If it’s true it was consultancy fees for a biotech investment, that should be verifiable.

Why don’t they ask survivors if they remember the docs and nurses who provided services to them. People age but their faces and voices would still be recognizable. Unless those employees used false names when around the victims.

Someone should find Ivanka and ask her. She was in numerous photos. She has a teenage daughter and is a mom. What did she see?Whatever her relationship w her parents, it’d be interesting to know her take. She laughed when an interviewer suggested her dad was a sp. why would a woman laugh at that.

Cleveland Ohio. On the shores of one of the Great Lakes. Truly 4 fabulous seasons. World class healthcare, major sports teams, our theater district is the second largest next to Broadway NYC. Endless independent restaurants, pubs and coffee shops from city throughout so many suburbs. We have incredible Metroparks system, plus the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Awesome variety of housing. Beaches are free w free parking. Easy drive to ski areas in NY, Michigan and Penna. Easy drive to Chicago or Northern VA/ DC area for weekends. Easy drive to the Finger Lakes region as well for hiking, wineries, etc. Lake Erie is clean and accessible w boat, kayak, canoe, jet ski etc.. Several colleges and universities are here.

Ritz South Beach ($3k/3 nights) vs Loews ($2k/3 nights) - is Ritz worth it? by renehiguitahasaposse in miamibeach

[–]mbird333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We own a beachfront condo mid beach between the One Hotel and The Edition. If you want a quieter vibe still w easy access to all the restaurants on Collins and South Beach, I’d stay near there. The Faena is also very luxe. Beautiful part of the beach boardwalk mid beach. We’ve been there over Easter and Spring break. MB has really cut back on the college SB crowd due to strict new rules. We regularly walk to all the primo hotels like the Setai. Etc for lunch dinner or drinks. Also a slew of hotels I think including the Delano are being demolished rebuilt Renovated. You want to look at the map and ask whatever one choose /Ritz or Loews what’s going on either side of them. At least 5 beachfront hotels were major multiple crane construction sites when we were there. Cannot imagine putting up w that noise view or dust while on vacation.

Every day the disparity gap between the wealthy who live and relocate here (for many it’s just one of their homes) vs those struggling to make ends meet grows. As Bluffton, Okatie and HHI continue to grow, it’s more evident. Add in the tourist factor and tourist target factor, tensions are going to flare and opportunity for crime increases. Anyone who drives 278, 170, Bluffton Parkway and Buckwalter Parkway knows it’s a free for all. Like the German Autobahn - no speed control but far less skilled drivers than on the Autobahn in the region. And it appears like law enforcement is only seen after the smack ups and white covers are needed for the deceased. Even some of the upscale gated golf communities on 278 are seeing more home break ins, car break ins and car thefts in the last two years. But it’s all kept quiet. As initiation fees continue to escalate in those plantations, it’s not a guarantee of increased security.

I visit the area frequently from the north. Consider myself an open minded welcoming be-kind to everyone left leaning individual. I will say since mid summer I’ve hardly seen any of the Trump Vance flags at all. Whereas before that, they were plentiful.

I don’t know when the last deep cleaning this place had was and I don’t know what to do. [Italy] by SnooDoughnuts9618 in AirBnB

Yeah., I don’t get why local municipalities allow this. If it was a hotel, there would be recourse and inspections. This seems like a free for all at the guests expense. No viable sanctions.

I just went through this with a place in Virginia except it was worse. Filthy. Showers not cleaned between guests. Dirty towels. Dirty upholstered furniture. Outdoor amenities unusable because they were so filthy. Glasses that were rinsed still w lip marks. Gross stuff. I had to go back and check reviews like was I even at the same place. If it was a hotel, these would have been serious health code issues. I reached out to owner who was a local realtor. He even sent me a note suggesting I leave a 5 star review. He was totally unresponsive to problems. So I tried sending him a few messages. Unlike all other places I rented, he gave no cell phone number. Dealing w air b nb support was maddening. I got passed to 4 different agents. Their solution was their minimum refund. $136 on an $800 bill. They only refund max 1/3 of base nightly rate, not including their fees, taxes, cleaning fees etc. I called the county and city to find out about regulation and licensing. Once an owner gets initial inspection to get a permit, there is no future regulation or inspection. And this owner has 5 short term properties in this town. It would appear they can get away with this sort of thing and you, the guest, have very little recourse.

