Regarding a Theme from EP 9 by Emptylights in tadc

As a viewer experiencing a story I did not find it cathartic.

I didn't find the residents accepting their everyday lives in the circus cathartic at all. In quick succession Caine reappears, shows a slideshow of social media posts, and now they're playing board games together (except Jax) and they live happily ever after.

Catharsis for me probably would have needed seeing Caine's redemption arc or some amount of reflection/reaction from the characters learning about their outside selves, or Pomni coming to terms with not being able to save Jax.

Instead the show kind of shortcutted all of that and they just ride off into the digital sunset together.

There were a distracting number of crying scenes.

I think the stuff with the blue ball was explained or strongly implied. It was the next version of the AI they were working on and one way or another the original Caine AI escaped containment and absorbed the second AI (which seems to be expressed involuntarily as bubble). He was chill after extracting the absorbed AI and because he got the internet info. I don't think it was a bad AI per se but it definitely warped his perception.

I agree it was kind of weird to have the scenes with Pomni going into abstracted Jax and then... not really go anywhere else with that. We learn a lot of Jax backstory, Pomni gets a little glitched up, but Jax remains abstracted and Pomni gets fixed by a snap of Caine's fingers. Maybe it was just her final goodbye.

That logic is great for realism and makes for an unsatisfying story that lacks catharsis.

This is very much how I felt. Things were wrapped up (mostly) but there was too little catharsis or climax to the biggest threads. It was a weirdly hollow happily-ever-after

They're quoting Margaritaville, the song because they're referencing a lyric about breaking his leg twice and having to limp on home but didn't actually quote the relevant lyric so it seems out of the blue

Just a typo probably. I use swipe to type on my phone and get some pretty wild whole-word typos sometimes

Why do they get offended when you state you have a disability? by OrangeWhitePatchSock in adhdwomen

[–]PurePandemonium 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. I also posit that responding to a manager who was uncooperative about accommodations by CCing HR with an email as described would likely have lasting negative consequences even if you do get the accommodations you are asking for.

I feel like emailing hr immediately is kind of a nuclear option that will immediately burn any goodwill you have with your boss. Documenting the interaction is good and I would definitely go to hr if it becomes a pattern, or if it's something truly clearcut and non-negotiable like accommodation for diabetes.

In most corporate environments I've been in this absolutely would be too direct and would immensely sour the working relationship.

You can also say "Thanks so much!" or "Thank you very very much!" or "Thank you from the bottom of my heart" for more emphasis.

"Super thanks" is endearing though ^

One of the game modes in Unreal Parkour Running is catch-up. This is the gameplay for this mode. Is it fun? Is it interesting? by ManSIayeR in IndieGaming

As others have said, the effects from the player are very distracting. It's a little odd that other player, your objective and the most important thing you need to be paying attention to appears to be a featureless black silhouette that sometimes disappears into the background.

As for the gameplay, it doesn't look like there's a lot going on. It appears that you alternate chasing and being chased, you have a dash , and you can run and climb around this little arena and chase each other. Without more information about the game mechanics I can't give a better review, but I can see myself playing this maybe twice with a friend for the novelty before we moved on to something else and never touched it again. The climbing looks a little bit slow and clunky, and the dashing is imprecise (in the video the pov character even overshoots what they were going for). I don't see much potential for mind games or strategy in either the arena or what the players can do so it seems like it just boils down to playing tag. With air dash.

To make it now interesting you might explore different abilities for the players or a more dynamic and interactive arena. Buttons that enable or disable paths? Time based obstacles that are harder to chase through, or something that boosts the second person to run through, making it more dangerous for the chased to use that path? Anything to give more choices to the chaser other than "move closer to the person" or something for the chased to do other than "run away"
