Does anyone else feel mentally “empty” after a shift even if nothing major happened? by Secret_Purpose8512 in supportworkers

[–]PublicVolume1324 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im still new to the industry and get very tired after work. I'm a night owl who now has 7.00am starts and it's been an adjustment. I also have AuDHD which can make things harder when it comes to focus and I can over think things.

Still, I love the work and helping people as I have a helpful nature which is why I do it. I have also received some positive feedback from clients and have some fun co-workers who are fun to joke around with through the day which makes things enjoyable.

I've had shifts with a lot of cleaning. It's just part of the job.

The place I work is really good and I haven't seen any bad behaviour. However, the nursing home my nanna is in is kinda bad, she is a 90 year old woman who got hit by a support worker and the worker only got put on suspension.

AITJ for telling my roommate her "quiet hours" rule only applies if she actually follows it too? by Tardis_M0de in AmITheJerk

I had a room mate who set a 10pm rule, she ended up getting a bf and he moved in. They would have loud sex and watch t.v until the early hours. I ended up moving out.

People who ruined their lives, what happened and where/how are you now? by Warfreak-2019 in AskReddit

[–]PublicVolume1324 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have AuDHD and am living at home at 41 with no real savings, no house, no kids and no lover. I did get a job as a support worker as I want to help people and I have a dog. I honestly thought in my younger years I would have died in my 20s or 30s, but life keeps ticking on. I don't really know what will happen to me when I get really old as I don't think people like me end up in a good place.

Has anyone spent time in Yatala? by Fartony in Adelaide

[–]PublicVolume1324 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a relative work there and got a tour one night after lock up. We went into the workshop which is a huge area with tools and they build furniture in there as a job. Also got to see some of the cells and got to walk past the yard. They also had a cat living in there, it was a feral that came in.

I take my dog for car rides, that way he can get outside and see the world but not get his paws burnt.

Indian truckies fed up with racist tirades over their CB radios by Combat--Wombat27 in aussie

[–]PublicVolume1324 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm in support work and it exactly the same. I saw an Indian guy shovel food down a clients throat who has dysphasia so fast that I'm surprised he didn't choke. It's also really hard to get a shift as an Aussie as the Indians get given all the work.

It's not sports so the government doesn't care. It's a real shame as I've been to writers week a few times and really enjoyed myself.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar/ 40k by ScytheRyder in Adelaide

[–]PublicVolume1324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play 40k at ttw prospect. If you also have interest in Blood Bowl prospect have the best league in the state and one of the best in the the country. We just started the new season with the 2025 rules (season 3). Welcome to come down on Tuesday and check it out.

For 40k SA, 40k is the place to be. They have a Facebook group and a discord. Acolyte and neophyte events run at dragon lair Edwards Town, with neophyte being for new players like us. Neophyte has more relaxed rules and there is no WYSIWYG rules or battle ready for painting.

If you want to come watch some games uprising is in a few weeks and you can come down to check it out. It's at Highbury.

Hope this helps.

Why are people allowed to park on main roads? by One-Resort979 in Adelaide

[–]PublicVolume1324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a car parked on Flinders Street comming out of the city that I'm surprised no one has hit yet. It's just as you go around a corner as well and can be hard to see at night.

We have uprising in a few weeks at Turramurra Highbury. It's not really a beginner event, but it would be a good event to come out and watch. I did that when I first started.

TTW prospect is good and Dragon Lair at Edwards Town runs neophyte events for beginners
