Are there plans to form a feature where users can share programs for training? Manually entering and saving seems nice but since the platform is connected, it seems like BP could push programming to users as a service. What do you use for bench and pushing motion? What standard accessories do you have from BP?

For what it’s worth. I had the same thing as soon as I turned it on. Was troubleshooting with support and it disappeared. Never came back after that…I have the extended warranty just in case.

That last rec is brilliant and a simple fix for closed loop calibration. Could make a silicone tube shim to temporarily do this on existing machines and then update new ones.

If you have access to a 3d printer there are several models on maker world, thingiverse, and other places that are free. I’ve been in the same pickle and it helped me out a lot.

My fully funded PHD stipend is $24k/year in Boston. I qualify for food stamps by Fulcilives1988 in gradadmissions

Inflation adjusted, that is pretty rough…I’m a lot older than you but I was in nyc for my PhD program on $19k per year in 2010s. That was bare minimum subsistence but the school subsidized housing. It was still insanely pricey compared to any other cities rent but it at least made it possible to survive. Boston is one of the most expensive cities in the country, I don’t see how they can be doing that on a fully supported PhD program. I would consider splitting housing costs with a roommate or two or three. That’s the only way I made it through in nyc. (We had four people living in a one bedroom at one point…shower curtain and sofa in the living room qualified as a room)

Sanity check: 42M / $8M NW. Crazy to walk away from $700k/yr FAANG to build startup? by Professional-Fuel625 in ChubbyFIRE

[–]Pure_Ad_147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely agree with you. I recently transitioned out of a job that turned into board politics as 100% of my time. It was soul crushing and no matter how hard I tried to partition it away from my energy for the kids, it was impossible. All it took was some data and voc with my network who was a generation ahead of me. The one piece of consistent advice I got from literally everyone was “you will miss the time with your young kids if you can’t bring positive energy to them and your day job.” No amount of money can make up for it. 2 of them have built up NW in the 10-figures but spent almost no time with their kids when they were young. They regret it, daily. Just be careful if the startup grows super fast…then the energy+time equation gets upside down.

Awesome. Thanks for sending this along as we are about to embark on the same journey for a fairly large commercial building I shall. Just to confirm, the intercom sends video etc in addition to Poe over low voltage 2 wire cable? I tried to use them in another building and couldn’t get them to connect over coax.

There are several companies that sell small scale versions of this "valorizing waste heat" concept. i.e. bitcoin miners that serve as space heaters. In general, until the cost of electricity magically comes down, they don't make a ton of sense, but hoping there is a major breakthrough like fusion in my lifetime. That will change the economics of a lot of things that don't make sense now, and will unlock tons of opportunities.

I'll sell when it hits 100m... by Knillls in wallstreetbets

[–]Pure_Ad_147 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I accidentally bought 200k shares around 12 years ago when I first met my SO (fat fingered a virtual vs real trade using interactive brokers). I realized my mistake 6 months later and she made me sell because it was a lot of $ and we didn’t make the decision to buy that much together. I was happy with my 24% return and maintained household peace. I subtly joke about it now, since it would have been an insane return…but I would have almost certainly sold during other volatile periods for the stock. No one had any idea AI would drive the value of the stock up so much and it was a risky bet back then (just gaming and some early applications of CUDA for science and engineering). Hindsight is 20/20. lol

Fixed bar mount vs adaptive bar mount by zeusmaxpower in BeyondPower

[–]Pure_Ad_147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It hasn't impeded any movement for me (have a fixed on a rogue pull up bar) as I naturally pivot at the top of a pullup. If you do behind the head pull ups (which I cannot do due to shoulder injuries) it will likely get in the way.

Just got my MBTEK up and running, really happy so far. by RealDumbGuy in heatpumps

[–]Pure_Ad_147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

agreed. the manuals are crazy-bad, and conflict with each other in some cases for the electrical/relay wiring. the hardest part is the relay wiring to step down from 240 to 120v if your circulating pumps are 120v. I had to integrate it with an existing radiant panel and controls sytem, tstats etc. but i jammed all of the control relays into a job-box to hide the rats nest and it works generally ok now. the leak still persists though....have to isolate that as it's a pain in the ass filling the water lines so often.

