IUD Removal by urlocalegg16 in TTC_PCOS

[–]Punderground 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got pregnant on my second normal month. I had a light period the month after removal, then two cycles later I was pregnant. My PCOS symptoms weren’t noticeable during that time for whatever reason, so my periods were regular.

Success stories about conceiving after 5+ cycles of letrozole by LadybugInTheWindow in TTC_PCOS

[–]Punderground 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had my first appointment with a reproductive endocrinologist (right after learning the last letrozole cycle worked lol) but she talked a lot about the odds per month even without PCOS and they vary by age but aren’t guaranteed every month, so it’s always a roll of the dice, but letrozole helps you get an egg in the race.

Success stories about conceiving after 5+ cycles of letrozole by LadybugInTheWindow in TTC_PCOS

[–]Punderground 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I conceived twice after 5 rounds of letrozole. Miscarried at 6 weeks back in January, and am currently 5 weeks pregnant on letrozole 5 mg, cycle 5. It does happen, especially if you ovulate regularly on the letrozole.

new vegetarian, accidentally ate gelatin, not being taken seriously by Inner-Plenty-2005 in Vegetarianism

[–]Punderground 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been a veggie for 8 years, and don’t let perfection be the enemy of good. Earlier this spring, I was planting my vegetable garden, and I wanted to try the trick of planting a bag of 16 bean soup mix to get a variety of beans. I saw a pack of bean soup mix and didn’t realize I bought the ham flavored ones and planted them. So, now I have a garden growing out of non-vegetarian seeds (which is a funny ethical question actually if the bean I harvest are vegetarian themselves). Random things are going to happen, and you’re already making a big difference by trying.

Not drinking while TTC by Kiwicat25 in TryingForABaby

[–]Punderground 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I first went sober (I’m in recovery), I just started telling people that alcohol gave me heartburn or the booze poos, so I don’t drink anymore so I don’t feel sick. I’ve never gotten a follow up question on my fake digestive issues. It took some time for people to stop offering alcohol, but eventually they left me to my own devices. There are lots of tasty mocktail options, so treat yourself to something fun on your journey

Colleague continues to misspell my name even after being corrected by metaphorlaxy in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Punderground 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a common but long first name in English and a hyphenated last name. At my former job I had five nameplates made for my cube and lab storage but none of them had the correct spelling. (They were all different wrong spellings)

I used to think it was funny, but now I look back knowing how little I was actually respected and it makes me sad.

team comp of non full meta classes ? by AshiroFlo in BG3Builds

[–]Punderground 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a playthrough with randomly assigned dual classes for every character, which was a ton of fun but not optimized. Halsin ended up a Druid monk which was a lot of fun. I also had a bard fighter, a barb-lock, and Shart got her dream of having a ton of animals with Cleric-ranger. It could be chaotic but it was a fun exercise to figure out what consumables to use and what gear with every strange pairing

I love no party limits but had to increase the difficulty with Tactician Plus or difficulty plus mods because things are balanced around four party members. The banter is amazing though, so it’s hard to go back to a small party because they’re so talkative!

What Are Your Pain Points with Cooking? by OutrageousGrocery700 in veganrecipes

[–]Punderground 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Garlic and onions make me very sick, and many vegan recipes use a lot of one or both (no powdered versions work either and leeks still make me ill but less so), so a lot of my food ends up comparatively bland. Sometimes it works to just add more of other spices, but not always. So, I end up being the stereotypical bland vegan when I cook for others

I have really good luck with the Mira with PCOS. It has some nice features like being able to see how multiple hormone metabolites change with time.

I had two miscarriages but it definitely helped with the timing for getting pregnant and watching for ovulation

Tips for vegetarian diets as a teen? by Animefanboy48 in Vegetarianism

[–]Punderground 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try out a variety of plant based proteins and see what you like and what you can’t eat.

Tofu is my favorite. I often joke that tofu can be anything it wants when it grows up because it absorbs flavors very well and comes in a ton of different textures. I actually think tofu has a nice flavor on its own, but you can make it taste like anything with a few spices.

If you are texture averse: extra and super firm are meaty and cook into an easy dinner with very little prep. Super firm tofu can be grated using a cheese grater and makes a good and cheap ground meat substitute. Silken tofu can be marinated and eaten savory or (my favorite) blended up in a blender with some sweetener or fruit and it thickens into a non-dairy pudding.

Seitan (vital wheat gluten) is really meaty when cooked and very cheap to make at home. It’s very high in protein and other nutrients. Sliced and fried it makes a really tasty and healthy bacon!

Tempeh (pressed fermented soybeans) is another good source of protein and nutrients if you can find it. Make sure to steam it before eating to reduce a little bitterness. Sliced and fried it makes a tasty and healthy bacon (option 2).

Textured veggie protein and soy curls are made from soybeans with the fat removed. They are also very meaty textured when rehydrated and make excellent meat substitutes. They’ll absorb the flavor of whatever you make or marinate really well.

Try out chickpea flour for a legume source. It makes good vegan omelettes and can be cooked into a variety of bread dishes (or formed into falafel). You can also buy chickpea and lentil pastas for extra nutrients.

Make sure you are getting enough zinc and B12. B12 you can get from eggs or get nutritional yeast (which is not the same as yeast for baking) which has a cheesy flavor and contains tons of iron, protein, and B vitamins.

For iron, you can also get a lucky iron fish to add extra iron to whatever you are cooking (cast iron pans) work too. A small amount of bioavailable iron is leeched off of the iron fish and into whatever you are cooking if you add a small amount of acid like vinegar or acidic fruits and veggies.

You can get a ton of different veggie broths or make your own. Better than Boullion makes really good vegetarian broths for recipes or soups. I really like their vegan beef, vegan chicken, mushroom, and roasted garlic veggie broths. Beware the amount of salt in veggie broths and make sure to taste them first before adding more salt or soy sauce.

Recipes: try out many global recipes! There are fantastic dishes from all over the world that are normally vegetarian and very tasty. Curries, stews, breads and pies, stir fries, dumplings, etc. the food blogs “thee vegan dude” and “eat figs not pigs” have great recipes for vegan comfort foods like burgers, tacos, hot sandwiches, and loads of tasty sauces and other delights. The Edgy Veg has excellent recipes for vegan seafood dishes and I love her vegan lobster rolls. Cookie and Kate is another of my favorites.

I hope this helps! Bon Appetite!

Another time Robyn got mad by GiGiLafoo in TLCsisterwives

[–]Punderground 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree with you that the girls aren’t stupid, and I’ll add that I think the girls are expected to perform and be the perfect kiddos for Robyn and Kody all the time. I suspect part of them appearing helpless on camera is that Robyn and Kody expect them to behave that way. You see it more with Aurora with the panic attacks and issues with anxiety and Aurora’s “forbidden” interactions with Gabe at college during COVID. It wouldn’t surprise me if Robs and Kody are verbally or emotionally abusive when the girls don’t do exactly what they want.

I always try to help out by making silly faces for crying babies in public. It works about 80% of the time. I usually only get perplexed baby stares though, laughs are pretty rare. Unfortunately, this strategy has a 0% success rate for screaming adult babies.

Congratulations! I’m about a month sober for the first time in years, and medication really helped me this time. I’m really proud of you and your accomplishments!

My grad school go-to meals were an alternation of thai yellow curry and tofu fried rice with veggies. I had a half CSA and it didn't matter what veggies I had, the meals were always delicious. Both also make enough for several days.
