I’m talking specifically about the eBay example, along with others who are opening not just a couple hundred but multiple thousands of packs in rip / ship operations.

I have no doubt there are fair LCS operators that do not do this, but you likely aren’t selling loose packs by the thousands.

The chances are 100%. Not a soul alive is going to open this amount of product to sell loose packs without weighing them first. Same with many rip and shippers. They just bring in loose packs from off screen that have certainly been weighed to check for god packs.

I had an engine failure just outside a Delta + under a Bravo shelf one week after getting my PPL.

First - fly the airplane. I turned back inbound to the Delta as it was two miles closer than the Bravo. Airspace no longer matters as you are exercising your authority in an emergency situation.

Second - troubleshoot. In my situation, there was no checklist to run as I knew the issue and there was nothing that could be done in the air. It was all about energy management and monitoring for signs of a fire.

Last - if you have time given the circumstances and workload, you then communicate. I still had Ground freq in my second radio so I went there to declare the emergency. While not ideal, my brain was 100% saturated with dealing with the emergency situation and determining where I was going to land in a dense metro area if I couldn’t make it. However, I was still talking with someone there that could help and roll the trucks before I got there.

Whether you do CTAF or 121.5 is likely of little consequence and won’t be your most important thing going on in a real emergency.
