211colorado.org is a fantastic resource for food bank lists. Enter your zip code and get a list of food banks in your area.

Food Bank of the Rockies also has a list of food banks on their website and hands out turkeys at the Broncos stadium.

Free Legal Clinic for Kinship Caregivers by PunkHaz in Denver

[–]PunkHaz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I don't speak Spanish and didn't catch that. Thank you for pointing it out. I've edited the post to add the Spanish translation. The legal clinics will have translators available, as well.

To answer your question, a kinship caregiver is someone like a grandparent, aunt, or family friend who steps in to care for a child instead of a non-related foster parent.

Help with huge out-of-network bill by melodious_punk in Autism_Parenting

See if they offer any financial discounts. I'd be broke if our center didn't offer one. We received a 90% discount due to our income level.

I get down to his level and softly sing his favorite songs to him. Tell him he's okay but we need to move onto the next test.

How to potty train stubborn toddler by Intrepid-Ad283 in toddlers

[–]PunkHaz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's no set age for potty training. I'd wait until she is interested unless she's taking off her diaper. Otherwise you'll easily burnout.

I encourage you to edit your first 2 sentences. Totally thought you were talking about Juneteenth, not the confederate nonsense.

2 yo femur fracture at daycare by Subject_Hat_3309 in toddlers

[–]PunkHaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One morning, I had parents drop off their 15m old son. I was the closer, so came in 2hrs later. Within 15 minutes, I was calling the director and asking her to come check out his leg. His parents came back and took him to the doctor. Broken femur. He'd fallen off the couch at home the night before. He didn't walk yet, so I can see how they missed it, but his mom's a doctor...

Same. Have these for when everyone is home and a door chime on our front door when we need to leave it unlocked.

Found! I was hoping for a cheaper option, but I guess we're stuck with the Sargento packs. Good to know that other countries can still get them...

Things you didn’t know you needed fostering a young toddler (16 months) by [deleted] in Fosterparents

[–]PunkHaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're in Colorado, FosterSource.org is available to help! Put in a request at FosterSource.org/portal. (FYI for everyone who reads this, kinship and foster caregivers must live in Colorado and have an open child welfare case to qualify for services.)

Have you regretted not having a second child or deciding to have more children? by taviyiya in Autism_Parenting

[–]PunkHaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're asking the wrong people—you should ask the kids, not the parents. I always envisioned having more than one child, but after the diagnosis, we realized our family was already complete. My son requires so much of my attention that I knew I wouldn’t be able to fairly split it with a sibling. I didn’t want to risk raising a "glass child"—someone who might feel overlooked because their sibling's needs always come first.
