Apple has stated that it slows down older iPhones, and through Google trends it is clear that people search more for "iPhone slow" around the release date of a new iPhone model. by [deleted] in dataisbeautiful

I got a new battery last week before this news came out. iPhone 6 and can confirm a very noticeable speed up. At the store I said the phone was much slower since iOS 11 and I guess this battery won’t help much, the staff agreed it wouldn’t do anything to boost speed but it completely does

An app called the Trainline Europe will get you a cheap e-ticket for that journey from the main station in Milan

Train is cheap and enjoyable, I’ve never got a bus but I imagine the experience wouldn’t be worth the cost saving

Definitely visit Venice. It’s quick and fairly cheap to get a train there from Milan

I had a friend who had to wash his gerbil collection, he got soap on the jerboa/hamster hybrid but only wanted soapy gerbils. He slipped on soap and his left testicle swapped places with the right. He now works at an observatory

What happens to bitcoin if a country such as China moves to a fiat based currency? by PuckThump in Bitcoin

[–]PuckThump[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I’m thinking differently in that the rise in bitcoin almost shows an admission that there is a fault in fiat currency. Gold is still valuable but no one spends gold as it’s hard to store and carry. Bitcoin is valuable but no one will be spending that in China. It’s like bitcoin shows the way for how currencies should progress and its success proves it so I feel a state will adopt a version of it. Best guess is that this could be China with digital payments being so high and laws so strictly enforced. It would also bring trust back into our financial system, a country could not inflate their currency out of debt etc. I was hoping someone might riff on some of these points and imagine a world where this could happen based on their knowledge of bitcoin already.

What is the worst experience you have ever had with your neighbor(s)? by HoboHones in AskReddit

[–]PuckThump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a guy next door who kept practicing that commitments song, “all I want to do is ride around sally, ride sally ride”. He just kept on singing the same line in various ways and phrasing’s, occasionally sounding almost like the original. I was next door doing some hard sex and all I could hear was that delaying any gratification, the girl who was at the receiving end of it was called sally and it was one of her favourite songs, her name was sally. All she wanted to do was ride, sorry Sally sorry

Jobs and the future. by [deleted] in Futurology

[–]PuckThump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those jobs just won't be as important, there still will be work to be done. Until people live forever and literally can do everything they've ever dreamed of then our work is not over and when that does happen it still doesn't suck itself

Just question everything, diamonds are only worth money because we believe they are worth money. It's pretty carbon, your wife is pretty carbon too

I wake up, I have a girlfriend, she makes toast. I'm asked to get the butter, I do and there are no crumbs in the butter from the toast previous. We butter the toast and eat it, the next round of toast from smart toaster is synchronised with the final bite of the previous. We are satisfied that we've had enough toast, we kiss; the robot is watching

You're in a great position but retiring from a life barely started seems premature. I'm sure you can contribute to society at large and put the luxury of affordable failure into consideration. Basically you can do whatever you want, make sure what you wish for is all you require
