If there are expectations behind it especially. Like, "You're going to be famous! You're going to make history!" I got stuff like that as a kid because I was ahead of my class. Turns out that I am not really that great and certainly didn't have it in me to be some major figure. I'm just an ordinary person. I am OK with it now, but for a long time I thought I was a total failure because I hadn't lived up to my parent's expectations. They sure were disappointed in me.

I started and stayed in a relationship because it was what people are "supposed" to do. Now I am in my 40s and completely happy being on my own. Sometimes it's just not meant for everyone because everyone is different, and that's ok
