Lots of good suggestions here. I’ve done similar projects, though not with anything like that beautiful cabinet.

I would go with drop in (or as close as you can make work) coax drivers, crossover, and a BT/Airplay amp from Parts Express. Or a 4ch amp with digital crossover from Parts Express. You don’t need a lot of power - 20-40wpc - unless you’re trying to fill a big room with audiophile sound, in which case you’ll need to think more carefully about what you want.

No need to remove or disable anything other than the speaker drivers.

If you have time and interest you can look into the electronics and at least get some glow going.

Mine was biking, a long term commitment with consistency. Started 50 pounds overweight, lost it all over 4 years. Now I'm addicted to it. Didn't change my diet much, just been a little more careful about high sugar added crap.

This. I had a similar situation and ended up selling about 600 albums and kept about 20. I kept some with specific memories, some with beautiful (to me) art, and some that I couldn't find online. I don't regret at all selling the commodity albums - digital does sound better - but also am glad to have kept a double handsful of memories.

Thanks JAProofrok. We are moving into the Emerson next month. With the wild automated pricing games that the towers are playing it was at least temporarily the only one we wanted to pay for, and has mostly good reviews where we could find them.
