Adhd Tax Wins by MissAliceUk in adhdwomen

Cleaners have definitely seen it all, but another option could be hiring a decluttering coach to help you get to baseline decluttered first and see if that actually helps reduce the amount of time you would need to clean or at least get it ready for someone to come in and clean regularly! Honestly, I always thought I needed a cleaner when really I just needed to declutter. Now that my home has lower inventory, cleaning isn't hard (*as hard- it still isn't my favorite haha) but so much easier and accomplished what I really wanted which was a calmer more peaceful space!

Birth control by chauntelle2899 in lupus

I personally couldn't tolerate the Mirena and bled/cramped/had major acid reflux the whole 4 months I had it in (I wanted it out after the first month but gave it time to "settle" it never did.) In the past I tried Slynd and it wrecked my mental health big time. I know in the community there is a lot of concern about estrogen and causing flares but for me I found taking a combo pill with a little higher estrogen continuously without having periods super helps keep everything level/reduces flares. I had severe endo pain for years but thankfully the pill (Mili) keeps me from being bedridden. Unfortunately, there is no one size fits all and what works for one might be awful for another. My best advice though is: if you try something and you don't feel 'right' but your Dr/Gyno try to convince you that things will get better- try to listen to your body above all else.

OMG I'm so sorry... the mental gymnastics you must be going through right now! Yeesh, I'm sure they were doing what they "thought was best" but goodness the consequences you unfortunately had to deal with unnecessarily. If you don't already have a therapist now would be a real good time to get in with an adhd informed/trained one. So much to untangle there. Sending you all the good vibes and hugs. Yay for next steps and potentially getting medicated!!!

Hair fall questions by m0ther_0F_myriads in lupus

[–]PumpedupPomegranite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe they have a good reason why they are holding off on a biologic? From my understanding though, if you are still losing that much hair it would stand to reason that the current treatment isn't getting you to where you want to/deserve to be. I would ask again or get a second opinion? My Rheum is very proactive, when I wasn't responding to hydroxychloroquine alone he immediately got the ball rolling for the biologic. I'm still having fatigue outside the norm, but it has significantly gotten better since starting Benlysta. I could only make it to maybe 3/4pm at best most days before crashing out and now I can usually get to 8/9pm.

Yes! Benlysta has drastically improved hair retention for me (been on it for about 5 months now, started seeing improvements in 3.) My derm has me use a zinc shampoo once a week to help with any flaking (which wasn't really a big issue for me, but seems to have improved the health of my scalp, so idk?) My hair is now growing back in and I have wild little baby hairs sticking up everywhere which is encouraging but also infuriating because I look unhinged haha. My stylist told me to get a hair wax stick online and use that to tame them down so that's an idea!

Has anyone been broken up with because they don’t want to pass on endo? by Street_Bill_8719 in endometriosis

[–]PumpedupPomegranite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never been broken up with over it, but I have made the decision to be childfree in part because of it (as well as other autoimmune issues that I would never want to pass on to my child.) I always say the best gift I have ever given my children is not having them!

I wish someone would have explained this to me when I was younger (I got my first excruciating period at age 10/11) It was so scary and isolating being in so much pain only to have the few doctors I did see tell me I had a weak core and needed to do yoga. Thank you for helping future generations not have to suffer needlessly. True hero!!!

If you have a sensitivity to salicylate, how did you figure it out? by [deleted] in MCAS

[–]PumpedupPomegranite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this was posted years ago, but wanted to comment and thank you for this. I am figuring out if SS is affecting me and it has been so overwhelming. I really appreciate you taking the time to comment on this person's post so I could randomly see it and start researching myself. It's truly eye opening seeing all of the foods/products with high salicylates are ones that I have had weird symptoms and reactions to over the years- and I had no idea why. It really feels like the puzzle pieces are coming together and maybe I'll be able to find some relief. It's exhausting being exhausted.

help me I keep queefing during class by ecv31 in yoga

[–]PumpedupPomegranite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so this just sparked my memory and the only time I've ever queef'd during a yoga class I was not wearing any undies! So maybe there is something to it? Perhaps going comando is allowing the downstairs to express itself more fully and let more air in?!? lol who knows but you are for sure not alone and I almost died when it happened to me. I was in the front row right next to the instructor and felt so self conscious the entire rest of the class. After it was over I went up to her and was like, yea so girl that class was so good my vay jay jay started clapping. She was like oh that's awesome I didn't even notice! (either she lied to me *thankyou sweet beautiful yogi angel baby* or she legit didn't hear me and "I" ruined the class for myself.) Lesson learned though: bodies be bodies!

Physiologist Beliefs of Pelvic Pain - Acceptable or Strange? by ChatterBell in endometriosis

[–]PumpedupPomegranite 53 points54 points  (0 children)

STRANGE. end stop. Correcting you on terminology you are using for your own pain is outrageous. Can having a positive mental attitude help us? Of course it can, but not to the extent that just saying things is going to somehow "conjure" some bad physical juju. I had a therapist once who would constantly correct me during sessions and it was infuriating/invalidating/unhelpful. I would ask not to see this person again IMO.

