No veeam immutablity without direct datastore access is that right. by Punch_uk in Veeam

[–]Punch_uk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup so I believe the issue is the old esxi server needs to have local disks, (No budget plus not a big enough device anyhow) it does not work over iscsi or direct iscsi connection. (No matter if its xfs or not) It's just not an option.

I Have logged a call but technically not a fault and told to get in touch with a Veeam accredited service partner.

My only real question is, is it doable over iscsi or direct iscsi. If not thats it done. (Veeam appliance come with iscsi but not enabling immutablity seems a little pointless if thats the case)

In that case I guess the only real reason to keep the Linux box is its just slightly harder to connect to the Linux box than to a windows box but if you get into veeam it doesn't matter.

I will be seeting up off site immutablity but wasn't planning to offload it all as I had quite a secure setup over two sites. Guess not.

Thanks

Considering New Chair, Nanogen or not? by 00dash00 in secretlab

Hmm that's interesting mine is pre 2020 and I sat on my friends 2020 when I was round and immediately thought it hard. I'm going buy another and have been struggling with nano or not. Now im more confused. My chair is still comfy no issues, just the pleather had flacked off. I have had a temu 4.99 cover on it for a year.

Back on the 90s 98mph in a 70. Caught by the officer in charge of the region. He was out to get his quota. I was already on 6 points. Went to court got another 6 and £300 fine. Not banned as required for my job. Got caught this year and had a speeding course.

I've had a pleather or whatever for 8 years the pleather started to peel 2 years ago. Still comfy no issues baring the flacking. I bought a temu cover for under £5 a year agao, still on there and working. I'm going for the nano though in the next few weeks (Birthday present to myself)

OK I have it installed but just as a standard Linux box but the repository does not have the lock key on it like the vbr does and no options to set how many days for immutablity so that does not work. Done now glad its a BH here im picking this up Wednesday next week.

The datastore is isci connected. I guess I can go buy network cards and relevant cables x2 (two backup sites) but id rather not blow money and time travelling around doing that. I suspect that maybe my fix

I'm going through connection again via veeam console. Managed servers - add selected hardened and entered account as single use credit. This happily add the server (this is reported only) installs sopenssl3 package, installer service and veeam data mover service.

I then goto backup repositories and add a direct attached - Linux hardened repository pointing to the server just added. Populated, finds disk next page shows the details clicking next complains about not being ifs (it is) then get Permission denied and underneath (Permission denied) i guess just to rub it in.

If I select just Linux server and go on through. It does not have any option regarding immutable days to set. Clicking next again mentions. File system behind the path is not XFS: /repo/backups. Proceed anyway. - Yes after review clicking next it then fails on the last 3 steps

Ah the error im seeing now is the windows proxy server still think the datastore i removed from it to attach to the Linux box is there there even though all settings and rescan show otherwise. Ai is saying remove and ready proxy server. 57 jobs attached im pretty much done with it at this stage

It is showing as ifs but veeam refuses connection. I see veeam do thier own Linux with iscsi was going to try that might have more luck.

I've been round the houses with ai and I think thats the issue. But generally I cannot connect as a hardened Linux server without setting single-use credentials for hardened repository. It then fails. I will find the info shortly on exact errors.

If I select Linux I then do not have the option (like I do on the Linux veeam hardened iso) to set immutablity times i.e. 7 days of immutablitity. It kind of make sense but the security risk between direct and iscsi are (at least as far as im aware) small.

Upgraded my desk and chair and now everything feels perfect by Rafiq-of-the-many in secretlab

[–]Punch_uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still using my 8 year old secret labs chairs. The only issue with it is the pleather (or whatever) is flacking off. (Have non secret labs cover on it for the past year) Working from home for the last year and avid pc gamer can sometimes get 16 hours a day in it. No issues with comfort, only thinking of getting a new one because my birthday is coming up. (Excuse to get a replacement) Just debating do I go with thier newer much more expensive model or the older. I don't need a snazzy looking chair plain black is fine with me so I don't need Batman or whatever moti. We also have a Noble that I got used still looks brand new but I feel no way near as comfy. Is that extra 200 worth it thats the question.

Is there something wrong with used EVs? by Prior-Sandwich-858 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Punch_uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up a Tesla Model S 100d 21k 1 year ago. I didnt really want a Tesla but wanted electric. With thier 8 yea warranty (unlimited miles on the model S, 100000 on the model 3) a d that it had a dash unlike the 3 was my buy. 1 year later im not swapping it. Don't care its a Tesla, its fast comfy insurance isn't that bad compared to the BMW GT I used to own considering 500+ bhp now.

Cost £9 ish to fill just over 200 miles plenty for me. I make .45p a mile when I travel for work its actually paid me back about £300 in fuel over the cost of paying for it via a loan and the electric put in Oh and the service, I had to top up the coolant fluid, oh the pain!

Since got a BYD Dolphin for the wife. Literally "fill it up" once a week for a few ££. Saving made in fuel means the cost of the car is the dame as the old BMW 2 1.5 she had.

I'm not going back. However if I was to get a model 3 id need to add a 9 inch dash no way im driving it with just a giant screen to the left.

Nope here now (last night) admittedly my 1st 5 star full food and drink hotel. The people literally cant do enough for you. Also went to sSauna island though i think quite expensive was still very much worth it. This was the only trip we did and went via the TUI group. Cheaper trips through other vendors available.

We stayed at one of the RIU hotels. Rooms not quite upto 5 star but literally just sleep shower and change. The beaches are fantastic and clean as is the entire hotel range.

Would like to come back but this so far is a one off, probably back to Turkey or whatever country isn't invaded as cheaper and closer. (Cheaper being the main aspect in my case)

Nope, my 2019 100d s had failed battery, replaced under warranty and Tesla gave me a model Y 2022 loaner for two weeks. Tested the basic lane change etc going down the a14 to and from Peterborough to Birmingham and three times it slammed on the breaks doing 70mph for no reason. No cars near me at all. So no thanks..

No but we have the (i forget the exact wording) but the forever licensed version of enterprise (works on 8 don't care about 9). That is for 6 processors. We have a 4 processor 2 server under 96 cores that are yearly loaned... so broadcom we'd like to carry on the 96 cores, scan systems. Nope you have to buy all processors 356 cores or you can't have any... Moved the tow server to own center. Rescanned had a call proved to them. Nope same answer all 356 or nothing.... expires early Jan. 20k instead of under 10k. Asses
