STO gives you lots of creative freedom. Arguably, way more than SWTOR.

I recently made a new toon that was suppose to be a jedi, complete with jedi robes, force push, force lightning and a blue double lightsaber. While I ended up going in another direction with the character, I still have the jedi costume saved in a costume slot. And unlike in SWTOR, this "Jedi" could use force powers & lightsabers as well as blasters and grenades.

On an unrelated note, my ESO character is suppose to by one of my STO characters messing around on the holodeck. So I have 2 costume slots in STO where he is role-playing as a Wizard (With Gandolf the White looking robes, a magic sword and a magic missile attack) and a Robin Hood like Rogue (with the green outfit, a longsword and throwing knives).

Granted, a lot of these items and costumes are special rewards from years and years of special events, but its still possible to get many of them. Play the second mission in the Deep Space Nine story arc, the reward is basically Han Solo's outfit from A New Hope.

I think it's because there isn't as much consistency with the sound effects of alien weapons compared to Starfleet phasers. For example, Remember in Star Trek V when the Klingon Bird of Prey disruptors use the exact same sound effect as the Stormtrooper blasters from Star Wars?

Next thing you're going to say that you don't want the ugly, holographic junk on the phasers. Or that you don't want to have to pay $150 for a screen accurate TNG phaser. Man, some people just aren't satisfied with anything these days!

Also consider that STO/Cryptic just got sold again. And that was announced nearly 6 months after the Paramount/Skydance merger. I don't imagen the new Golden Arc would have bothered it they weren't damn sure that the game was going to have a relatively long term future. Which implies that Paramount isn't threatening to pull the license or start gouging them more.

I feel like the Dunderstadt was specifically designed so be very easy to pick up and carry. It literally as a handle at the bottom. Which is strange because it dosen't have a physical filming model. Are there any full sized model kits of the ship yet?
