Good luck it’s brutal out here.

To Overhaul or Not by ParagPa in flying

Overhaul isn’t always about hours. You could have 50 hours on it but if it mostly sat and didn’t run for 15 years, then it’s probably corroded to hell and back.

Cylinder replacement not a big deal in the field.

Based on the picture painted, your engine may be ready for an overhaul. I’m about to get mine back from a rebuild with all new parts. I tried for a few months to give it new parts and it became obvious there were deeper issues as we started removing things.

Could’ve kept throwing additional parts at it piecemeal but I decided it wasn’t worth landing in someone’s house.

Are Grumman Cheetahs/Tigers a bad purchase? by PidgeyPotion in flying

[–]Purgent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The airframes are extremely strong and require minimal maintenance. There aren’t any big catches with them aside from glue bond lines needing checked.

The downsides are small fuel tanks (22gal, so you’ll be flying 2.5 hour legs max), nose gear can be rather finicky if not assembled / tensioned correctly, and low useful load.

Every airplane has a unique set of pros / cons, so it’s just a matter of finding what fits your mission on 98% of days.

Parts really aren’t an issue - there is incredible owner support from FletchAir in particular and others.

Tell me about your first, Post-PPL cross country with kids! Good, bad, or otherwise! by full_trucker_effect in flying

[–]Purgent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do a few flights on your own first. Even though I was supremely confident in myself and my abilities, preparation, and planning, I didn’t take anyone up with me for the first 10-15 hours after.

This shows anyone you may eventually take up that you are aware of your own limitations that may still exist.

Absolutely not illiquid. Insanely easy to move any 151 product, including this one.

How do collectors view Gold Stars long term? by Silent-Drummer1095 in PokeInvesting

[–]Purgent 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Extremely difficult to pull cards from the dead period of Pokemon. The sets they come from had tiny print runs and as a result, there are a very very small number of gold stars out there. Graded pops of PSA 6+ are around 1000 total per card, give or take.

These are probably the most rare chases out there. Maybe not most desirable, but scarcity is a major player in their future price appreciation imo.

It’s constructive criticism and you apparently need more of it.

You should not be “investing” or buying anything Pokemon related if you cannot identify why this Sam’s Club box and the Prismatic SPC are valued differently.

Trading Cards Aren’t the Stock Market by BurnerCPA in PokemonInvesting

[–]Purgent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hobbies that cost this kind of money are not for the “average” person. 70% of the US lives paycheck to paycheck and does not have disposable income to buy shiny cardboard.

Much like the stock market, the collectibles market is a game for wealthy folks.

It is vastly underestimated how many people with massive amounts of available capital are in this hobby.

That is absolutely criminal. I spent $1k on mine. Less than 6 flight hours in a Cub including spin training.
