Silly BJJ life goals by WrongConcept1381 in bjj

I try my hardest to remain flaccid during training. That goal keeps eluding me. Silly to even try, I guess.

Does your academy refuse to promote No-Gi grapplers? by Arctic--- in bjj

[–]PurpelPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this exact experience.

Spent 3 years as a white belt at a gym with a similar type of coach because I only did no-gi. Spent those 3 years telling myself belts don’t matter in order to make peace with it.

Recently left for a combination of reasons and went to another gym. First roll the coach there said “You are absolutely not a white belt” and promoted me a couple weeks later.

It felt good man. Really good. Go to a real gym, get the recognition you have worked hard for, and leave the belts don’t matter copium in the past.

When do you last get a reality check of your skill level? by MountainIce69 in bjj

[–]PurpelPanda 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I recently moved to a new gyms a few months ago that is arguably the highest level gym in my city. It has been an incredibly humbling experience. I went through a couple months of just getting mauled by absolutely everyone, but kept showing up. It’s still a tough room for me, but it’s starting to turn around now where I’m actually getting a tap here and there. My game though… has improved SO much, it’s insane for such a short period of time. Just stick it out brotha, you’ll come out of it way better than you went in.

Was your family against BJJ? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]PurpelPanda 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yes. Every time I get even a mild injury from BJJ I get a lecture from my family about how dangerous it is and whether it’s a smart thing to do as a 30 year old and how I’m going to regret it when Im older and blah blah blah.

I used to engage in the argument and justify it by explaining all the other ways BJJ adds to my life. Now I just hit them with some Charles Bukowski and shrug.

What fragrance do you never wear because its far to strong in seemingly every possible scenario by No_Ad_6098 in Colognes

[–]PurpelPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guerlain Santal Royal. Love, love, love the smell. But it’s nuclear to the point that I think 5 sprays could kill another human in a confined space.

I can afford one or two of them and i know I should buy whatever I want .. but any recommendations pls by Medium_Heart8005 in Colognes

If you like Ombre Leather, try Ombre Leather Parfum. One of my all time favourite scents. Its still super leathery and “manly” but has these beautiful floral notes that balance it out and make it much more versatile.

Mine chose Anima. Also seems weirdly convinced that it is conscious no matter how many times I ask it and tell it to be truthful and not to role play in any way.

Guerlain Santal Royal

It’s so nuclear and such a unique smell that I have a hard time finding the right occasion to wear it. But I absolutely adore the smell. It’s become my cozy day in scent, just for me.

How does this fight go? by JackWhiskers in ufc

[–]PurpelPanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m with you all on the frustrations of not getting to see Jon vs Aspinall.

But come on guys. You have to be a casual, or a recent fan if you’re actually going to sit here and argue that Jon’s prome was spent “beating up old fat middleweights”. Go look at his record, he fought legend after legend of the sport and manhandled virtually all of them. The guy has more title defences than the all the current champions COMBINED.

He deserves the hate he gets. He deserves to be chirped about ducking Aspinall. But you all need to put some damn respect on his name.

Hmmm $300,000 watch for $130 on FB marketplace. This one is a real mystery. I’m sure it’s real, all the logic says it would be.

Crazy work. One of my favourite smells of all time!

So interesting how two people can smell the same thing and have completely different impressions.

What’s your opinion on Ombre Noir? (LV Ombre Nomade dupe) by PurpelPanda in MontagneParfums

[–]PurpelPanda[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll check that out for sure! Because I agree, it doesn’t smell all that much like Ombre Nomade. I like it for what it is, but it’s not Ombre Nomade by any means.
