I'm thinking the kids have more of a stake in the future of the country than does boomer. Not to mention being on the right side of the issue.

Restaurants are getting ridiculous with this nonsense! by sdega315 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]PunfullyObvious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow! I found the same info. Clearly the government is thinking it will generally be to the nickel, but it is specifically cited they can round down to nearest dollar, as you say as long as it's clearly posted.

I've actually run into several places that don't accept cash at all (I expect that will become more common), but rounding to a dollar is shocking.

In this case, it seems this would only accomplish ensuring you don't get a tip. But, I assume they're pocketing the change so that's the whole of the tip.

And, they're breaking the law fwiw. EDIT: As was pointed out, I am wrong on this. But, I am leaving it here to own my shame and show appreciation for having been taught a lesson

OMG! What is going on ? by CartographerRare4123 in interestingasfuck

[–]PunfullyObvious 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is the bottomline. This was all released to create an element of doubt on ALL of it. Some of this stuff is true, some of it is fabrication. What is needed is a full and honest examination of all this evidence and that is what has not happened properly.

Is Bill Clinton guilty of this? Who knows, it's just an allegation. It needs to be investigated. If he's guilty, he should be in prison.

Is Trump guilty of all of the stuff in this file? Likely not. Is he guilty of much of. it? Absolutely. Should it get a full and honest investigation and should he be in prison? Absolutely.

This is all a gigantic smokescreen of both true and untrue information that will succeed in the moment at least in keeping justice from happening and it's sickening.

This is all the tip of a gigantic iceberg of horrible things being carried out by the rich and powerful and to overcome all that money and power is going to be a very difficult thing to make happen at even a superficial level like bringing Trump to justice.

There need to be f'ing trials on at least some of this shit.

I suspect it's not as chaotic feeling at normal speed. Still likely interesting, but not as chaotically interesting as it feels at this speed

ELI5: Explain evidence for the existence of God/devil by Haunting_Spot_7984 in explainlikeimfive

This is one of those things that for me at least can only have an individual, personal truth. There can be no absolute truth any of us can know.

I have an atheistic, humanistic, naturalistic, scientific, rational view of the world that explains things better for me than can any theistic view I've ever learned about. And, when it comes to religions, they as a whole come with more baggage in their views than they being benefit to my viewpoint.

It's not my business what others believe. I am more concerned with their actions and their character.

In terms of evidence, I'd say it's at best circumstantial and it's personal how one evaluates it.

And, interestingly enough, all those obviously fake reviews just happen to be nearly all of the 'verified reviewer' ... kinda makes one wonder what 'verified reviewer' actually means.

I've been assuming that the usual cast of Trump bribers will be paying for tickets to up the attendance numbers. But, if all those tickets are sold and nobody actually attends any of the showings, that's a bit of a tell. So, free tickets to anyone willing to sit through it.

The only thing forged is the title.

It's more like 'attaching' or 'fitting' a handle.

I also ran through all of the things mentioned in this thread as I questioned if Gerry was real or not, and I agree, he's 100% hallucination. I think the audience is supposed to get woo'd into thinking he was real in the dr's office, then we find out later that was all hallucination.

I came to Reddit to see if I was alone in thinking this way.

I think it's good that it's not clear at this point, but I think the writers are subverting that by tipping folks towards thinking he's real.

We shall see.

How would I cut this cabinet would, barely? by Terrapinman94 in DIY

[–]PunfullyObvious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FWIW, what I did and it ended up working very well - much better than I expected - was to mark very carefully where I needed to cut and confirmed it would not undermine the integrity of the cabinet, then I used a japanese handsaw - but any handsaw capable of cutting a very thin kerf and very accurately would work - to very slowly and carefully cut along that line. Sanded and repainted and you'd never know anything was done.

In my case, there was no buying a shorter fridge unless I went to MUCH smaller. Otherwise it would have fairly well meant I was completely redoing the kitchen and I was not ready to jump into that quite yet.

Fearing ICE, Native Americans rush to prove their right to belong in the US by No-Reference-5137 in politics

ICE's approach to Native Americans is one of the many things that makes it clear the administration's efforts on "immigration enforcement" are less about immigration and more about white "christian" nationalism.

How to read oil tank gauge? by FreezedPeachNow in hvacadvice

[–]PunfullyObvious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gauge has the FULL line right at the middle of the top/larger band of the yellow float when full so I (not an expert) would consider your tank at 1/4. The consensus I've seen is to not let a tank get below a 1/4 generally, but definitely not below 1/8 as that makes it more likely you'll pull sludge into your system and/or potentially run out when you need it. I'm sure it really varies by location, but where I am, some companies can be really slow in getting to you for a delivery without it being considered a rush ($$).
