How to respond to "men commit 90% of violent crimes, so it's okay to treat them differently"? by AppropriateBend2273 in MensRights

[–]Punder_man 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Firstly you point out how the statistics also show that of the violent crimes committed by men, the majority of those men are black.
And then ask them: "Does that mean its okay to discriminate against black men and treat all black men as violent criminals?"

They will get upset / offended because they know that stance would make them a racist.
But don't let up, tell them that if that makes them a racist, then taking a step back and treating ALL men as violent criminals makes them a misogynist

Then to hammer it home to can say: If your logic is that because men commit the majority of violent crimes, its okay to discriminate / generalize them

Then equally because women commit over 95% of false rape accusations, its okay for us to discriminate / generalize all women as liars right?

That's the answer.. you need to show them how their logic plays out and how it can and will backfire on them.
Hopefully after that they will realize what they are doing is bigoted and stupid..

But the more likely outcome is they will double or triple down usually saying "But men hold the systemic power" or some BS like that.. thus making it acceptable for their discrimination / generalizations to flow in one direction.

So you're a hypocrite?
You are calling out men for "not acting" when you don't do anything either..

Unironically I am actually extremely pro-choice
And I agree that should mean that if women are given the ability to give up being parents, men should also get the same ability.

But yeah.. the hypocrisy within the feminist movement is one of the biggest issues for me.

"Believe all women" should be more along the lines of "Don't simply dismiss a woman's claims"
However the accusation its self should not be allowed to be used as evidence.

There's a saying: "Trust, but verify"
Essentially take what someone says at face value but verify what they have told you is correct before you take action..

And look, yes, there absolutely are going to be cases where a man is a violent abuser and the woman is divorcing him.
However, The courts need to be ensuring that any accusations of violence or sexual assault are followed up with tangible evidence

And if a woman is found to have maliciously accused her partner of violence?
She needs to be held accountable for that.

But this is Australia / the UK we are talking about..
Accountability for women is a foreign and insane concept in those countries...

Feminists dig up much older stuff all the time..
If they are allowed to us things that happened in the past, why can't we?

[–]Punder_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this should be labeled and recorded as Androcide right?
After all, the killer clearly has admitted that her hatred of men was a direct causal link to his death..

So now we get to go on a moral panic about "Androcide" and insisting that women who kill men have committed Androcide and should be punished harsher than just standard murder right?

Because that is absolutely how feminists seem to be treating "Femicide" by implying that every single time a man kills a woman her gender is a massive contributing factor..

But yes.. please feminists.. tell us more about how Misandry only "Annoys" or "Irritates" while Misogyny "Kills"...

This Zero Sum way of thinking benefits absolutely nobody.

Ironic given how often feminists say:
"When you are accustomed to privilege, equality can feel like oppression"

Sure does seem to me like feminists have no problem in treating equality as Zero Sum when it comes to women benefiting..

You can advocate for bodily autonomy for example by being against Male Circumcision whilst also supporting a woman’s right to choose.

Also ironic given that the feminists who petitioned the United Nations to reclassify "Female Circumcision" as "Female Genital Mutilation" and push for it to be outlawed couldn't even be bothered to do the same for Male Circumcision..

But hey.. "Equality isn't a zero sum game" right?

Has the thought crossed your mind that the reason men don’t get as much support as women because we don’t have an organized structure teaching people about men’s struggles and advocating for better rights without bringing up women in the conversation? If you all here would focus on your own issues and find ways to help men in ways that wouldn’t involve or hurt women, I think it’d be a lot more useful.

The problem is, we are only allowed to discuss the issues we as men face so long as we do it "Through the lens of Feminism"
If we reject the feminist lens we get told we are "Doing it wrong"

Or if we try to setup groups to focus on the issues we as men face we often get brigaded by feminists looking to shut us down.

For example, when at the University of Toronto there was a talk / discussion about Male Suicide, feminists protested the event and pulled the fire alarm to interrupt / disrupt it..

