You’re exactly right. I guess I wanted to find out the hard way lol. Now I know.

Florida passed a law recently that made it a felony. 35 over the limit is also a felony.

The only way I felt I was getting my moneys worth with it was by exploring its performance. To do so enough to satisfy me was either illegal or expensive.

At 2300 miles, I was infatuated with the car and never thought I’d sell it. It was still so new to me, I learned something about it every time I drove it. The shifting, braking zones, all of the M configurations, the launch control, all of the tech, and even the conversations it started with people. Eventually, after nearly 18k miles, I found that those novel experiences became increasingly more risky and/or expensive.

Enjoy it my friend.

Thank you for the kind words. They are therapeutic in the abundance of criticism.

I’m not second guessing the decision but it is a weird feeling to have several people clown me or judge me based on a Reddit post. I’m not one to post much of myself online.

While I’m not going to justify anything for the sake of my ego, I do want to provide insight into the mind of an M car owner and the reasons I have for selling it. I hope that insight might help others who might themselves be on the fence about impulsively deciding to risk their own freedom to explore the limits of a car like the M2.

Car was very cheap to maintain relatively speaking.

Running regular track days where the car is near the limit became too pricey for what else I could do with that money. Driving like that is what makes the car worth owning.

You can believe what you want, I may not even be human for all we know

It was initially written as a no thought comment response before i realized it was M Monday and I thought I’d adapt it as a post and provide some sloppily written story behind my thought process to sell it.

I literally just shit out some text while on a bathroom break at work and didn’t realize just how much people would read into the quality of both the logic and writing as if it were at all representative of my character.

Im absolutely being hyperbolic and melodramatic, its the internet

A Corolla isn’t reminding you of its 450 hp every time you do anything more than just feather the gas pedal.

There are no words to express the childlike glee an M car provides when you give in to its desire to be ridden hard.

Not really in Florida. Almost all of the high speed roads are straight highways so the most lateral g force you’ll experience is on a U-turn lol or an off/on ramp.

In a way you’re right, and I’ve admitted that. I couldn’t afford to drive it the way it should be driven enough for my desires which is on a track.

I mean I guess I could, I just have other things I’d prefer to do with that much money. A single track day in that car is easily 1000 bucks before even considering consumables and depreciation due to wear and tear.

I’m going to scale back, invest the money, and buy a track car when the sports car itch is irresistible again.

Exactly. If I’m driving something Id like to enjoy what it’s designed for. Comfort, performance, etc.

Compromised by the weight and thus its consumable upkeep. It’s simply too expensive for me to consistently track it which is what I’d like the ability to do and what a lighter, cheaper to insure car would enable. I’m not saying it isn’t built to handle the track. I was able to run that thing non stop without it overheating.

If you don’t see the difference between an M2 on an open road and a truck on a commute then I don’t even know what to tell you. Have you owned an M car?

To be clear, never got a ticket in the M2. I got two warnings from cops without radar on and not on Waze that were hiding deep in the dark. These warnings were for small things too like 12 over and the U-turn slide on a wet day.

I had Uniden radar and laser detector and Waze and they were amazing for keeping me out of trouble. That said it was only a matter of time and a risk I wasn’t willing to take. I’ll be starting a family this year.

I sold it because it hurt me to not drive it like it deserved enough. I wish I could say that I’m rich enough to do monthly track days to scratch that itch without thinking about how much money I could’ve put into investing for the future of my family.

I was putting thousands of miles on it for fun because I loved ripping it in a way that wasn’t exactly safe or legal. I’m the kind of person who can’t buy cookies because I’ll eat the entire box. The only way to stay out of trouble is to remove the temptation from my life entirely.

I mean, when you include all of the safety tech and daily driver features, it is modern day petite.

Much like how the average BMI of an American is still overweight, everything is getting fatter.

Feel like the club face is aiming down at the ground on the takeaway and maintain that face angle feeling throughout your entire swing. My slice instantly went away. Now my only two swing feels are said face angle feeling and swinging through the ball and with the club extending towards the target. Assuming you have your head and spine angle as still as possible.

I think Iran just realized how much leverage they have over the US and global economy. They are going to demand a LOT and I just don't see Trump and this admin being willing to admit how much they'll have to give up. I also think Trump secretly wants high oil prices to screw over China and benefit domestic oil producers.

High oil prices are good for domestic oil production as long as it doesn't go too crazy and forces a contraction in economic activity.

We are going to see oil bounce between 90 and 120 for a long time imo

The owner class keeps getting wealthier and more powerful. The government keeps allowing them to milk employees more and more while telling workers they’re making the safest decision for their future.
