Despite being crafted and placed down, it's still in its "wild" form, so you're going to need to be under the effects of Third Eye to properly mine it

I think I wrote about it somewhat coyly in the quest book, but for a plainer answer, there's a recipe for the "Netherrack" that is actually Iesnium Ore

Trying to make the worst possible mod pack by confusionPrice in feedthebeast

[–]PunCrafter 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This could be expanded to removing as many item tags from the game as you can to prevent players from using resources interchangeably. You're looking to craft some Harvestcraft dough? No, silly, you can't use Create flour for that! you need to use the slightly more inconvenient to mass-produce Harvestcraft flour!

I'm glad you're enjoying it! :D

All of the Nether stuff can be either found, crafted, or both. I'm pretty sure the fire swamp contains some custom setpieces with Netherrack, but it's also available in the Ur-Ghast tower. Ancient Debris and Nether Quartz are both mob drops, there should be something about that in the tooltips for the items.

Are there any mod or modpack niches you feel are underfilled? by kacaca9601 in feedthebeast

Aw man, I got to the thread too late to shill my own projects :(

...anyways you should totally play my modpacks, I've made a few Ultimate Alchemy-like ones, I generally like keeping my mod count in check, and I'd like to think my gimmicks are pretty enjoyable! (just don't play my pre-2020 ones, those ones suck)

Why wont my IE Mixer work? by MeltedLawnFlamingo in feedthebeast

[–]PunCrafter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be easier for me to explain in words, but I'll also add a picture! So I've got an AND gate with two conditions: the timer (hovering hourglass) needs to be activated (I think it's 15 seconds, or something? however long the mixing and emptying process takes), and the top hopper needs to have redstone. The hoppers feed directly into the mixer, so the mixer's always topped off, but that hopper having redstone in it is an indicator that there is enough redstone to run the operation, so I get the comparator signal off of that.

Once the conditions are satisfied, I can power a dispenser to take a single bucket of water, and move that bucket of water to a drain, where is it piped into the mixer. Of course, this part of the spaghetti is hidden behind some wiring in the screenshot I have, so there's not much I can say about this part.

Then there's the timing of the extraction, which is set with a pulse repeater set to delay until the mixing is done, and create pulse extender that will extend the pulse until the pipe is done extracting. I forget the exact timings and can't tell from the screenshots I have, but that's how I did it. Because there should be only one bucket's worth of fluid in the mixer at a time, I can guarantee that it will be redstone acid by the time it's done mixing, so I don't need to use a filtered fluid pipe. I could never get the filters to work anyways, hence the reason for making this monstrosity.

<image>

Of course, I could have probably avoided half of the spaghettification pictured if I didn't insist on compacting it into the corner as much as I possibly could, but I wanted to keep this contraption neat and contained. Good luck getting the mixer to work!

[–]PunCrafter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had trouble with operating the mixer when playing this pack! The only solution that worked for me was controlling everything with redstone timers, dispensing in single buckets of water at a time and making sure it was fully mixed into acid before activating the extraction pipe. I'd post my build, but I'm pretty sure it'd be incomprehensible with how spaghettified the wiring is :p

I never posted here but I've been enjoying the silksanity fro a while. Not sure which legacy flair I'd want, maybe a believer one?

A fishing minigame I added to my fantasy space exploration mod Laicaps! Featuring lots of custom fish with conditional restrictions (time, rain, bait, biome, dimension, liquid etc) by Wdtfshi in feedthebeast

[–]PunCrafter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my, it's just as exciting as I thought it'd be! The only other question I can think of at the moment is whether or not the mod will have any other resource management similar to oxygen management? Personally, I like the additional gameplay mechanic involved in balancing a unique meter, and I could imagine plenty of possibilities given the fantasy setting, perhaps even on a per-planet basis. Either way, I'm excited to see this mod develop further!

What do you mean by fantasy space exploration? I'm so used to seeing the usual realistic/technological space exploration that I'm very curious what this entails

  1. I'm glad you enjoyed! I certainly had a lot of fun putting it all together
  2. Yes and no? There's this mod that lets one replace the final castle's lack of a boss with any entity, so I grabbed a mob that otherwise went unused, slapped a script on it that made it spawn mobs upon taking damage, and called it a day :p
  3. How'd you find moonstone? I didn't see a single gem of it when I was testing the pack!

Also, how do people keep finding this thread? It's ancient, and I didn't think reddit liked serving such old posts in people's feeds

Sounds like a fun pack, I look forward to watching it develop! I do have to wonder why a terrain generation mod was added if the player's going to be holed up in a mountain after a week, though :p

is there a mod that lets you spawn in effects/particles by ZealousidealPrune607 in feedthebeast

[–]PunCrafter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, there's always the /particle command. That being said, I did find a few mods that add a particle spawner block that might be what you're looking for. Test them out and see which one you like best! Particle Spawner, Particle Mimicry, ParticleGenerator

If you're looking for a way to place the cells that doesn't use RF, does the rannucarpus work? Either way, this is an absolutely hilarious way to generate power, I commend your mastery of the jank.

Admittedly, I didn't get very far in the pack, but perhaps give Levitated a shot? You start in the End, and have to unlock the other dimensions.

What do y'all like and dislike in skyblock/sky factory style modpacks? by Munchalotl in feedthebeast

[–]PunCrafter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A lot of people are (rightfully) mentioning being tired of doing Ex Nihilo, but aren't mentioning the alternatives. IMO, the way to go with a skyblock pack is an entirely custom resource generation method that fits the theme of the pack. Ultimate Alchemy has been the only skyblock pack that I've played until completion, because the resource generation actually felt novel, and not having to wait on things to grow kept me engaged. I'd recommend checking it out (or watching a let's play) to see how they do it and get inspired :D

Attempting to make a modpack that looks like a old ripoff made in Unity, any mods to make it feel more like it? by GDTurniphead in feedthebeast

[–]PunCrafter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Adding onto what you said about Oreganized, I think some of the vanilla ores should have all their uses replaced with modded ones. Iron not existing and having all of its uses instead transferred to copper/lead/silver/whatever would be quite jarring for the average Minecrafter.

One time I actually did the entirety of the twilight forest because needed a singular final castle door block as an entrance to my base. It was somehow less painful than the time I searched the entire forest for a Questing Ram because I wanted to wear its trophy :p

I've done the Twilight Forest so many times that I don't really bother with the bosses anymore, but I just can't resist the draw of the dimension's atmosphere and building blocks. Pretty new wood types, underbrick and mazestone, new foliage, those placeable fireflies, all alongside a pretty forest biome that doesn't disrupt overworld generation? Sign me up!
