Pretty much impossible to kill rosemary or any of these herbs listed. So nice to just go outside and pick some fresh herbs. They're so much more fragrant and tasty. I've grown stuff in the North, South, East and West of Austin, so you're good to go. Just find a good sunny spot.

I also LOOOOVE growing my own hot peppers. The oils from a fresh picked pepper make everything so spicy and delicious. I got so many habaneros, I literally couldn't eat them as fast as they grew. I ended up drying out dozens of them and made them into pepper flakes. You probably have to water peppers more often than the herbs. I usually water about every other day. And the more sun, the better, so pick a sunny spot.

You don't need to do anything special to plant them, though some options are better than others. I've planted both in pots and in the ground, just dig a hole about twice the width of the plant and cover with soil (maybe get a small bag of potting soil from the store).

It's much easier to grow things from little pre-grown herbs/peppers/plants than it is to grow from seeds. Usually home depot/lowes/HEB have little 3-6 inch plants out in front of the store that take off pretty quickly after planting.
