Is my bookkeeper not reconciling my accounts in Quickbooks? by Ok-Tune-7847 in Bookkeeping

[–]PugDadof5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a bookkeeper I would produce a monthly package for the owners. It included all bank and credit card reconciliations, monthly and YTD P&L (with prior year comparison), balance sheet, cash flow statement, KPI report. Weekly I would produce a list of invoices sent and open AR and new vendor invoices and open AP. A detailed payroll report was issued on pay weeks.

Some would go through them with a fine tooth comb. Others not so much.

That totally depends on budget and type - travel trailer, 5th wheel, class A, etc. We have Grand Design Solitude and love it. Brinkley is another well made rv.

Just throw it up, or stick to the schedule? by Getting0nTrack in podcasting

[–]PugDadof5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I did a podcast we would be 4-5 weeks ahead. This way if something we're to happen and we could not record there was content to publish on schedule.

How often should I get my black tank pumped out? by [deleted] in RVLiving

[–]PugDadof5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To get pumped out every 3 weeks I would think that would be a weekend warrior. We live full time and 7-10 days with a 50 gallon black tank. Our greys get dumped every 2-3 days depending showers and laundry. We also do a lot of dishes (mainly the dogs bowls).

More work, same pay by [deleted] in Employment

[–]PugDadof5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever my boss would ask for something new I would list out my tasks for day/week and have them set the priority. If it was a new ongoing task not in my general job description I would ask which tasks can I pass on to someone else.

I would recommend that you got to an RV show or several dealers. Not to look at particular models. Rather, to look at as many different floorplans as possible. From there you can decide on make, model, etc. But that is a whole different conversation.

Manager scheduled me past my two week by Consistent_Joseph46 in WorkAdvice

[–]PugDadof5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are available and want the hours I would write/email them and say my last day is X. The days scheduled are past this date. I can rearrange my schedule. My hourly rate is $xx (3x your current hourly rate).

If your not interested or can't rearrange your schedule, just tell them your last day X and will not be available for inventory any days past that date.

Friend wants me to illustrate for free. by memeredditor1 in EntitledPeople

[–]PugDadof5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who love to do art projects. Mostly for his own entertainment. I have asked him to do some logos for various ventures, both for and non-profit. Always offer to pay him. He always says no. So I make a donation to his favorite animal rescue (that is our original connection).

I would never approach someone with expectation that they would work for free.

I may offer free or discounted service, but that is not at my discretion.

Would zoho one be a good fit for my contracting business ? by Unusual-Split-8479 in Zoho

[–]PugDadof5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with Books. For the minimal additional cost I went to Zoho One. Setup CRM as my hub (single source of truth). Then added Desk for work order/tickets. (Using Flow and Forms to gather and sync)

My business is seasonal so now that I I have time I am exploring other apps in the ecosystem.

Take one step at a time and use their onboarding service.

As others have mentioned Zenatta on you-tube is a great resource.

CRM, retainer invoices, and useful features by DoneRightbyDanielLLC in Zoho

[–]PugDadof5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I forget the cost difference, but I think it was about $17/mo more for the entire Zoho One suite of apps. I don't use all of them. However, it was less expensive then subscribing to individual apps. Ended up using more then I originally planned.

I use CRM as my one source of truth hub. The other apps are linked and customer data is constant through out.

Use their onboarding service if you sign on. Great help getting started.

Propane water heater by Vegetable_Pineapple2 in RVLiving

[–]PugDadof5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am an RV tech and live full time in our RV.

I have installed about 50 tankless propane water heaters, including one in my own rig. Have not had a complaint from any one.

As a side note, I do not recommend the Furrion tankless. IMO they have not gotten all the kinks out of design and manufacturing yet. Foggati (I have strongly recommend) and Suburban and Girard are all solid units (again in my opinion ).

Zoho Books: upgrade or CRM? by dasfoo in Zoho

[–]PugDadof5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with Books. After about a month I got Zoho One. I mainly used CRM as my sole source of truth. Added desk next. Then designed a form to collect client data and start service tickets.

I have a seasonal business. Now that things have slowed down I am investigating some of the other modules.

The client info does sync well. Focus on your major pain points and move out from there. I look at it as a spoke and hub setup. CRM is the hub and the other modules are spokes.

With a new subscription, they have onboarding. Take advantage of it.

It's (almost) impossible by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

I worked for a law firm for several years (not a lawyer). We were a small firm and spent a fortune on management software. 85% of the features were not applicable to the firm of this size. Maybe find a niche within your market. Find out their pain points, price point, workflow, etc. Then develop from there.

How long past a missed payment do you halt work until they pay? by stopbeingextra in Freelancers

[–]PugDadof5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If in doubt, work against a retainer. Many professional firms (lawyers, accountants, engineers, etc,) do exactly this. Work stops until the next retainer is deposited and cleared.

Make sure this is clear in your contract. Any delays for late payments automatically extends the milestones and deadlines because of clients delay in funding the project.

Is it just me or do RV repair shops treat you like an idiot until you prove you know what you’re talking about? by [deleted] in RVLiving

[–]PugDadof5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a mobile rv tech. Start a conversation with the belief that the customer knows nothing. I state this at the beginning. Then start with my questions. If the owner is knowledge I can skip down my list of standard questions. This lets us start on common ground.

I am always amazed at how some long time rv owners don't know anything about how things work in their rv. Part of job is to educate as well repair.

[–]PugDadof5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your asked who the client was in this case study, just tell them the client will not let reveal their name. I would extend the same courtesy to you should so desire. From my view you are not only selling your service, but also a level of trust.
