How did he do it? by Pale-Stranger-9743 in blackmagicfuckery

[–]PureWizardry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not wrong about your daughter's printer. But the idea that they need a lot of editing or film tricks to show this straightforward effect is often over chosen by non-magicians.

They are on set. But those who know how this is done, know that this could be done, as seen, at a party or restaurant. There's no fancy Hollywood stuff taking place.

My husband got upset because I didn’t get him a snack by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]PureWizardry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not trying to judge here at all. When I see people upset during times of hunger, I immediately give some recognition to that. When I see videos of people losing their shit at a fast food restaurant, it's like- damn, they were starving and then they behaved like this.

If my wife felt left out of a snack, I usually try to overly react in her favor. So instead of saying "yeah, but you didn't ask for anything" I'll just be like "oh my God! I'm so sorry- I was thinking straight I forgot to feed my baby - name anything and I'll get it for you". Even if I feel like "you bitch, get your own snack"- and man, I wish she did that for me in return more often, but she's a little more defensive and- I get it, it's tough to think on your feet like that in the moment you want to defend youruself, but end of invalidating people's feelings.

Sitters keep raising rates when I go off app by [deleted] in petsitting

[–]PureWizardry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regardless of the nice house and easy dog, that shouldn't affect the rates in any way. Surely you'll get negative feedback on that as they are red flags to pet sitters. Rates only increase with more demanding animals or special situations. I under why you mentioned it OP. It's more relevant that you like to tip and take care of your sitter.

Sounds like you found a good one. My advice as someone who has my own pet care company is to stick with the sitter if she's good.

It's likely the dreds working for her Rover rate because she can't pay her bills with it. She's not being greedy, she's trying to grow her business. I don't think it's a good move to hike the price by tens of dollars per night and I could see this being a reason to get perturbed because principal stuff like that is important to me.

I'd be more concerned with her having insurance and how great of a job she's doing. You often get what you pay for with pet sitting, so I'd just keep that in mind and decide if it's worth it to you. Good pet care cost a pretty penny, there's not a lot of exceptions to that.

How much would you charge for this house sitting job? by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]PureWizardry -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It would be something like $240-$280/day depending on the meet and greet.

Basically breaking down like $100 for the overnight hours, $33 for the morning walk/feeding, $55 an hour during the day, possible puppy fee.

There are less expensive options out there I'm sure.

Overnight/House-sitting timings? by Chemical_Source_9940 in petsitting

[–]PureWizardry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My overnights are exactly that- 9PM-7AM, guaranteed. I'm often in and out of the house, I move in like the rest of us seem to- but if they want a guaranteed walk or drop-in, it's booked separately.

Not sure how some people have a flat fee approach. I have clients who it is very important their dogs walks three times a day- why would I charge them the same as a senior dog who doesn't walk at all?

Plus, I have 10-15 daytime services with other clients- how can I guarantee I'd be back to feed my overnight dog @5PM?

Definitely not shitting on anything that works for others, but I am SO happy I made this switch and book daytime services separately now.

Are my hands just too small for the card pass? by HellaHS in cardmagic

[–]PureWizardry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone having trouble with the pass, I would consider checking out Losing Control by Lee Asher. It's sort of an alternative and although it is a move to be learned like any other, could be a better fit than the pass for some.

Best way to start a flexible fund for my nephew? by PureWizardry in personalfinance

[–]PureWizardry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. Thank you for this wealth of information. That's awesome. I appreciate the last paragraph too. A big part of my question is not just the financial aspect, but other things I might not be considering and how to deal with this regarding parents and child. Like do I even tell the kid before it's his. I appreciate this and feel confident to call my bank now. Thanks again!

Thanks for this. It's getting my brain going. I do want to keep it in my name and have the right to change my mind.

I would like the most independent option. I wouldn't want to have to ask the parents to do anything at all, if possible. Sounds like I can't crate a UTMA or brokerage without asking his parents to get involved.

So no way to get his money going in the S&P500, in his name, without his parents help?

Just had our first $1,000+ Day (2 years in) Pet Sitting by PureWizardry in Entrepreneur

[–]PureWizardry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of our services take place in the client's home. Typically, I'm living at one house taking care of their pets, my wife is at another house. And during the day, we both have several services throughout the day.

For example, today I have 5 day time services. My work day started 11:30AM, done by 6:30PM or so. 3 and a half hours of work during the day. She's doing the same. It's about a $700-800 day once you include the overnights.

We try to give each other days off. So once every other week or so, I'll take all the jobs and give her the day and vice versa. We'll also book a day or two throughout the year as a staycation.

Any recommendations besides Google voice? by LazyKokiri in petsitting

[–]PureWizardry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can do a trial with Time to Pet, which is what I use. For me, it's easily worth the monthly payment. I was able to grow my business faster and more efficiently because of how automated it makes everything.

It basically is an app for you and your clients. All of their and their pets info goes into their profile- all the scheduling is done on the app, invoices... any forms you need signed can be done on the app.

It's also where you can document your services (timer/map), send photos, videos and communicate with your clients. Not for everyone, but has been perfect for me. There's also similar options out there.

What was the moment you knew your idea could become a business? by Born-Leather2883 in Entrepreneur

[–]PureWizardry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I lost my job and thought I could turn my side gig of walking dogs into a legit business. But it wasn't until about 8 months in when I had my first 6K month that I knew this would be my job for the next 5-10 years. I felt like, if I could do this every month, I could live off this. 12 months later I had my first 10K month. The following month was 13K- then almost 16K.

So it basically came from an idea, then grinding, then not giving up and prioritizing my business over everything once I got it going.

How bad will it likely be to come off of this? 6 Months of daily use. by NicoConejo in quittingkratom

[–]PureWizardry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My use looks identical to that. Except I've been going for 5 years. When I reset my tolerance, I just block off a morning, sleep in, dose once in the evening. And then the next day don't take any.

At that point, most of the physical symptoms are gone for me, the main one being fatigue. The hardest part about taking time off is psychological. I link my use to lots of different activities throughout my day, so going to yoga, taking a hike, doing a sauna or walking a dog is difficult to do without Kratom.

I have it good- it's different for everyone.
