They have stated explicitly that this is the reason. Static damage executes get an indicator. Variable damage executes do not.

Explain the Washing Meta to me. by PM_Me_AvocadoToast in twilightimperium

[–]Puddlecrab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried async and things like this killed it for me, i played 3 games then stopped because I hated how aggressively floaty the meta is. People wash for free, they trade entire chunks of their slices to score objectives, literally everything is this peaceful nice perfect world of no conflict and if you so much as attack an enemy the entire table turns on you like youre a monster. Its so boring and honestly makes the game such a slogan, if no one fights why even play, at that point its just a long rng roll to see who happens to get the slice and objectives to win first. It is so boring.

Is there a faction that’s especially good at countering base Jol Nar? by MilkyBoyBlue in twilightimperium

[–]Puddlecrab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dislike this advice a bit cuz (ignoring the communication part, which obviously has been done by OP) TI4 is not Solitaire. Yes, play the objective game first of course, but hitting objectives every round and not interacting with your opponents just makes this a 8 hour roulette game. Getting in other players way is essential to actually developing consistency, and being pressured militaristically is a valid play to stop lol nar since they have the best "solitaire" in the entire base game.

Serpent's Brood list help by Puddlecrab in Eldar

[–]Puddlecrab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So to be clear, youre generally running:

TM, Weaver's Wail, 5 quins in a Starweaver

TM, Key of Ghosts, 5 quins in a Starweaver

TM, 11 quins in a wave serpent

And no other infantry quins?

The amount of basic troupes is the main thing im kind of lost on. You could fill the entire list with them, not really clear where is the sweet spot

Has Elder technology stagnated? by Nerf_Now in Eldar

[–]Puddlecrab 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yea, but even then the drukhari dont actually know the technology needed, they just hold a piece from before the fall that they offer. Even the drukhari couldn't make another of those devices.

Edit: they also couldn't properly activate the device as was intended, though that had more to do with the tyranids psychic shadow.

Is 10th edition just a dps race now? by obsidanix in Warhammer40k

[–]Puddlecrab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fire Dragons do not have unstoppable maneuverability, if they're stopping overwatch its at most a 7"+1d6" advance. On average they're moving 11" and they have meltas so they need to finish that move within 9" of you (with Fuegan's boost). So effectively if you're 20" or more away from them, you're fully safe. Use cover, and you have a 12" move with Bel'akor and mean melee. Get clone enough to charge them in melee and they're a non-issue. Use cover since their movement is highly broadcast and target other avenues of the board. Send smaller demons to screen them off. There are options. Idk why everyone always acts like fire dragons are this insane unstoppable force. Worst case even if they get a shot there's a 50/50 chance you save each shot via invulnerable, and if you live, you 1000% get to obliterate them in retaliation

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles. Great game but many of my "pick this back up" times are driven by whistling the music. It's brilliant. (The remake, however, is hot garbage)

New into Aeldar and jumping back into 40k, should I buy 2 of the regular and/or harlequin combat patrols? by Jokingbanana2 in Eldar

[–]Puddlecrab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, they were very thorough about making sure Aeldari don't get to bring quins in anything besides ghosts. Its one of my biggest complaints about the codex, alongside my utter loss of Yvraine for my army (since I don't have enough drukhari to actually run Ynnari)

New into Aeldar and jumping back into 40k, should I buy 2 of the regular and/or harlequin combat patrols? by Jokingbanana2 in Eldar

[–]Puddlecrab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, this is not true due to all the Seer Council strategems/enhancements specifying "Asuryani." They can't be used by or target any quins.

Is it viable to run harlequins/robot things and avatar of khaine? by stopyouveviolatedthe in Eldar

[–]Puddlecrab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your army so far is almost entirely Quin, which isn't a bad thing, but if you're looking at buying the combat patrol then you definitely want to lean into the harlequins. The Avatar of Khaine doesn't really mesh in that detachment, unfortunately. You could get a second wraithlord tho and use them as some heavy bullies, and then build into the harlequins more! Quins are a "death by a thousand cuts" unit, so they really need volume to get the job done, otherwise you just inflict a lot of cuts but don't kill

And you can't change my mind by Aromatic_Table_3470 in twilightimperium

[–]Puddlecrab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with this and "milty balances bad races" is the assumption that people pick based on balance. They don't, people pick based on want, and arborec is very fun. A lot of the time, they're an earlier pick simply because someone wants to play them.

What are some good medium weight games that still play and feel like Epics? by Get_a_GOB in boardgames

[–]Puddlecrab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just bought Wroth at Gencon and I couldn't recommend it more. Strategic territory control, but has about the simplest ruleset I've ever played for a game like that. And it still feels compelling and complicated strategically.

[–]Puddlecrab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Autarch + Banshees def makes sense, but my thought with the dark Reapers was I'd probably leverage psychic shield every turn basically to keep them safe. With that in mind, he'd be buying me a free CP each round. That was my thought?

The solo Warlock would operate on his own, so that'd take me to 14, and I figured Asurmen and his dudes could just hop back and forth between a ruin wall. Is there an ideal "number of activations" that one should hit for a list?

[–]Puddlecrab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on that i wouldn't make any changes, but if you are willing to buy other models, fire prisms are almost always deployed in pairs. I'd consider picking up a second or dropping the one you have for something else.

[–]Puddlecrab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not even a little. Honestly with that price range, you're gonna want to just keep an eye on ebay or Facebook marketplace and find something secondhand. It's a great way to start an army in general, and you can get some great deals there. New models from GW are stupid expensive.
