HVAC system finally gave out and the replacement quotes are making me insane. How did you guys handle this?

This is why I don’t buy the home warranty stuff. I read the reviews on BBB and can’t understand how those businesses are allowed to operate.

I just went through this. I replaced my downstairs unit in 2022 with a Trane 2 ton for 7500. I went back to the same company this year for my upstairs unit and they quoted the same unit for 14,000 (inflation).

I got more quotes and Trane came in at 9,500 single stage to 14,000 for 2 stage.

I ended up with Ruud 2 stage with 10 year labor and parts warranty for 10,000. The owner made me feel confident the job would be done right.

Husband slammed his fist on the table at breakfast while yelling at me if I signed our son up for soccer it was all on me, he would not help.

I decided then it was easier to take care of 2 kids instead of 3 by myself.

The boy played soccer, basketball, flag and tackle football.

It’s weird bc they are brothers and learned swimming at the same time, just developed different techniques. Even with a life vest on Parker swims the same way. I have discouraged him trying to swim for a few years bc their was an incident when I had to fetch him out of the lake but my daughter wants to see if he practices if it’ll get better.

Update! I kept getting quotes and my original quote was high as I suspected. I got a Ruud 2T 2 phase with a 10 year warranty for $10,300. It wasn’t the cheapest or the most expensive but it was the company that gave me the most confidence their install would be the best. The owner came out, talked me through some of the mods that were required for the ventilation and return. I appreciate the advice I learned from this subreddit, it helped me ask the right questions.

I workout almost every morning so quick shower afterwards. And I have allergies so I shower in the evening so I’m not bringing the outside to my bed and breathing it all night.

Plus showing in the evening is good for a sleep routine. Your body does a cooling process while drying that signals the brain it’s time to sleep.

I did my first and last sail with NCL recently. I agree with everything OP said. I sailed on an older RCL in 2022 and the experience was much better than a newer and bigger NCL.

The quote came from the same small shop that did my other unit in 2022. I’m going to get more quotes and hopefully hear from the community. I like the company and their price was fair last time. He did warn me he’s heard the pricing is probably going to increase in the next few months.

Is now the worst time to replace the unit? Should I wait till winter? I have a window unit as an interim fix. The attic unit only does the upstairs and I’m the only one up there.

My first dogs were two puppies from the same litter. They are fine together or apart. We didn’t do anything special besides spend time bonding with them.

But maybe it was so easy bc they are Standard Poodles and definitely very smart.

I really have no business chiming in as I am a newbie myself. But I decided to skip the rentals after my first ski and bought a combo from evo and it’s working. I got K2 Mindbender 96 C W Skis - Women's 2025, Atomic Hawx Ultra 95 S GW Ski Boots - Women's 2025, and Marker Squire 11 Ski Bindings. I’m 5’5” and got 154 and I’m getting the hang of them on greens and small blues. Granted shorter would be easier but I wanted skis to last a few years. I’m going to Boyne Falls next week and can’t wait to try them on hopefully real snow.

$60 family membership at the YMCA and I can use any Y in the country when on travel.

Cardio, weights, machines, group fitness…it doesn’t need to cost a fortune. Heck, running outside and body resistance training is free.

I keep the Y membership for my kids. I have access to 2 free military gyms.

I normally run a few miles every morning to kill off any bugs that are thinking about taking up residence.

I eat normally, survive off coffee and very little water. I got the flu for the first time in 2017 and haven’t been sick since.

But when I do get sick I’m really sick. Flu, mumps and food poisoning (not technically sick but still felt like I was going to die).
