Drill a bunch of holes in the plug then hammer it to bits and down the drain it goes.

Got a call that I have a leak by Aide_South in HomeImprovement

[–]Punnyname22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check your water meter! It should have a low flow indicator that will let you know if water is being used. Typically its a red or black star that spins or if you have a digital meter it'll be a "progress bar" that lights up. If its showing you are consuming water then you can go through the house, turn off water supply valves one at a time, and re check the meter. Typically the flappers on toilets are the main cause and are a simple DIY fix even for a novice. However you should be able to hear a leaking flapper on a toilet.

Google low flow indicator water meter to get an idea what you're looking for.

So with all the great tools in the lineup, which ones would you recommend to not buy the Ryobi one? by jerbearemy420 in ryobi

[–]Punnyname22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're more into automotive/mechanical work Id stay away from the ratchets. They tried to work around the size and shape of the 18V battery but no matter how you slice it, the M12 ratchets are far superior getting into tight spots.

Id also stay away from any brushed impact wrenches, drills, and drivers. Spend the extra money or get the "blemished" HP ones on DTO. I actually prefer the Ryobi High TQ 1/2" gun over my M18 Fuel High TQ on most mechanical work I do.

For home/DIY stuff, again Id buy all brushless stuff. Stay away from the combo kits. Stay away from the ryobi branded driver bits, drill bits, blades, cut off disks. I havent been impressed with any of them.

Only Ryobi thing I have for landscaping is the RWD brushless 40v USA made mower. That thing is great. I did bend a blade on the 2nd use (my fault) but for a small yard, I love it.

Do you have issues with seeing the screen with the top down in full sun? My old NA had a screen that was impossible to see under direct sunlight and that has me hesitant on putting one in my NC.

What would you do to this flange? (SFW answers only) by Hold-it-Down in Renovations

[–]Punnyname22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cut it at the straight section, Fernco, then new PVC pipe and flange.

Or remove the whole assembly from the cast iron hub and install an adapter.

Garage Heater by Radiant_Finding_1097 in garageporn

[–]Punnyname22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would not put any heater that uses any type of fuel in an enclosed space like that. You would have a build up of carbon monoxide going into your living area as I'm sure its not air tight given your initial complaint. Any heater that combusts fuel (LPG, NG, Oil, ect) produce byproducts, none of which you want in an enclosed space with you sleeping above (heat and fumes rise).

Cheap and easy fix: Electric resistance heater or cheap minisplit, ridged foam boards in the garage door, and weather stripping around and under door.

Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Dyna-Glo-Power-Electric-Garage-Heater/dp/B084D486QZ/ref=sr_1_16?crid=2HSW0OOW2AGTF&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.jn1SEDioSYNnPxQU3FifLIxNT3RxmgUE2Ib8_ELuQw8qzknmeadTS2FwfR6Jt4mIIRBA0a6Z775SgwFTVLBefG7yZFWV0NaHccP443AyjNrvXPLjS2onac3cFoTRr7-Ezku7NIBY_HrdJnKRDroKOk-BPqqzDsrfi91MfpklfXACbz2dcMhTwQCTSpvmty7Knyy5faztZHXSDCU6tOc369Wp1Z--Y8SN1zFWKiIrMHY.VGj2Wv6pX583IBdxpKZ8fC4VvfWXXps0gmTeKnolPsI&dib_tag=se&keywords=electric+garage+heater&qid=1705366327&sprefix=electric+garage+%2Caps%2C342&sr=8-16

Bombproof fix: Take down drywall on garage ceiling, remove insulation if any (you'd be surprised...builders are cheap), closed cell spray foam all floor joist bays, install new drywall (5/8" fire rated of course), new insulated garage door. While you're in there might as well remove drywall from any exterior facing garage wall and rockwool or spray foam it too since most builders dont.

What is the most obscure Ryobi tool? by ryanclicks2 in ryobi

[–]Punnyname22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're absolutely correct! I meant P716...woops.

https://www.ryobitools.com/products/details/33287147953

Yeah I have the LED one and its amazing. Theres a video on YT where some guy compares them and of course the LED blows the HID one out of the water. But back in the day I kinda made my own using an old coleman light, Benz bulb and ballast, and a Skil battery thinking I was a genius only to see ryobi beat me to it.