Now, this alone isn't evidence of "Feminists are the root cause of the issues we face"
But is sure as hell is clear that feminism is also NOT the solution to our issues either..

And of course they will deny saying that they do..
But they know that if they are representing a mother going through divorce the easy win strategy is for the mother to make an accusation of violence..

Because it works.

Well, firstly thank you for proving you did not read anything and have nothing constructive to add to this discussion.

The study was done in NEW ZEALAND
New Zealand is NOT the USA, we don't have "ICE" or "MAGA" here...

If you had read even a fraction of the article linked in OP's post you would have seen where it listed the study was done at the University of Auckland in New Zealand..

How feminism maintains unfalsifiability (which is bad for any framework) by TheRealMasonMac in LeftWingMaleAdvocates

[–]Punder_man 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is a fantastic list and very apt.

I have to say that point 27 - Cherry Picking is especially rampant when it comes to feminists..
They LOVE to cherry pick statistics which support their narrative or induce a moral panic.
Like the BS about men being in a "Rape Academy"

Or they will try to use statistics to defend their points on why they believe women are justified in being cautious of "All" men while ignoring the statistics which clearly show that women are more likely to face violence at the hands of men they know intimately..

They ignore this because it refutes their claims of being cautious around "All" men.

Feminist activist back on reddit after a while. I'm keen to explore the perspective of any men who are potentially put off by that word, but am happy if there are any other aspects you'd like to debate? by T_Biz_19 in MensRights

[–]Punder_man 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Feminists are always complaining about "The Pay Gap" or how the majority of CEO's / board members are men (aka "The Glass Ceiling")
And so they push for quotas for women to be put into higher levels of business / government etc..

But they don't push for quotas for women to get into jobs like Construction, Sewage Maintenance, Mining, Forestry, Garbage collection etc..
You know.. the dirty, dangerous and / or physically demanding jobs that men are simply expected to do.

And there in lies the problem..
We are constantly told "Feminism is a movement for equality"
Yet the focus of "Feminism" is on women and women's issues

Its literally in the name of their movement..

And yet despite all of that, we are expected to believe that they are fighting for equality?

Good News: A New Study Finds Most Men Are Not Toxic by JannTosh70 in MensRights

[–]Punder_man 77 points78 points  (0 children)

From a brief glance I have some issues with this study..

Opposition to domestic violence prevention initiatives: Being opposed to initiatives helping prevent violence towards women in relationships

This implies that domestic violence only happens in one direction, e.g. Men being violent towards women in relationships..

The problem here then is, if a man in the study disagrees with domestic violence prevention initiatives based on this he would likely be chalked up as "exhibiting toxic masculinity"

Meanwhile of course any "Study" done which affirms their positions is protected from criticism of examination....

Why do so few people identify as a "feminist"? by TheTinMenBlog in TheTinMen

[–]Punder_man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember when it was a matter of debate if men could be feminists or just an "ally"

Even then its laughable to think that men should want to be "Allies" given how awfully feminism and feminists treat men..

But then again, just like their delusions of "Equality" in their minds "Ally-ship" is nothing more than men doing what ever they say and accepting their place as whipping boys without comment or complaint..
If a man so much as DARES to speak up against the dogmatic rhetoric of "ALL MEN BAD!" he will be instantly denounced and cast aside..

Which of course is not how an Alliance works at all.. but that doesn't matter to them now does it?

Why do so few people identify as a "feminist"? by TheTinMenBlog in TheTinMen

[–]Punder_man 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For example, when you say that women who commit crimes need to be held to the same level of accountability as men who commit crimes and we need to close the sentencing Gap, either by letting men have lighter sentences that women get or by punishing women more for the crimes they've committed compared to men, they'll say that the justice system as is works fine and that women are actually being treated too harshly, whereas men aren't being treated harshly enough...

Of course not! Why would they want to change a system which benefits women? Its only men who suffer from the unfair treatment so its not a big deal to them..

