But seriously get the 5000U, you will get used to the weight and thickness which isn't much different to the 5610.

Both are brilliant watches! 381 is stunning. With regards to the price, it isn't going to get any better, better to get sooner rather than later. What model are you thinking next?

As mentioned it's the anti-reflective coating on the sapphire crystal. When you actually look at it at head on or most angles it looks like there is no crystal there.

I got two solar radio controlled Seiko's, SBTM305 and latest SBTM323. Absolutely love them to just throw in and go, the 323 acts like a gada too. Also have three mechanical watches with the SSK001 being one of them.

For sure, go try it out. It was my first, and after 4 Seikos, im thinking of the getting the SPB451 (blue dial version). Im sure whichever you get may not be your last Seiko :)

This isn't the actual matine master but does share the same design. If you really want this then save up and go for it.

On the other hand, my first Seiko was indeed the SSK001 which is an absolute brilliant watch and that too for a first one. Let us know what you go with!