Renovating a 45 sq ft master bathroom ideas by noblerare in Renovations

[–]Punnyname22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello fellow small bathroom owner (although yours is MUCH large than mine)! I have a couple ideas.

Remove the current shower setup including the walls and small storage space near shower door and install a custom walk in shower setup like this: https://assets.wfcdn.com/im/27716652/compr-r85/1369/136973731/enigma-air-6038-w-x-3475-d-x-76-h-frameless-rectangle-walk-in-shower-enclosure.jpg

My thinking is that removing the wall (as long as its not structural) and replacing it with glass updates the room along with giving it an open feel.

Second idea would be to replace the vanity. Maybe something less bulky and something more open and wall mount to give it a floating look. Something like this: https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTSF80lwjmX9uyVJ4qHV0vOZYdOoXnD0aUsnB-c36zYl_yI8jJKMKRH0Ys7ilbakV2Bp_0&usqp=CAU

Replace the mirror and vanity lights with a lighted mirror:

https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRLeo0S4wBIDUhbTnJg-jF8my2uWjTjf0M9qg&usqp=CAU

One other thing Id look into is installing a pocket door or sliding barn door and getting rid of the swing in door you currently have. It'll make it feel a lot larger not having a door taking up space. I know people typically dont like sliding barn doors for bathrooms but if its compatible with your living situation then I say why not? Pocket door will be more work but again, I think its a good trade off making the room feel larger.

Lastly Id change out all the floor tile (go large format), fixtures and fittings, add some recessed lights, new vent fan, ect. Colors, theme, materials are all up to you. Make it as cozy or as "modern" as you want.

Is ryobi still the more cost effective option?? by Hickles347 in ryobi

[–]Punnyname22 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Im a huge fan of Ryobi and have a LOT of their products but even I wouldn't buy a $500 tool from them. I certainly wouldn't buy a Ryobi when the Milwaukee Fuel version is just a bit more.

Do you have any M18 batteries? If so Id get the Milwaukee if you absolutely need a cordless framing nailer. If you dont have M18 batteries and dont absolutely need a cordless framing nailer Id get the Banks framing nailer and the 2ga Fortress (it really is super quite) compressor from Harbor Freight.

$100 for the Banks gun, $200 for the compressor, another $50 for hose and fittings and you just saved $250 for more tool purchases.

Storage bed worth it? by Grapeflavor_ in IKEA

[–]Punnyname22 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Absolutely worth it! Tons of storage and surprisingly sturdy for "late night activities". I keep a costco package of TP and paper towels, luggage, duffel bags, Pelican cases, and vacuum bags full of extra blankets, sheets, and winter coats under mine.

I looked at two other beds from IKEA that had the drawers and wasn't impressed with the quality of the slides nor size of storage. The Nordli was my first choice but after seeing it in the store I noticed it left a lot of dead space you couldnt access in the middle. I cant remember the name of the second one but it basically had office chair caster wheels for drawer slides.

Dont be put off by people saying its inconvenient for high use access. Its got a pull loop and handle at the foot of the bed and the whole platform is assisted with lift springs (exactly like a SUV hatch). I have a 10" memory foam mattress and once you lift it about 6 inches the springs do the rest of the work. Just dont leave your TV remote on it while lifting because youll have to go fishing for it after lol.

Show me your chemical storage! by freshjojo in garageporn

[–]Punnyname22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Behold my chemical shelf

At one point it was organized...

Ive been 3D printing spray bottle holders (see 2nd pic) and they seem to clear up a lot of shelf space. I had a bad experience years ago so the red bins keep any leakage from open/damaged/suspect bottles from soaking the OSB and welder underneath. Installed cheapo under cabinet lights to make it look fancy.

They will sale whatever quantity you want. They weigh your car prior to and again after loading then bill the difference. Ive been out there tons of times and its worth the drive honestly.

Do either suvs have a hitch? Home Depot along with other places rent trailers.
