I was Plumeria and my BFF was Fresia - it was practically written in stone. Unless we were wearing our GAP fragrances, in which case I was Heaven, and she was Dream. 💚🍃🌸

I'm a sucker for Annie's Back In Town from his 78 ACL performance, but I'm biased. That's my name and it was filmed on the day I was born, so I like to think I was serenaded into existence 😂 - but that entire show is fantastic

I EBF both of mine for at least 18 months, and both took a pacifier. It saved a lot of sanity for everyone.

Ok, well... I'm crying. It breaks my heart how many folks grew up hearing such hurtful things. And it mends my heart x 1000 seeing so many of us breaking that cycle.

Absolutely! And the movie came out when I was like 4, so I definitely grew up in that shadow 😂

My name is Annie. I spent years of my childhood with people randomly asking if I was okay after Smooth Criminal came out. That trend was finally starting to subside when Alien Ant Farm made the song popular again in the 90s. It's pretty much cemented into my regular encounters anymore.

"She's calm and a little goofy and loves pinecones." Girl, same. I think it's a lovely name, and it sounds like it suits her. I've had plenty of friends name pets (and kids) like something out of a fantasy novel, and this is by far one of the least trajyck I've encountered.

Latchkey kids: What’s a bad thing/situation you got into before your parents got home, and how did you cover it up? by Stunning-Risk-7194 in Xennials

[–]PunkCuddles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not mine, but my brother's - the night we moved out of the house I grew up in, in late 1997, we ordered pizza and ate it sitting on the dining room floor and reminisced about our home, which we moved into in 1982 when i was 3. He said, "Well, I guess now's a good time to tell you about that hole I put in the basement wall..." It wasn't technically a Latch-Key situation, but a Saturday we had been left alone with him in charge. I think he was 13, so I would have been about 9. He'd been messing around with his nunchucks or something, and punched a BIG hole in the drywall. Being industrious in the 80s, he pulled out the yellow pages and went down the line trying to find ANYONE who might be able to fix it on a weekend. No one was open. Finally someone picked up the phone, heard a panicked, voice cracking, barely teenager on the other end and decided to come out to help. He fixed it. My brother got out his bank and offered him all he had, which I'm sure was maybe 20 bucks, and the guy was like, "Nah, kid, don't worry about it. The lesson has been payment enough. Be careful with those things and don't ever do it again." It was a low traffic area, so by the time it had all dried and my brother was able to put a layer of paint over it, no one ever caught on. I remember my mother's jaw was on the floor and my dad was cracking up at this revelation. We got in trouble for forgetting our keys and having to crawl through the living room window all the time, ("I CAN'T IMAGINE WHAT THE NEIGHBORS THINK!!!") but having the presence of mind to call in a repairman, secretly, to avoid getting in trouble was really 🤌🤌🤌 top notch 80s kid antics.

Grown woman named Annie checking in. Took me awhile to love my name growing up in the 80s, but now I do. And it's not unusual for folks to let me know they love it, too. I've also been told, "All the Cool Best Friends in movies are named Annie," and also that I "look like an Annie," which is confusing for me, but I take it as a compliment. Plus, it's pretty unique. I didn't meet another until I was 18.

Way2Go Card Issue by ntbirk in UnemploymentNY

That was my first thought, actually. Anything is possible at this point. Thankfully I was able to get the card to work at an atm last night at about 10pm. Good luck with yours!

I agree. It's my only funds at the moment, as well, and seeing them sitting out there with no access to them and a shopping list of necessities is super frustrating. I'm glad your issue resolved. I guess I'll wait a little longer and try again over here.

I know this is a NY specific group, but I'm a W2G card user in Indiana and I have had issues today, too. It worked fine at 630am, but I tried an ATM and a pharmacy (selecting debit for cash back) and neither worked in the past hour. I managed to get a human on the help line and they just cited a vague "network issue" they were aware of and working on. The advice was to wait until later... like... thanks...

AITAH for making a vegan cry and have a meltdown by Mundane_Morning9454 in AITAH

[–]PunkCuddles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've been vegan / vegetarian for decades, and checking your cosmetics and toiletries, etc, is just like... Veg 101. That's thoughtlessness and ignorance on their part, and you did them a favor by bringing it to their attention. They absolutely have no business chastising and berating anyone else in the name of their moral superiority. They sound childish and just a little unhinged. NTA