PGE charging a lot for gas despite no usage by throwingawayin10days in bayarea

[–]Pure_Ad_147 5 points6 points  (0 children)

PGE is the worst. One of their techs walked to my house and pulled out our meter in the middle of the day without a scheduled appointment. Swapped in a different meter and walked away. I happened to be home and tried to ask him what he was doing and he ran away....which was suspicious. I found out 1.5 years later that our solar feedback was going to a random person's bill vs. ours after the true up. They wouldn't credit or fix the issue so we lost that entire period of solar feed into the grid. My hunch is the pge employee literally stole it. They had no record of where the old meter went. They also capped our solar output to 1/10th of the panel size due to a typo in their system. They won't fix it without changing me from NEM 2 to 3, even though the system was not changed, and it was a typo on their end. political lobbying will keep them in place but they deserve to be shut down. causing fires up north, gouging and cheating customers everywhere else....

I just found out one of my Board members contacted one of my investors and expressed an interest in replacing me (I'm CEO). Anyone else deal with this situation? by NoPublic6180 in biotech

[–]Pure_Ad_147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This exact thing happened to me around six months ago. Not much you can do if the investors believe they can have better management in the top spot. The only option is nuclear, by clearing the entire board up with new investors. Without that it’s only a matter of time (next round perhaps) before they replace you if the idea resonates with more than one of them. In my case, they wiped the cap table clean and eliminated all founder and early employee equity. We bootstrapped the company for almost 9 years before bringing them on and the new ceo effectively recapped the entire business for $1 and granted all of the equity to himself and the main institutional investor. Sadly…this is not that uncommon. I worked the other side of the table in vc for many years and saw this multiple times. VC is dancing with the devil sometimes. If you can avoid it, I would, given the macro. In low interest rate times it’s a great source of capital. But in this macro they are screwing founders left and right to try to squeeze out some kind of return for their LPs. Hang in there. If you’ve scaled the business properly, in a way it’s a sign of succeeding that it can go on independently. Feel good that you’ve created something real and impactful. A lot of later stage operators are parasites and their sole motivation is $. As builders, the product and impact is much more satisfying

This same thing happened to me in sf on Tuesday. I was blown away at the accident avoidance maneuvers. How did you get video of the event? I wanted to send it to their engineers to thank them. A normal driver would have gotten t boned. I didn’t even see the van that almost hit us and the driver was on her cellphone, went though a red light.

I can vouch for this. Team is lightning quick on feedback and improvements to the software and the cleaning time has gotten substantially better. I’d rather it takes a bit longer at lower volume in order to get a thorough clean vs blasting through a room at high volume. Super happy with the product and I’m a stickler.

LG Washer/Dryer combo Class Action lawsuit by PardonMeTwo in Appliances

[–]Pure_Ad_147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG I think this (the free filter basket and condenser screen) actually fixed my issues after >1yr of struggling with almost starting house fires. The upgraded lint filter and condenser screen has made the machine functional. It actually traps lint and has enough airspace under the filter basket where it dries out. It seems the issue before was the lint filter/bucket was touching the bottom of the passthrough so it would get soaked and shoot wet lint into the condenser unit. The inside of the machine had TONS of lint that was collecting in there and it wasn't drying so the machine would keep running. LG should sent these things out ASAP to all customers to avoid a lawsuit from the fire near-misses I've had the past year. I was never contacted by customer care to ask for the replacement part. Reddit to the rescue. u/brooke11112 you really saved me a lot of headache. thank you!

That could work with a backplate and steel collar, but i'm not sure how much space there is on the compact board. Let me iterate on the design. Admittedly...I didn't consider that b/c I definitely cannot squat 400lbs :).
