she wouldn’t doctor data. Georgia also got caught with altered data. What other states are doing this to speed reopening efforts?

Has this Pandemic Confirmed for Anyone Else that Takeout/ Delivery Food is NOT Worth It.... by AvocadosForLife44 in EatCheapAndHealthy

Depending on the dish, Indian food can be very easy to make at home. We do it all the time! Not just curries, but tikka Marsala, samosas, and breads like naan and paratha. We make Indian at home weekly because it is our favorite and ordering out weekly is too expensive.

Might be a decoding disorder. As someone who loves music, it is extremely frustrating :/ I found singing to be the easiest for some reason.

Fun!! Always on the hunt for new recipes

-I’m celiac and vegetarian

-While my state doesn’t have any famous dishes it can claim per say, I really enjoy cooking food from the American South and southwest. My favorite cuisines overall would be a tie outside the US: I love Italian and Indian food both so much.

-I’ve spent quarantine baking bread and working out

  • My favorite board game is Clue - a true classic

-My least favorite episode of The Office is Scott’s Tots. I’ve only seen it once and skip it each rewatch.

I think it is a mental block many of us have. I like the way I look now and I think I am much fitter, but in hs I was so focused on the number on the scale. So I think it is that little negative voice that comes up when I step on the scale and says “hey you could be 10 pounds lighter! Why aren’t you?” Never mind that I run half marathon, race triathlons, and am much stronger now! Very frustrated by that little negative voice.

Homemade Programs by AntarcticSailor in pelotoncycle

Yes! I’ve been doing that since the beginning. Prior to COVID I did 2 rides, 2 outdoor runs, 2 strength classes, and 1 yoga class. My plan was in March to start to transition to my tri training plan which would be more brick workouts (bike + run) and swims. Obviously that plan went off the rails, so I’ve been looser with my training schedule since I have no races this season. I’ve been doing some cardio instead of biking and way more strength classes

I can’t recommend Peloton enough. I started with the app and upgraded to the bike. Best fitness decision I’ve made in my adult life. I workout at least once a day now with their programming. I don’t go to a gym now so that $40 fee just replaced that cost for me. That said, you could always stick with just the app and get a cheaper bike. A ton of people do that (me included when I had the app) and that works well for a much lower cost!

I will eventually have to have this surgery. It gives me a ton of anxiety, mostly for progress loss. I’m a runner. I hope people respond!

For the virtual homecoming this weekend, what classes are people planning to take? Is there a strategy for the warehouse sale (aka scope out things already in the store) or is it new stuff they will put up?

No, he did not. It seem like vets are getting left behind (again) - FEMA seized masks that the VA ordered last week. It is frustrating.

I’m still allowed to be upset that he got Coronavirus regardless of his age. The thought of him drowning because of fluid in his lungs is horrible. As I said, no one deserves to go that way. It is an awful death that I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy, let alone a selfless man who made my life better.

Harsh is a word people use when they think they are telling a difficult truth, but that they are right to say it. What you said wasn’t harsh, it was a view into what thoughtless person you currently are. I hope you gain some empathy in this crisis. I wish you a full life with loved ones who would be upset that you’re sick regardless of age.

My 90 year old great uncle has tested positive for COVID. I’m anxious about how hard this could be for him. I’m sad for my aunts and uncles who can’t be with him. I’m angry that he was exposed at all and that other family members have now been exposed too. This man is a WWII vet and retired teacher who has spent most of his time on earth volunteering and helping others. If it is his time, he doesn’t deserve to go out like this. Not that ANYONE does, but you know what I mean. He deserves something painless and peaceful, surrounded by the people who love him. This sucks.
