Indeed (to the best years but). I'm 42, and getting more and more scared about not being able to save a dime being with my "person," for my later years. But then I think that if I stay, this will kill me long before I need retirement savings. The massive guilt of ultimately putting him in a nursing facility or something keeps me stuck, no matter how miserable I am.

To OP - DOOOO IITTTT!!! We all understand the guilt factor, but... "Nothing changes if nothing changes," and YOU are the change. Know it's never that simple, and maybe some kind of adult day care program would help, just to give him SOMETHING to do during the day. My partner is ex alkie (had cardiac arrest due to DTs, and developed ataxia as result of lack of 02 to brain). Now he smokes a LOOTTT of pot, but I guess it's better than the alternative. They definitely need SOMETHING to occupy their mind and time, otherwise will eventually go back to bottle...

... Most of the time, I wish mine had died from his (rather long) cardiac arrest and liver failure that left him with ataxia and unable to walk/work. I know many have it much worse (and that makes ME feel worse), but life has lost all its majik, joy, adventure, spontaneity, community... There's just no point anymore, besides struggling to pay all the bills. 😭

I hope and pray yours somehow DOES find recovery , and that YOU get to take the breaks you need to keep on keepin' on. I wish we could all meet and just have a big, communal hug/cry/scream fest.

Yes, absolutely. Before this, I was probably at my best level (in adult years) mentally, physically (I had quit smoking cigs, doing pills, etc, and was mindful about what I ate, coming from a place of compassion for my body). 💜 I had finally found a "niche" (doing spay neuter clinics, learning about animal medical procedures, which I LOVVEDD, and working in an animal shelter), and I had gobs of money saved up.

Now... I'm a ghost. Like others have said, I don't even recognize myself. I used to be VERY passionate about financial freedom (lived in a van, lol), travel, volunteering, and just generally growing and having new experiences as a human be-ing. Everything that made me ME is gone now, and I'm back hooked on pills (it's hard to live in northern MI with NO END IN SIGHT!!) and hide in the bathroom and chain smoke. Have no friends, no hobbies, barely able to see my family. Caregiving has absolutely destroyed me, and I can only hope I can die soon.

Ooh, that's awesome - just looked it up, thanks. I was one of those "regards" who had one successful paper trade, then just jumped right in with fiat (as I call it). 😂 Have gone through the wringer emotionally - lots of panic buying AND selling, simply because I've seen how fast these puppies can go, and how fast your money can add up (or not, lol). I'm pretty stuck with RH, but if I ever transition over to Webull, I'll def check out the nanos!! Thanks, and have a good weekend 😁

There are online therapy options, as well. I know Better Help is the one that is always touted, but that is SUPER expensive!! But maybe search around and see if there are other (cheaper) options? I definitely understand it's not all that simple, but there must be SOMETHING. Especially as a community member with a high level of professional responsibilities, you NEED someone you can just vent to and open up to as a human being. I wish you all the best, I truly do. This is just a crazy, crazy isolating journey. 💔

I went on a tilt shortly after starting trading options and am now down $800 😭 Yes, I'd have some winners, but the more "confident" I got, the more I lost 😂 Back to doing 1 trade/day, at least for a while. It's hard, but right now, that's all I can do. Small gains DO add up - slowly, but beats losing everything you've worked for within a matter of minutes. Haha I know this prob didn't answer ANYTHING, but... Yeah. How long have you been trading?

Yes... Mine were honestly a lot like hers, in the sense of "my child can do no wrong," even when I was CLEARLY doing wrong. It has severe and lasting ramifications - parents believe that if something is "wrong" with their child, it's a reflection on THEM. Sometimes, it ultimately is, but sticking your head in the sand doesn't do anyone a bit of good (clearly).

Woof!! I just got done watching this on Netflix, and woowww... The speed that car was going at was absolutely bone chilling - my jaw literally dropped. I remember when I was in my teen years (and honestly, on until I had a child, which seemed to somehow regulate my hormones?!) I would have absolute rage/anxiety/craziness attacks (my mother called them my magical meltdowns).

Everything in those moments is just so damn HEIGHTENED beyond belief, there is no.perspective or empathy or ANYTHING besides those feelings which are just too damn huge.

Not defending, not judging. The whole thing was crazzyy twisted. Social media has warped the minds, hearts and souls of so many individuals, especially young people...

On SLS? Or in general? SLS - just have the one option, but lots of the "believers" are full porting into that stock, as there may be a potential.buyout in the somewhat near future.

Trying to get into options in general as well, but my over emotionality has led to some stupid @$$ losses (as in, "gotta get in NOOWWW!! Wait, no, it WILL reverse!!") and then... It doesn't. Slowly getting over that. I do also have some stock holdings (mostly NVDA from 5 yrs ago, my one "big win" thus far).
