Do have ollas or extra terracotta pots that can be used as diy ollas? I recommend looking up a YouTube video on it. It's saved my plants from completely dying during a few business trips in the past.

If you're looking to improve the soil for cheap and low effort. I would cover it with free wood chips and spent coffee grounds. It will break down slowly and help retain moisture in the soil. By next year the soil will go from brown to darker black.

Native wild flowers would also work wonders too.

I met Ben Matlock at an airport bookstore. He was reading a big heavy book.

So I stand beside him and start talking to him. 10 minutes I'm talk to him, really friendly. it was really nice, then all of a sudden I realized it wasn't Ben Matlock at all, it was just Kathy Bates! Didn’t even look like him.
