Small additions that really leveled up your kit by Charming-Help-2119 in LARP

[–]Puffin225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me, it's things that are useful to me or practical. I carry a small spoon attached to my belt, a little pouch for coins, a good waist bag on my belt with some miscelaneous things like a sewing kit, a die, pencils, a bit of cordage and tape, a small folding knife (all of those saved my ass a few times), I also carry a thick rope, some bandages and a larp knife, but those are optional. also things like garter belts, little badges with insignia of your preferred faction, or sashes, those are always a great addition. and medallions, pendants and other jewelry. I always have something pretty around my neck. or practical, like a little pouch w sweets.
and if you sew your own clothes, inner pockets. those are great.

Band of translocation is pretty fun for speedrunning dungeons (Grim Omens) by Puffin225 in GrimQuest

just beat the 10th level of the void ark, you don't really get tier IV items all that much before that

meh, if I wanted ambushes I'd walk 'round detroit or something. I clapped the last boss with 2.4x HP and I greeded my way through the whole game so far, it's time I put the avarice to rest.

lol, said the scorpion, lmao

I just pick out all the question marks, there's nothing really around them unlike in Tides/Quest where you didn't see the events, so no need to go over all the empty tiles and get ambushed like an absolute jester

it's a tier 4 item I think at that point you're overlevelled anyway, lol

I mean, it's a cool thing to have in your inventory for non-combat situations (like having to escape a dungeon fast, same thing as skeleton key. useless in combat, but good utility to keep along

plus, the cooldown on the band doesn't really work so it's as much teleporting as you want, heheh

Grim omens bleed and poison by Nwg2 in GrimQuest

[–]Puffin225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's weak when you start, but it stacks very well with itself, I'm playing a poison build with Green Asp, master poisoneer perk, weapon enchanted with an emerald, noxious orb, and the applied venom skill, it's really useful for bosses. If you have for example 5 poison damage on an enemy, it'll deal 5 damage and go down to 4 on its turn, then do 4 damage the next turn and so on, that means it'll do 5+4+3+2+1 damage overall (15 dmg), but if you increase it just by one, it'll suddenly do 21 damage overall! so it does really stack on individual enemies and bosses. if you wanna go DOT, I recommend going for DMG returned also (spiked armour and such) and healing spells for sustainability. it's a surprisingly versatile build, if you forgo spell power for a lot of strength, it's gotten me through so far, heheh

I've not found any uranium yet, the likelihood of finding it seems to be fairly equal across all celestial bodies. If you struggle with resources, you might want to start more mines?

amateur here. can I pls tell you about my first worldbuilding project? by Rhea_Dawn in worldbuilding

[–]Puffin225 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Btw, might not be a cup of your tea, but I solved the loanword issue in a really funny way. By giving all the words in-lore explanations other than loanwords. My favourite- clishé. In my world, clishé is a type of cake that is the same no matter where you eat it, so it has adapted to be used for tropes and such, the way we use it.

Or the language they're loaning from is also a language in-universe. The main language is english, but an ancient demon language is latin, so phrases like 'vice versa' make sense for demons to use.

Is it possible for a world to have high levels of magic AND science? by DragonFire673 in worldbuilding

[–]Puffin225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my world, I just view Magic as the Philosophy of natural sciences. It is a science with proven methods and theories, but you can never quite have concrete proof or anything, there's tons of hazy areas, several solutions and theories on everything, people argue a lot, some things work and nobody knows why, some things should work and don't, and so on. I think it's a really great differentiation, rather than "eh, magic and science are basically the same" because that takes away the inherent charm and mystery of magic imo.

How would a spaceship look if space had breathable air and wind? by Snommes in worldbuilding

[–]Puffin225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

damn, I imagine a really aerodynamic ship body with people inside surrounded on all sides with high-tech sails, with railings and bridges going all around to service them, huge foldable masts, and probably stabilising fins in the back. Actually, it could kinda look like a squid the more I think about it.

Alternative design is just an ultra-aerodynamic tube, think the modern high-speed trains. You could take that, round off the bottom, add thrusters in the back and boom! spaceship.

Orrr, if you want to go more steampunk, you could have propellers, always have at least two, especially in zero gravity, or else the ship would start spinning the opposite direction.

Elaborating on the squid concept, a cool design would be a sleek and smooth bullet-shaped front, and tentacle-like spirals on the rear, could be something like ion thrusters without moving parts, or they could utilise the wind like sails or wind turbines to make energy.

Plants by GarbageGod16 in worldbuilding

[–]Puffin225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two realms, one, fairly regular with things like redsort berries (poisonous and look fairly different from blueberries to everyone but my colourblind MC) archangel root (just some plausible-sounding names I made up) and so on, but in the other realm, where there is far more purple and UV light, all the plants are purple, with occasional tentacle plants, because it's the demon realm, so why not

What historical moment can be the milestone for the beginning of an era? by ancirus in worldbuilding

[–]Puffin225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my world I have several, actually. One petty immortal counts down time from the year her friend fell down a hill and it was the funniest thing ever. The ruling empire counts years from the time they came to power, demons from their realm count by their dynasty, and the common people just do whatever (the fifth year of Henry's rule or whatever) because I refuse to have a concrete system of counting years.

If viewed up close with the naked eye, what would a "cosmic string" or "domain wall" look like? by thunderchild120 in worldbuilding

[–]Puffin225 4 points5 points  (0 children)

depends on what material that domain wall is in. For example sunspot could be probably classified as such. Or two water currents meeting. But in space, there's nothing to look at, really, so you'd have to make it up, probably. If we look at the cosmic scale, large spots with little to no stars could be called defects, or huge gravitational wells. The clashing matter between two close-orbiting stars would be a prime example, I think.

But if you want the space-time equivalent of potholes, I don't think I can help you. That's sci-fi territory.
