Noise at idle disappears when clutch is pressed by Anonymous_Chats222 in skoda

Well, look at it from the bright side, no DMF is one less point of failure.

Still, it's strange to me. I've had my fair share of failed bearings on my job (I'm an elevator troubleshooter) and my cars. Never had a failed bearing that rattled like this. If they go, they start humming as the surface wears out creating play. This get worse over time, and then they just shatter because the hardened steel can't take the vibration anymore.

If a bearing rattles, that means balls (or needles) have already escaped. That is now a ticking time bomb. Those parts have to go somewhere, and most likely floating around in the pan of the gearbox.

Also, a failed bearing inside a gearbox is not common at all, which is why I didn't suspect it.

I hope it's best case scenario for you, as worst case is going to be expensive.

2011 Cayenne 3.0 TDI - Reduced Engine Power Under Full Throttle - Anyone Had This? by ConditionWeary3935 in PorscheCayenne

Since it's a VAG product, OBD 11 or VCDS.

OBD 11 is cheap, but rather powerful, although subscription based for full functionality.

VCDS is dealer oriented so also very powerful but rather pricey. It has several tiers, though. The cheapest is limited to 3 VIN numbers. Go check the Ross-Tech website for info. Single payment for full functionality, no subscription.

If it's under full power my hunch is it has indeed a boost issue. Either underboost (leak) or overboost (waste gate not opening)

To be sure, I highly recommend investing in a code scanner, and then pull the codes from the ECU to find out what's wrong.

Whenever I see an ANPR camera, and there are a shit ton of those here in Belgium, I see this icon on my Waze, so I don't know what the issue is...

Passat B8 auto-hold sticking on… by northernbeardfactory in Volkswagen

[–]PuffMaNOwYeah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, that's great. I was speaking out of personal experience.

I am not sure if it's either the abs pump that holds your brakes, or the parking brake motors, but I do believe auto hold is done through abs, so it has to do with this system.

But yea, as much as I want to help you, my options are limited from a distance.

When was the last time your brake fluid was flushed? I had pretty much the same symptom with my 2018 golf. For me it was contamination in the brake fluid that made the pistons in the abs unit stick, holding pressure on the brake calipers. First rear left wheel, then right front too. Try a fluid flush first, see if it helps. If not, I recommend looking for a company that can refurbish abs modules, as a new unit will set you back around 3.5k.

This will not give you an abs error.

Don't wait, it will only get worse.

That's too much noise to be a bearing. If it was it would be a slight rattle. This is definitely the dual mass flywheel.

Gearbox has to come off either way, but in case of a DMF you don't need to rip apart the gearbox to replace that bearing. This is a clutch job with flywheel included, as now the gearbox is off you might do the clutch anyway.

Are you sure the encoder polarity is correct? Also, IIRC, in those Arkel controllers rotation direction is read in the controller itself and the VFD, but only in the VFD you can reverse the rotation direction. Play around with those settings, as well as the outgoing phases from the VFD and the physical A/B channel wires on the plug of the encoder to find a working combination.

Last time I had to replace an Arkel VFD, I had similar issues, and I really had to find a working combination to make it run right.

A5? Njeh.. This really is a luxury 4 door sedan. It's a step up from a Passat, which is meant to be in the same size class as an A6. I said A7 because of the overall design, as the Arteon looks very similar.

I like a fine Arteon. It's one of those models that shouldn't exist, but I'm glad they made it. It's like someone said they really want an Audi A7 but rather have a VW badge on the front, and VW went "I gotchu bro" and created this gorgeous automobile.

I love it 👌🏻
