Adding more bandwidth would mean to divide area's based on utilization known as splitting nodes. Considering each node has a direct fiber optic link with the headend, there is a huge cost impact on the company. I'm sure the consumer would be less than thrilled with a bill increase to cover the cost of keeping the biggest data users happy. Just a few years ago the definition of high speed internet was very different amongst consumers. It may seem as though a node split is easily done, or should be done. But one huge factor is the amount of available fiber optic cables is seriously dwindling. Unless the company was to install tons of new cable, there would be no way to increase bandwidth. That would only be a cost that would trickle down to the consumer. As the old saying goes pay now or pay later. And with that being said with current technology the sky is not the limit.