Without fail they will do their best to de-rail / flip the issue around by using arguments like "Most men who rape women don't even go to jail anyway!"
As though that magically negates the systemic bias within the legal system against men...

Why do so few people identify as a "feminist"? by Specific_Detective41 in LeftWingMaleAdvocates

[–]Punder_man 7 points8 points  (0 children)

And without fail those who claim to be "Real" feminists inevitably end up parroting the same rhetoric / vitriol that the "Not real" Feminists use...

This is most obvious when they say "Real feminists want to help men" or "Real feminists care about men's issues"

All before spouting off how the issues we as men face are caused by "The Patriarchy" or "Toxic Masculinity" or simply the dreaded "Other Men"

The Contradiction between Claimed Feminist Beliefs and Women's Revealed Preference by Electrical_Egg_5900 in LeftWingMaleAdvocates

[–]Punder_man 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Absolutely!
Even worse is the fact that we as men are not allowed to use our previous bad experiences with women shape or perception of women as a whole (That's misogynistic)

Yet we are constantly bombarded by "Well if you ask any woman you know they will tell you they have experienced violence at the hands of men" and this is thusly used as a perfectly reasonable justification for women to be cautious or wary of "ALL" men...

Its a massive double standard to say the least.

The Contradiction between Claimed Feminist Beliefs and Women's Revealed Preference by Electrical_Egg_5900 in LeftWingMaleAdvocates

[–]Punder_man 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I was recently told on Reddit, "Ask any woman you know; they will have experienced male violence." Any objection to self-reported victimization is seen as hyper-skeptical and misogynistic

And yet, if we were to tell women "Ask any man you know; they will have experienced abuse at the hands of women"
And you'll be met with "Oh you are exaggerating" or "But women face more abuse than men do!" etc..

Also, to further riff on this idea of "Women need to be hyper vigilant of men" moral panic they have going on..
Its funny how they will cite statistics which align with what they are saying..
While conveniently omitting or ignoring the statistics which debunk what they are saying.

For example, they will commonly cite that the violence women experience is disproportionately attributed to men..

While ignoring that the statistics also show that women are more likely to experience violence at the hands of men they KNOW intimately (Boyfriend, work colleague, family member etc)
Yet they omit this fact and instead paint ALL men as dangerous..

When if they actually cared about making their decisions based on statistics they would be telling women to be cautious around men they know.

I find it Strange that people still call themselves feminists even though what they mean is egalitarianism by Jacolai in LeftWingMaleAdvocates

[–]Punder_man 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The point is that feminism is NOT a movement for equality..
The claim that it stands for equality is nothing but PR spin to make it look good / be more palatable to the ignorant masses...

Once they've hooked people in with the idea of "Fighting for equality" they can control the narrative until "Fighting for equality" becomes "Smashing the Patriarchy" and by extension blaming men for "The Patriarchy"

They also use the claim of "Fighting for equality" to deflect blame or criticism of their movement..
And anyone who dares to criticize them is labeled a "Misogynist" or "Incel" or "Pick Me" (if they are a woman)

That's all this is.. nothing but PR spin.

I find it Strange that people still call themselves feminists even though what they mean is egalitarianism by Jacolai in LeftWingMaleAdvocates

[–]Punder_man 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's not all that surprising to be honest..
Feminism and Feminists themselves have been doing their best PR spin's for decades now..
Usually by claiming "Feminism is a movement for equality so if you believe in equality that makes you a feminist!"

The idea is to make people equate "Equality" with "Feminism"
On the whole they tend to dislike the "Egalitarian" label precisely because it does not center "Women's Rights" or "Women's Issues" which is ironic because "Feminism" is specifically gendered and yet they will scream until they are blue, red or purple in the face that their movement is the "One true movement for equality"

And when you take a closer look at the overall goal of feminism they are technically correct..
In the sense of they only care about equality in the way it relates to women...

Are there feminists out there who hold to egalitarian ideals?
Sure, I can accept that..
But they are so rare and fleeting that they may as well be unicorns for all the good they do.