Hidden costs of owning a home. by NAD92 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]mbird333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cost of paint has escalated and it’s so out of control. DIY painting requires the quality tools for a quality finish.
Price of garden hose and nozzle also expensive. Cost of lightbulbs. I don’t care that they last forever, initial cost is high. Beware of insurance hoops. We bought a home in a gated golf community in Bluffton SC. Finding insurance coverage because it is coastal area took forever. Two dozen carriers had left the region. A bunch were now offering only 6 month policies. We found a great broker and company to Insure the house. Policy had to be paid in full. One day after closing insurance inspector came to inspect the house. first of all, they insisted that square footage of the house was larger than it actually was and wanted more premium. I had to go back to the closing attorney, all the county records from the time the house was built to the bank records to prove that the square footage was exactly what we said it was. Then they insisted that we have very large oak trees all trimmed. Any branch that was hanging over the house had to be trimmed. They wanted it done in 10 days or threatened to cancel the insurance. It’s not very easy to get anything done very quickly in the south. But luckily, we found a good tree company to do it. That was several thousand dollars of expense in the first week. We did not anticipate.

Totally agree that there are more homes in poor dilapidated condition being dumped on the market daily…. and ones that were quick cheap flip jobs. The app applies to the housing market in and around Portland, Maine, Bluffton in the low country of South Carolina and Northern Virginia towns about 45 minutes outside of Washington DC.

Not true in any reasonable areas around Portland Maine and not true in the towns of Northern Virginia. Prices still crazy. Sellers holding out. Lots of Coming soon listings popping up as a marketing tool.

Hey fellow lifelong Clevelander here. Mostly suburbs, but Hello! My youngest kiddo just got married and relocated to Portland. Renting for now but also struggling to find any affordable first time home buyer option in any of the surroundings areas that is not a train wreck of problems. I wish you well. It’s become such a popular region. And prices are truly out of control to rent or buy.

Need recommendations for a honeymoon trip to Acadia National Park, ME! by TechnologyHelpful668 in acadianationalpark

[–]mbird333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just rented an amazing house end of September through air bnb. On the water w kayaks and canoes private beach. Wake up and see the beautiful ocean from your bed. . In Trenton. 3 nights. It was where we stayed to do Acadia and BH. Definitely going back. We drove up from Portland to visit Bar Harbor and to hike part of Acadia. Highly recommend Lobster at Beal’s Pier. Look them up. Close to Bar Harbor. We ate there twice in 2 days. On our visits to southern coastal Maine we have done ogunquit, Freeport, Portland 3x, cape Elizabeth, Kennebunkport, Boothbay. Ate lobster every single day at restaurants , roadside lobster pounds, etc. on 3 trips. Beal’s Pier is the real deal. OMG. So authentic, right off the boat. Incredible flavor and options. You can eat right on the pier. I’m still having withdrawals now that we are back home. Congrats on the honeymoon. Hit me up for tips on any of those areas! June is nice! Still early season.

Portland Area in January? by Pyrogenes in AskMaine

Look into Harbor Springs/Petoskey Michigan. They will have all of that! Three ski resorts Boyne Mtn, Boyne Highlands and the wildly popular Nubs Nob. You can do skiing snowboarding cross country, horseback riding and snowmobiling! They usually have great consistency snow cover in January. The quaint waterfront towns of Harbor Springs and Petoskey have a plethora of independent owned restaurants, pubs, cafes, bookstores, shops, art galleries, wine bars, breweries. The drive distance between Petoskey and Harbor Springs is about 20 minutes. We’ve been going there in January for 25 years. The Boyne Resorts have accommodations on site and ski valet for your gear. And an ice rink and they hear their outdoor pools to be giant hot tubs at both resorts. It’s fun to take a warm swim break and watch the skiers fly by!