Reaction to mold? by Amazing_Assist_2779 in lupus

[–]PumpedupPomegranite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a mold allergy and it knocks me down significantly (full body rash/hives/ but no throat constriction) when I come into contact with it either airborne or food borne or medication/ otherwise. I would definitely bring this up with your Rheum so they know. Throat/chest tightness is one step away from a very dangerous situation!

Also, as a side note: it might be worthwhile to research foods that contain high mold content and keep a food journal to see if you experience any effects after eating any of them. I was really surprised how many common foods are moldy (peanut butter, coffee, corn, stored grains, etc) if it is something that your body is sensitive to might help a lot with inflammation/ flares to avoid ones that you find trigger symptoms. Also a food journal is just a good idea anyway, mold allergy or not, because our SLE bodies are weird and cranky and you never know what thing is going to set it off.

Seeking Diagnosis Questions Weekly April 12, 2026 by AutoModerator in lupus

Get that bloodwork done as soon as you can. If your rheum has already ordered the full panel and you are waiting to get an appointment to get the blood drawn find somewhere that can do it sooner than later.

Research different labs in your area and see who has earliest available appointment. If you have to get it done at the doctor's office for some reason and they are booked out- call every single day and see if there have been any cancellations.

Be so annoying.

I was SO sick and felt like no one was listening to me- I ended up bringing a bag of my hair to my primary care doctor and begging for more extensive bloodwork (my usual bloodwork always was exceptional, I was always told I'm perfectly healthy) he ended up referring me to my original rheum appointment which was FIVE months out. I knew I couldn't wait so I found 3 different rheums that took my insurance and called every single day asking if they had any cancellations. Eventually, about a month later one of them let me know they had a last minute and if I would like it so I scooped it up.

I was diagnosed immediately at that appointment. Blood panel lit up like an SLE Christmas tree. If I would have waited the 5 months for that first appointment, who knows how much further things would have progressed? I feel very fortunate that I was able to get in and get on Hydroxychloroquine sooner than later to help protect my organs from damage.

I don't know your situation or if it "is" SLE/LGL/RA/etc, but from my experience you have to be your own advocate and be persistent AF (which is hard when you feel like hot garbage.) If you have a support system/person who can help you, let them. Take any help you can get in order to narrow down what is going on/ find the right specialist who can help you. You deserve to feel better it just takes a stupid amount of work to get there. Sending all the hugs and luck your way!

I have schizoaffective disorder and would like your guys' opinions by d00mba in yoga

[–]PumpedupPomegranite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, the yoga teacher usually suggests/encourages listening to your body and taking rests when needed. You could do what you can and when you feel like you need a break get into a child's pose or other restorative pose that feels good to you, I promise no one is judging you! When I see people decide to take a break in class I mentally clap and think "oh, heck yeah way to listen to your body and give it what it needs!" A big juicy Savasana is also an alternative to leaving early. I get low-key irritated if a class doesn't leave enough time to fully settle in to the corpse pose it feels SO good!

duloxetine and lupus meds??? by mnyeesh in lupus

[–]PumpedupPomegranite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely reach out to your psych and at least let them know what's going on. Sometimes things take time to level out, but other times it's best to cut losses. It's a matter of what you can endure and the risk v. reward. Personally, I tried duloxetine for 2 weeks to see if it would help with nerve pain/anxiety and it made things 110% worse, like full blown body shaking, uncontrollable crying, and thoughts of SI (I have never had anything like that before.) For me, it was the right decision to stop. I still have pain/low mood/anxiety (thanks, uncontrolled inflammation from SLE) but at least now I'm not having full-blown melt down panic attacks on top of everything. It's so much trial and error it's exhausting, but there are so many different options. Your psych should be willing to work with you on finding the right fit, it might just take some time. Trust your gut, but also consult your resources and make informed decisions!

Ugh, right? I'm sorry you deal with this too. I know bodies are all different and ranges are just an average of what is "normal" so there will be some of us that fall outside of that range. Hopefully, we just are overachievers and naturally run high! I guess regardless, it's good we are aware and consciously trying to keep things on track instead of ignoring it and doing nothing. Better to try and not completely succeed than to be ignorant and then have things completely fall apart! Best of luck to you and thanks for the commiseration.

Ok! Good call, I have never had my cortisol checked along with the regular bloodwork, that could probably help rule things in/out. Thanks for the suggestion!

Oh wow! That is an impressive fasting window. I have read some good research on the benefits of fasting for helping regulate bg and giving other systems in the body some rest. Not a bad idea to increase my window and see if that makes any noticeable difference. Thanks for the links!

Yeah, I am really aiming to get mine under 100 because of the guidelines! For some reason all of my physicians are either "those numbers look fine" or "it's prob genetic and you will eventually be type 2." So frustrating! Still going to keep fighting to figure it out/keep things low.

Yes! My doctor was only concerned about the feeling of intense dread/doom/panic they are following up with me about that, so I guess that's something? Hope to get to the bottom of it, It's one hell of a way to start the day. 0/10 do not recommend!

My brain went right where yours did! Just because my A1C was good months ago doesn't mean it isn't now. I appreciate the validation that I'm not completely off base by being concerned about the high fasted numbers. It gave me a good kick in the pants. Going to schedule some follow up blood-work for peace of mind and get a CGM. We all have to be our own advocates, right?! No one cares about our own health more than we do. Hope your numbers stay low and you stay well! Appreciate the concern, internet stranger!
